You might not have the time or money to take a summer vacation this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take one day to do only the things that you want to do.
Here’s how my perfect summer day would unfold: A morning swim at the gym (so I don’t feel lazy the rest of the day), breakfast on my back deck with French press coffee and homemade crepes (courtesy of my husband, no less), a couple of hours reading in my backyard hammock (I don’t even own one, but this is all theoretical, right?), a couple of hours quilting with my mom (it’s a hobby she and I love), a movie with my hubby during the hottest part of the afternoon and a dinner out with friends and family, during which I would order a bottle of wine and dessert.
Now it’s your turn. Post your description of your perfect summer day. If it includes indulging in chick lit, you’re in luck. Because we’ll randomly select a participant to win a paperback copy of these two books: “Picture Perfect” by Catherine Clark and “Save the Date” by Tamara Summers.

My perfect summer day would begin with me sleeping in really, really late (I throw papers for the Eagle, so sleeping in usually means 4 a.m.). Around 9:30 or 10 a.m. I would rise and stretch and go find my four little boys playing quietly together downstairs. We would share some huge cinnamon rolls from Braums, and I would make some fresh fruit smoothies. Then we would quickly get dressed and go down to the Arkansas river. We would have rubber boots on(the only safe way to approach that poor abused body of water), and we would explore the river by actually wading in it! Then we would settle on the sand for a picnic I had packed earlier that day. Shortly thereafter, we would get on our bikes and ride to Riverside Park, where we would play and play until a soft summer rain would begin to fall, cooling us after another sunny scorcher. But it would be one of those magical rains that falls from clear skies, and the sun would still be shining! When we were cool, we would return home to sit on our porch and eat popsicles together. Then we would all take cool bubble baths (this would take a while, but hey, maybe in my perfect world on this perfect summer day we could have six bathtubs - one each - so it wouldn’t take so long!) and go to the drive in movie theater to watch some G-rated movies under the friendly stars.
