Mother’s Day is Sunday, and as you pause to celebrate your mother, don’t forget about other women who have played the “mom” role in your life.
My list of maternal influences in my life could go on and on. There’s one long-time family friend named Monica whom I actually call “Momica” because of the part she’s played in my life. My mother-in-law has known me since I was in high school and has witnessed many of my life’s best and worst moments. I have aunts who’ve offered caring words and girlfriends who have lovingly nagged and supported me.
Who has been a mom to you? An older sister? A neighbor? An extended relative?

As I sit here and write about my mother and grandmothers, I begin to tear. My mother is undeniably the best thing to grace my life. She has taught me strength but also how to be graceful, she has brought love when only anger in the world persists. Her constant humor and smiles in my life have brought me to my soul-mate, my husband! My mother Vicki, my grandma “Mammy” and great-grandmother “Nana” are living proof family is stronger than ever when you have LOVE! I will treasure every breath, every opinion and every smile until I take my last breath. They are the reason I am ALIVE!! I would never take them for granted and I hope others treasure the women in their lives as much as I do!! I LOVE YOU LADIES!
My mother-in-law Lois Sage will celebrate her 92nd Birthday on Mother’s Day this year, she has 4 great-great grandchildren and will have 2 more in July. they will all be at a party for her on Sunday.
She loves having them around and looks forward to their visits. She still bowls with a league and is a very active lady.

Then last but not forgotten is Loretta, she passed away on april 18, 2008 from cancer, she was my real mothers best friend, she was always by my side thru the roughest parts and even thru the good ones.. I miss her very much..I miss being able to talk just call and talk/vent to her.. But now i am a mother and i have taken everything i have learned from all of them and put it towards what i have to look forward to from my daughter..
