In addition to dollar stores (we have at least 37 in the Wichita area), several area stores (Targets included) have an aisle, an endcap or a place devoted to $1 merchandise.
Have you found an area store where your buck has a lot of buying power? What’s your best $1 find?
At a local dollar store, I once found adorable baby socks, bibs, lotions and other baby supplies. At a baby shower, I gave a friend who was expecting her first baby the items in a laundry basket, which I also found for $1. She was able to use the laundry basket to transport her many gifts home, and then later in her nursery.

My best $1 find was a dress and sweater outfit. In 2000, I went to JCPenney to find something to wear to Easter Sunday church services. A gorgeous dress, which had been $35, was on the clearance rack for under $5. I snagged it up. When I got to the register, I found out that all clearance merchandise was discounted 80% - that dress cost me $0.78! I was able to get a cute sweater, originally $20, for $1.35. I still have that outfit, and still wear it, since it’s a timeless style.
I love the Target $1 bins, but even better is every few months they put them at 75% off. I have gotten many toys, pens, books and CDs there for 25 cents each!
I find the best use of dollar is at the local area gentlemans clubs…That seems to be the best entertainment my dollar will buy..
