An article in today’s WichiTalk explains the growing trend of "self-gifting." Basically, it’s when shoppers looking for gifts for others decide to treat themselves to something special, too. If you shop online or are 18 to 34 years old, you’re apparently more likely to participate in self-gifting.
I fall into both categories and did buy something for myself last week when I was shopping. The cold, dry air is wreaking havoc on my hands, and I couldn’t pass up a gift set of overnight hand lotion and spa gloves, which I’ve never tried before. I guess I could have dropped major hints that I wanted the set to family and friends, but I chose not to be a nag and just bought it myself.
Have you purchased something for yourself this month while Christmas shopping? What did you buy? Do you think self-gifting is selfish?
