Friday fashion report from Texas

Here’s the latest from The Eagle’s Bonnie Bing, who’s spending her Friday at the Dallas Apparel Spring Market surrounded by designers, runways and chic clothing. (Don’t get too jealous: She’ll be sharing much of what she learned with readers in next week’s WichiTalk.) Bonnie is hanging out today with Wichita-area women whose job is to scout out the latest fashions and select clothing to bring back to local shops that want to sell these dandy duds to you. Bonnie reports:

I’ve noticed over the years that by mid-afternoon I start hearing buyers say, "I think
I’ve had it. I can’t look at one more thing." Some of them start very early and
go from one appointment to another. It’s a whole lot more fun to stroll
through the halls in window-shopping heaven at The World Trade Center and talk
to designers.

And believe it or not, if all goes as planned, one other
fashion writer and I are supposed TO HAVE DINNER with designer Carmen Marc Valvo! I told my husband on the phone about how excited I am, and he said,
"Great! Is that what I’m supposed to say?" Dinner and time to talk to one of
my favorite designers! See, this is better than being a buyer.
