As a reporter, I deal with my share of — shall I say — disgruntled customers. Some choose to express themselves by sending me e-mails detailing what a moron I am. Others choose to cut my column pictures out and take a pen to my teeth. I get that. And after more than 10 years at it, I’m used to it.
But I don’t have to deal with those people face-to-face very often. That doesn’t mean I don’t worry about people who do.
I’m interested in hearing from people who have jobs that include regular tongue lashings from total strangers. Waitresses. Return counter clerks. Telemarketers.
How do you do it? How do you keep from taking it personally? How do you cope? If you’re one of these people, comment here. And tell us your worst horror story as well as your best tip.
