Good for Attorney General Derek Schmidt for wanting to create a special two-person unit in his agency to investigate Kansas Open Meetings Act and Kansas Open Records Act complaints. The proposal is backed by the Kansas Press Association and the Kansas Association of Counties, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. KPA executive director Doug Anstaett said that potential violations are widespread. “It seems we continue to make the same mistakes over and over,” he said.
