The National Journal listed Kansas House Minority Leader Paul Davis, D-Lawrence, as a candidate to watch in 2014. Davis is running for governor this year, and the Journal said that “a right-wing takeover” of the Kansas GOP is driving moderate Republicans toward Davis. It noted that Davis had a slight lead over Gov. Sam Brownback in a SurveyUSA poll taken last fall. However, it still considers Brownback the favorite in this race “barring additional evidence.”
