Moran right about what Senate doesn’t need

Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., spoke a bipartisan truth when he said this week that “the last thing the Senate needs is another show horse who is more concerned with self-promotion than governing.” But Moran, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, was talking about one party and one candidate, Democratic Party celebrity Cory Booker. The Newark mayor easily won in a special Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat opened by the death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg. Booker will face Republican Steve Lonegan in the Oct. 16 special general election. Moran’s tough talk is unlikely to move voters in the blue state, which hasn’t sent a Republican to the Senate since 1972.
