Wondering whatever happened to Kansas’ open seat on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver? The answer is nothing, noted the Lawrence Journal-World. Judge Deanell Reece Tacha of Lawrence took senior status on the court in January 2011, which prompted President Obama to nominate former Kansas Attorney General Steve Six (in photo) for the court. But last summer Kansas Sens. Jerry Moran and Pat Roberts killed the nomination with little explanation. Six has since joined a Kansas City, Mo., law firm as a partner, while Tacha is now dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, Calif. In response to another vacancy on the court, Obama nominated Oklahoman Robert E. Bacharach in January. Though he has the support of that state’s two GOP senators, Bacharach’s is among Obama nominations that other Republicans plan to block until after the November election.
