A proposed cut to the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan wasn’t the only thing that Kansas delegation members disliked about the president’s 2013 budget plan. “President Obama continues to ignore our country’s fiscal reality by failing to offer real solutions to our debt and deficit problem,” said Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan. “Instead, his budget calls for new taxes, increased spending and record debt.” Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., was concerned about proposed cuts to agriculture. “Rather than listen to those in farm country, the Obama administration has chosen to recycle old suggestions and raid agriculture to pay for excessive spending elsewhere,” Roberts said. Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, said: “This year’s budget is the fourth consecutive annual budget offered by this president that adds over $1 trillion to the federal deficit. Even worse, this budget fails to address our main driver of debt – out-of-control entitlements.”
