Federal grant is what is ‘nuts,’ commissioner says

Sedgwick County Commissioner Karl Peterjohn objected at Wednesday’s commission meeting to a WE Blog item that said he and fellow Commissioner Richard Ranzau sounded “a little nuts” in claiming that a federal planning grant was an effort by President Obama “to plan and develop our communities according to his progressive, big-government vision.” At the meeting, Peterjohn started to launch into a history lesson on other meanings of the word “nuts” when Commissioner Jim Skelton interrupted: “Peanuts, almonds, something like that? Is that what it is?” Ranzau said that it was the grant, which the Regional Economic Area Partnership wants to apply for and most local officials support, that is scary and nuts.
