President Obama is getting criticized by the Republican National Committee and conservative talk-show hosts for going on vacation. But according to White House historian Mark Knoller of CBS News, Obama has taken less time off than other presidents. Before this vacation, Obama had taken 61 vacation days so far. At equivalent points in their presidencies, George W. Bush had spent 180 days at his Texas ranch and Ronald Reagan had taken 112 vacation days at his California ranch. And, of course, a president is never really “on vacation.”
