Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole would like U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus to be on the GOP presidential ticket in 2012. “We’re due for another (Dwight) Eisenhower,” Dole said last weekend while in Russell. Dole described Petraeus as “a steady hand” and said that “it’s time for somebody that the American people can have confidence in.” Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., has also encouraged Petraeus to run.
It didn’t take long for some Republicans to begin calling for the resignation of Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., over his “sexting” scandal. But some in the GOP have a problem — namely Sen. David Vitter (in photo), R-La., who admitted in 2007 to a “serious” sin after his phone number was linked to the “D.C. Madam.” Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., was among the 27 prominent Republicans who contributed a total of $161,700 to Vitter’s 2010 re-election effort.

He added: “Kansas has become the leader in stopping election fraud. I encourage every state in the union to join Kansas in this effort.”
