How Pompeo would reform Social Security

The budget plan by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., that the House recently approved calls for reforming Social Security but is vague about how to do it. Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, told The Eagle editorial board that he supports gradually increasing the retirement age and reducing cost-of-living adjustments. He also wants to allow young people to at least partially opt out of Social Security for private retirement accounts. He is “not interested” in raising the earnings cap for payroll taxes.
