Privacy concerns aside, you have to laugh at the moneymaking proposal by some Hawaiian lawmakers: Sell copies of President Obama’s birth certificate for $100. Many “birthers” likely would pay it, though surely there aren’t enough of them to make much of a dent in the state’s $800 million shortfall. Even after getting the birth certificate, some likely still wouldn’t be convinced. A recent spoof headline from borowitzreport.com might not be far off: “Birthers Challenge Hawaii to Produce Statehood Certificate; President’s Birthplace Not Really American, Leaders Claim.”
