Just a few weeks after swearing off earmarks, the U.S. Senate released a spending bill that includes more than 6,000 earmarks totaling $8 billion, the Washington Post reported. That caused Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to rail that lawmakers were ignoring a message from the November election. “Are we tone-deaf?” McCain asked. “Are we stricken with amnesia?”
