To their credit, and to the whole area’s potential benefit, the Wichita City Council and Mayor Carl Brewer came together Tuesday to unanimously adopt “Project Downtown: The Master Plan for Wichita” as an amendment to the city-county comprehensive plan. It’s been a long, long process, with lots of naysaying along the way. The Sedgwick County Commission must adopt the blueprint as well. But the council members know that this plan, crafted by Boston’s Goody Clancy firm, has the requisite elements for success. The real test will come soon, as businesses seize their roles and citizens see results.
