All but one member of Kansas’ congressional delegation voted for the tax-cut deal that cleared Congress last week. Reps. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, and Lynn Jenkins, R-Topeka, issued a joint statement saying that even though there were facets of the deal they don’t like, “playing chicken with a struggling economy to prove a political point is not why Kansans sent us to Congress.” It’s unclear if their statement was aimed in part at Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, who voted against the bill because it didn’t address the national debt “caused by decades of overspending and expansion of the federal government.” Moran said: “Difficult decisions are required, and this bill provides an easy compromise that asks little sacrifice of anyone.”
