It was noteworthy that five of the six U.S. senators on President Obama’s fiscal responsibility commission voted for the deficit reduction plan. All three Republicans voted for it, and two of three Democrats supported it. But only one of six House members on the commission — Rep. John Spratt Jr., D-S.C. — voted for the plan.
