Plans by the 50-member Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla., to burn the Quran on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, could do real harm to the war on terrorism and put U.S. soldiers at even greater risk. Gen. David Petraeus, head of Multinational Forces in Afghanistan, has warned that the burnings would “undoubtedly be used by extremists in Afghanistan — and around the world — to inflame public opinion and incite violence.”
