McCain needs to step up in Senate

mccain3Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., deserves some slack for moving so far to the right during his GOP primary campaign, columnist David Broder wrote. “McCain has always been a realist, doing what was necessary to survive a North Vietnamese prison camp or a tough political trap,” Broder noted. But now that McCain easily won his primary and is assured to win his fifth term in the Senate, he needs to step up. What the Senate needs badly is adult leadership, Broder wrote, “and it’s now incumbent on McCain to demonstrate that he is prepared to fulfill this role for both his party and his country.”
