How Pompeo vs. Hartman helps Tiahrt

tiahrtnewmugThere is a silver lining for Todd Tiahrt in the heated race to replace him, observed the Kansas City Star’s Prime Buzz blog: The war of words between front-runners Mike Pompeo and Wink Hartman may boost voter turnout in the district on Aug. 3. And “Tiahrt has to do well in his native 4th District to have any chance against Rep. Jerry Moran” in their U.S. Senate race, the blog observed. What SurveyUSA calls “southeast Kansas” was the only bright spot for Tiahrt in its latest poll, sponsored by KWCH, Channel 12, which found him leading Moran 54 to 33 percent there (but trailing by 14 percentage points statewide). Moran led Tiahrt 56 to 29 percent and 67 to 23 percent, respectively, in the northeast and western parts of the state, the other two regions in the poll.
