Here’s how Larry J. Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, sums up the GOP Senate race in Kansas: “The Republican nominee will be the next U.S. senator, succeeding Governor-to-be Sam Brownback (R). GOP voters will decide between two congressmen, moderate-conservative Jerry Moran and conservative Todd Tiahrt.” Though polls give Moran an edge, Sabato wondered how much it mattered. “Either one will win and their prospective Senate voting records would be almost identical.”
