Rather than use an estimated $1 trillion in spending cuts and tax increases to expand health care coverage, President Obama should have used that money to reduce the deficit, argues columnist Robert J. Samuelson. “Obama’s behavior resembles a highly indebted family’s taking an expensive round-the-world trip because it claims to have found ways to pay for it,” he writes. “It’s self-indulgent and reckless.”
