It’s not just K-12 education that is rallying supporters to prevent further budget cuts. So is higher education. University of Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self is encouraging KU alumni to make their voices heard in Topeka. “During the current economic crisis, higher education has withstood dramatic cuts, resulting in fewer instructors, larger class sizes and fewer course offerings, especially in key areas such as nursing and engineering,” Self wrote. “Additional cuts would harm teaching and research — and our state’s economic recovery.”
