A March 12 performance by comedic ventriloquist Jeff Dunham at Intrust Bank Arena seems out of place among concerts by Brad Paisley, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, and George Strait and Reba McEntire — something that would seem more suited to a smaller venue. But a New York Times Magazine profile of Dunham said that “he has recently achieved a surreal, ventriloquial megacelebrity and has had no problem finding enough Jeff Dunham fans to pack an arena wherever he goes.” It also reported that, “in the past year, he has played 150 shows and grossed $38 million in ticket sales, far more than any other comic.”

Good show?
Don’t know. WON’T go.
Jeff Dunham is a very original and funny ventriliquist/comedean. Good clean comedy that the whole family can enjoy.
When I go see him I’ll report back if there are any empty seats. I’ll bet he sells out.
Ah! I think I know what I can get for Xmas gifts for friends now – tickets to see Jeff Dunham.
Appliance giving was getting old anyway :)
I have a personal experience with Jeff Dunham I might share some day.
It’s straight out of the movie, “Magic.”
(or one of those other dummy-overcomes-ventriloquist movies. a “Twilight Zone” episode, maybe?)
His tickets are way too high. Wouldn’t mind seeing him but too overpriced.
I plan on going,he is one of the funniest acts around, love Walter and Achmed the Dead Terrorist.
Now if they would just book Skynyrd with Kid Rock
Wouldn’t say Dunham is exactly clean, and Kid Rock played here a couple years ago personally liked him alot better before he decided to go country. Is Skynyrd even allowed to tour anymore? Last I knew Ronnie Van Zandts wife had a legal agreement that their had to be at least two pre crash members in the band to continue to use the name?
Yeah Tom they are still touring, also they just realased a new cd. There are two pre crash members Gary Rossington and Ricky Medlocke who played drums with them before he formed Blackfoot
He is funny. But an arena is too large for a comic. If I have to sit that far away I might as well watch stand-up on TV.
Proudman,
a couple of yearsa ago I was at the Collesium to see Larry The Cable Guy and the place was preety close to capacity IIRC
In selling suites and most likely the premium/club seats as well, a certain number of events are guaranteed in the facility each year so the “owners” think they are getting their money’s worth.
Sure Dunham is popular, but 14,000+?
I think he’s just a marquee name that is helping to fulfill and obligation in this case.
I’ve seen Jerry Seinfeld three times and never in a venue larger than 4,000.
Every comedy show Ive seen is either been in a Club or at Century II. I just dont see a big arena big very conductive for a comedy show esp a prop comic
Dunham plays arenas all over the country. I don’t know why so many Wichitans seem shocked by every event that IBA announces.
Also, almost all arenas are designed to be used in half-house or even 1/4 house setups with curtains that close off the un-used parts of the arena.
I don’t think they’ll need to do that for Dunham though.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I’ll bet you do. Was this after you watched him in a locker room getting dressed for ~20 min?
Are you waiting until he is sufficiently famous so your “personal experience” story will garner the highest funds from the tabloids?
Monkey’s kiss and tell.
