Parkinson getting praise

parkinsongovMany governors would get blasted for slashing the state budget. Gov. Mark Parkinson is drawing praise, from The Eagle editorial board and others. “I’m proud of him for what he’s doing,” said state Rep. Bob Bethell, R-Alden, adding, “these are things that needed to be done and needed to be done now.” “That shows more leadership than we’ve seen from the governor’s office in many, many years,” said state Rep. Melvin Neufeld, R-Ingalls. Parkinson shows no signs of changing his mind about running for his job outright next year. But the Topeka Capital-Journal editorialized that Parkinson suggested “he’s worthy of a four-year term” by standing up to the threat of a schools lawsuit. The editorial concluded: “His leadership on the matter has been even-handed, much like when he broke the stalemate earlier this year on the Sunflower power plant expansion project. Parkinson has only been in office since last spring, but he continues to create a memorable legacy.”

Parkinson would certainly be a better choice for next Kansas Governor than inside the Washington beltway, Kansas carpet bagger, Sam Brownback.

    Just to be clear –

I’m am not now — nor have I ever been — a candidate for Governor of the great State of Kansas.

    Huh?

A pollution spewing coal fire plant that Kansans did NOT want had already been ruled out and this joker caved and allowed it! Parkinson can kiss my a55

It’s just common sense – if you have costs to meet and your budget is short, then you cut back. Everyone else in the nation is doing, except for the O’BAMA administration who are spending like sailors on a drunken shore leave.

Blue Jay: “Much like when he (Gov. Parkinson) broke the stalemate earlier this year on the Sunflower power plant expansion project.”

BJ: I agree with you on this point … that power plant project will add to the disaster of the other power plants already at that site.

However, I believe most Kansas politicians jumped on that power plant band wagon including Sam Brownback.

In my mind, its a matter of supporting the less bad politician. Of course, so far, Gov. Parkinson claims he isn’t a candidate. I wish a fresh face with name identification would throw his hat into the Kansas governor’s race.

He is able to do the things he’s doing precisely because he is NOT running for governor. If he were a candidate, he would have to approach everything differently. And if he would declare now, he would lose all credibility after denying it several hundred times. I think he’s positioning himself to run for something in the future, and will be a strong candidate if he does.
