The Kansas Department of Corrections could help its budget problems if it could deport nearly 300 inmates who are potentially illegal immigrants. But doing so either isn’t possible because of a lack of extradition agreements or may not be effective. Corrections Secretary Roger Werholtz told a joint House-Senate committee Tuesday that about 80 of 293 inmates who were born in other countries and may be illegal immigrants might be eligible for deportation, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. But deportation may not guarantee that inmates would remain in prison in their home countries. If inmates are freed, they could return to the United States, which might endanger public safety, Werholtz said. The inmates in question come from 28 different countries, though most (200) are from Mexico.

If they are illegals with violent offense, then they should be deported.
If they are illegal immigrants with non-violent offenses.
Then they should be forced to choose between, being deported back to their home country, or be forced to go through a naturalization program.
Obtain legal documentation and learn to read and write English.
Might make room for the terrorists from Gitmo!
Muslims in our prisons are forcing young black inmates and other inmates into Muslim jihadist training, funded by the Saudi government.
Put the dangerous illegal aliens into the revolving door of deportation, never having adequately defended our borders or even finished the border fence mandated by federal law, and you put us all at greater risk of more jihadist attacks – probably worse than the one at Ft. Hood.
Amen Barnie!!!
A “Get Out of Jail Free” card? I don’t think so….
parkay: Well written! WHY is the obvious such a difficult situation to do something about? I just don’t understand the willingness of so many Americans and apparently the majority of our elected officials to “know” that this is going on and NOT do something about it!
People have to serve their time. Unless there’s a treaty dictating that they will be incarcerated back home for the balance of their sentences, sending them home would be stupid. If there is such a treaty, then it could be a lot less expensive than keeping them here, but I’d sure not like to see saving a few bucks become an excuse to let criminals go free, just because they aren’t citizens here.
Hmmm . . . maybe we should set up prisons in Mexico and send our offenders down there.
Perhaps we should have a prison tariff paid by countries that allow illegals into our country. :)
I’ll one up you Regular. Maybe since America is so good at housing prisoners. Maybe we should just house all the worlds prisoners, and have them pay us handsomely for it.
Or as Capn America suggested. We could set up prisons all over the world, and make money off housing the worlds prison population.
I myself don’t really like this idea. But hey, nothing is really off the table.
Cap’n,
“Hmmm . . . maybe we should set up prisons in Mexico and send our offenders down there.”
Outsourcing? We send the corrections jobs to other countries? I thought we were trying to stop outsourcing.
The illegal immigrant prisoners should be given a choice:
Deportation
Or
