Afghan election doesn’t inspire confidence

karzaiThere wasn’t much point to holding a runoff election in Afghanistan after one of the two candidates, Abdullah Abdullah, withdrew. Still, the decision doesn’t add any legitimacy to President Hamid Karzai’s government, which is widely seen as corrupt and ineffective and was accused of rigging the last election.

    Y’think?

    Afghanistan is not about Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is about the only Islamic nuclear weapons on the planet.

    Afghanistan is about Pakistan.

    Shrub/Cheney couldn’t figure that out.

Cheney told us six years ago the Taliban had been wiped off the face of the earth. “Mission Accomplished,” and all that stuff.

Leave Afghanistan to stew in its own juices, but for a while it might be a staging force to go into Pakistan and get back the nukes Ronald Reagan sent them in the 1980s.

    Thanks, CONs, for your contribution.

I suppose with Taliban threatening to ‘punish’ Afghanis that go to the polls, getting accurate results was a hard thing to implement or measure.

With that said, O’BAMA now has used up his last excuse in decision-making about the war in Afghanistan.

    But “Regular” –

(The Big) Dick Cheney assured us he’d wiped the Taliban off the face of the earth six years ago!

    Pleas try to keep up.

I’m frog-marching by myself into that empty field and you’re nowhere to be found.

(I suspect your tencil is not on the toad.)

Cheney is not in charge. O’BAMA is in charge while service people are dieing in Afghanistan, waiting for him to make a decision.

Three sizeable camps were over ran by the the Taliban in the passed few months, while O’BAMA indecision is costing service people their lives and limbs.

    Yeah, “Regular” –

Eight years of Shrub/Cheney doesn’t count anymore.

    Keep working on that argument.

When all is said and done, the Taliban is Pakistan’s problem not ours.
The War lords of Afghanistan should be left to handle the Taliban that comes from their country.

This country need to learn its lessons and stop holding up every two bit Dictator who clams to be democratic leadership. Korea, Vietnam the list goes on and now Afghanistan.

    No, it doesn’t count anymore.

Who is the current Commander in Chief is what counts.

    “writerdog” –

I may have mentioned this before.

But the issue at hand is Pakistan’s nukes.

    Afghanistan?

Nothing but a staging area if needed.

It should be easy. As long as (the Big) Dick Cheney wasn’t lying back in 2003 when he claimed he’d wiped the Taliban “…off the face of the earth.”

But that doesn’t matter anymore, does it?

I don’t know if WE Blog CONs are naive or stupid.

(Not that those two qualities are mutually exclusive.)

    Amen WriterDog.

We are not the policemen of the world. Not unless OBamaism is a world unifying event and the demcorats now believe we are the judges of all mankind.

A stretch? Just read some of the posts here.

    Monk,
“Eight years of Shrub/Cheney doesn’t count anymore.”

No, it’s not that those years don’t count; reggie and Amway and the rest of the Tinfoil Helmet Brigade simply deny that they ever happened! “Bush? Cheney? Never heard of ‘em. Who the hell are they?”
Something to do with that reactionary time warp they’re trying to conjure.

Any deal we make with Karzai will have to include his dismantaling of the opium trade and designing and implementing an adequate agricultural program to replace the poppies. If he can’t do it, we abandon him to the Taliban. They at least had ways of dealing with the drug trade.
