Iran threatened the United States over 24 hours ago.
Anything yet from the Whiner-In-Chief Obama?
[crickets chirping]
“Anything yet from the Whiner-In-Chief Obama?”
American_Way you need to give him a little slack. He is somewhat busy this week with making a decision on Afghanistan.
Check his schedule. This week he is campaigning in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Virginia. Did I mention part of these visits will be for fund raising.
He will get around to Iran and Afganistan later.
That’s Hud. I feel much safer now. (whew!)
I mean “thanks”
“The stimulus is working, a White House economic adviser declared on Monday, citing a new report that 250,000 education jobs were “saved or created.”
If the numbers are true, here’s the problem: What happens when the stimulus money runs out?
Local & State taxpayers will have to pick up the tab. Like the cops in school programs like DARE (Clinton Program), Cops on the beat programs, when the federal funds dry up the established program is difficult to end. People become hooked on the handouts and programs are viewed as vital.
This becomes an issue because instead of providing “temporary stimulus” to get the economy moving, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, because a permanent burden on the taxpayers.
“many of the provisions in the stimulus will not be temporary. Less than two weeks after ARRA was enacted, the Obama administration released its Fiscal Year 2010 Budget, which proposed to make five major components of the stimulus bill permanent, at a cost of $94 billion per year. Permanently extending the Making Work Pay Credit, the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and the refundable portion of the child tax credit, and the expansion of the American Opportunity Tax Credit would cost $82 billion per year. Expanding Pell Grants for college education would cost $12 billion annually. All told, the Obama administration’s budget seeks to make at least 37% of ARRA’s spending and tax cuts permanent on an annual basis.” Forbes
So if true, yes the stimulus is working – but any idiot can hand out other peoples money. The real skill would be creating jobs that are permanent and sustainable within the private economy.
American_Way, there is new Washington Post/ABC News poll out. I am sure we are going to hear a lot about it today but let me give you a summary of the first part.
We have a very popular President (57/40) who is leading the Country down the wrong direction (49/50) and will probably make the wrong decisions for the Country’s future (49/50). Who has accomplished “not much” (49/50).
Damn numbers, they can mean anything.

“If Nancy Pelosi wants to find a swastika maybe she should look on her own sleeve first!”
Hud, I agree numbers can mean anything and I have to be careful not to lean to heavily on any one particular poll or polling agency. But when you look at the polls overall and together, I believe you can see trends which we can at least measure performance on.
Not sure Obama is quite as popular historically as people want to believe. According to Gallup, polling data show that Mr. Obama’s approval rating is dropping and is below where George W. Bush was in an analogous period in 2001. (up to the 911 event, when Bush of course went sky high.)
Now that the Senate Finance Committee has passed its version of health care reform, 42% of voters nationwide favor the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points.. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% are opposed to the plan. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 54% are opposed to the plan. Currently, 24% Strongly Favor the legislative effort and 42% are Strongly Opposed. Rasmussen 19 October.,
My conclusion is we don’t have an immensely popular president. We have a mediocre president who has decided to shove Healthcare reform down America’s throat despite the fact that a very large number of Americans are strongly opposed and a majority higher than the number who supported Obama in the election are opposed to it.
I’m not in favor of the Senate Finance Committee’s version of health insurance reform because it doesn’t include public option. I’d prefer Medicare for all.
You CONs keep dragging out Rasmussen numbers (the ones that accurately called President McCain’s victor last November) and automatically assume declining poll number automatically makes dissenters your soul mates.
Arrogance and ignorance; what it takes to be a WE Blog CON.
This guy is amazing!!
BOSTON – President Barack Obama won the 2010 Boston Marathon on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage him to quit smoking and keep
running to stay in shape. The Boston Athletic Association announced their decision to name Obama the winner even though the race will not be run
until 18 April 2010 because the president has the desire to win and has good intentions.
In announcing Obama the winner, the president of the BAA said, “We must rise above the out dated measurements of what a person actually has
accomplished and focus instead on their intentions and what they say they will do. Intentions and talk are what drive the world.”
Congressman Barney Frank and Chinese Vice President XI Jinping seated nearby reiterated these words.
The BAA also noted that no president has won the marathon before. This would set a good example for all future presidents of the United States and for other countries such as Iran and North Korea that intentions really matter.
Many observers were shocked by the unexpected decision before the race has even been run. However, when told of his win the President said he had
really been thinking a lot about keeping in shape, talked with staff about cutting back on his smoking, and even read an article about the Boston
Marathon.
Obama added that wining the Boston Marathon was better than any other award he has received including his Nobel Prize, Tony for best performance by
leading actor, Emmy for outstanding lead actor in drama series, Golden Globe for best performance of an actor in a comedy, NASCAR Champion, World
Series Most Valuable Player, Best Twitter Page, Heisman Trophy, and Teleprompters of America Best Reader.

Somali Women Whipped for Wearing Bras
Fox News
Somalia’s hardline Islamist group al Shabaab is cracking down on residents who do not follow a strict form of Sharia Islamic law, now publicly whipping women who wear bras, the Times of India reported.
Residents tell the paper that gunmen have been gathering women in Mogadishu who are perceived to have firm busts. These women are then publicly whipped by masked men as punishment for what Islamist leaders call deception.
After the public whippings, the women are forced to remove their bras and shake their breasts, the Times reported.
“Al Shabaab forced us to wear their type of veil and now they order us to shake our breasts,” a resident, Halima, told the Times of India. Her daughters were whipped for wearing bras.
“They first banned the former veil and introduced a hard fabric which stands stiffly on women’s chests. They are now saying that breasts should be firm naturally, or just flat,” she said.
The insurgent group recently amputated a foot and a hand from two young men accused of robbery. Al Shabaab has also banned movies, musical ringtones, dancing at wedding ceremonies and playing or watching soccer.

There will be a Kansas public Whipping of women, followed by ‘breast shaking’ ceremony later in the day at City Hall.

LJ,
Two years ago I bow hunted along the Ninnescah after reading several accounts of lion sightings…Every twig that snapped, squirrel chirp, and falling leaf received my attention…
Thankfully, I made it out alive.

Iran threatened the United States over 24 hours ago.
Anything yet from the Whiner-In-Chief Obama?
[crickets chirping]
===============================
Obama can’t decide what to do yet. The Iranian election dispute must be resolved first.
“The Iranian election dispute must be resolved first.”
That one too?
“The Iranian election dispute must be resolved first.”
You mean the one Obama said that we need to but t out of, unlike the Afghanistan one where we need to butt in on?
At war in two countries without a decision. Iran threatens to attack.
And the Whiner-In_chief (WIC) has gone to war against an American broadcast company.
Another New York City fun trip is the priority for Obama today.
Maybe he’ll think about Afghanistan tomorrow.
Question: US tells Afghanistan they need to redo their election because a few tribal leaders voted for their uneducated population who can neither read or write. Yet in the US, 270 people vote for a nation which can read and write in a electoral process. In Afghanistan, a few ballots were marked with the same name. In the USA, Donald Duck and millions of dead people register to vote via ACORN, yet our elections are fair? In the United States, the majority wins the popular vote in an election only to have the supreme court of 9 decide on Bush as the winner.
Who has the “righteous” election?
“Maybe he’ll think about Afghanistan tomorrow.”
JH, you know money comes first followed closely by party. The nation and our troops dying in combat are certainly a distant third with Obama and democrats.
Here is the priority:
“Mr. Obama will fly to New York on Tuesday for a lavish Democratic Party fund-raising dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for about 200 big donors. Each donor is paying the legal maximum of $30,400 and is allowed to take a date. Four of the seven “co-chairs” listed on the invitation work in finance, and Democratic Party organizers say they expect that about a third of the attendees will come from the industry. ”
Power to the corporations right on!

Long-time political activist likely candidate for U.S. Attorney for Kansas
By Earl Glynn on October 20, 2009
Last week the Kansas City Star reported that Lawrence attorney Dan Watkins is on track to become President Obama’s pick for U.S. Attorney for Kansas. The Star reported that Obama has not yet made the nomination, and Watkins expects to know more about his potential nomination in three weeks.
Some of the press accounts mentioned that Watkins had been a longtime Democratic Party activist, and had served as the senior advisor in Kansas for President Obama’s presidential campaign. But what else is know about Watkins’ political activities?
An article in the May 19, 1978 Garden City Telegram gave some details about early political activities by Watkins:
At age 20 in 1968 Watkins helped with the unsuccessful Jim Logan for U.S. Senate campaign.
In 1972, while in Florida as a volunteer teacher in the VISTA program, Watkins helped a friend get elected the local prosecutor.
In 1974 Watkins was the northeast Kansas regional coordinator for the unsuccesful Dr. Bill Roy for U.S. Senate campaign.
In 1976 Watkins was the Douglas County chair for Jimmy Carter for U.S. President.
From roughly 1976 to May 1978 Watkins served as an assistant attorney general of Kansas.
In May 1978 Watkins resigned form the AG’s office to become the Executive Director of the Kansas Democratic Party.
An Aug 3, 1980 Hutchinson News article said that Watkins ran in a Democratic primary for U.S. Congress in Aug 1980 and that he had served as the administrative assistant to Gov. John Carlin, who was elected in 1978. I could not find a source that identified whether Watkins won that primary, but he was not elected to Congress that year.
I found few political articles about Dan Watkins during the 1980s, except for his involvement in Lawrence and Douglas County government.
In Aug 1990 Watkins was elected to be the Treasurer of the Douglas County Democratic Party according to the Aug 22, 1990 Lawrence Journal-World.
In 1993 after the election of Bill Clinton to U.S. President, the Wichita Eagle (Jan 4, 1993) identified Watkins as having expressed interest in the position of U.S. Attorney, which paid $110,000 a year at that time. Sixteen years later, Watkins’ name is now possibly at the top of the list for that job.
In 1994 the Wichita Eagle (Sept 18, 1994) said Watkins raised money for Jim Slattery for Kansas Governor:
In Lawrence , lawyer Dan Watkins works his connections in Chamber of Commerce social circles to raise money for Slattery.
With the election of Kathleen Sebelius to Kansas governor, Watkins was listed in a Jan 14, 2003 Kansas City Star article as one of her eight “circle of friends”:
Dan Watkins : The wonder boy of Kansas Democratic politics in the late 1970s, Watkins is still a party insider. He was tapped by the governor to be inaugural treasurer.
In 2004 Watkins switched his support to John Kerry for U.S. President after being an early supporter of Howard Dean. (Lawrence Journal-World, Feb 11, 2004)
Also in 2004 Watklins led the effort to retain Judge Paula Martin in Douglas County when she gave light sentences to two men who raped a 13-year old girl (Lawrence Journal-World, Nov 3, 2004). A mother of one of the victims led the unsuccessful effort to oust the judge and only received some relief when Martin’s decision was found “an abuse of judicial discretion” in 2005 by the Kansas Court of Appeals (Lawrence Journal-World, Aug 5, 2005).
In Jan 2008 Watkins was listed on the Kansas committee for Barack Obama and identified as the senior adviser to Obama for Kansas. (Topeka Captital-Journal, Jan 11, 2008).
About a month after the election of President Obama, Watkins’ name appeared in a Dec 7, 2008 Kansas City Star article as a potential U.S. Attorney candidate:
Lots of chatter last week about who will be the next U.S. attorneys in Kansas … the focus is on Dan Watkins of Lawrence . He’s an ally of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and one of the most respected Democrats around. “It’s his if he wants it,” one Democrat said.
Apparently, activist Watkins has been heir apparent for the U.S. Attorney job for about 10 months.
Shown below are all of Watkins’ known political contributions. Watkins, his wife or law firm gave about $11,600 to Kathleen Sebelius over the years. I found no other contributions to statewide candidates in Kansas.
Over the years. Watkins gave a staggering $27,074 to FEC candidates and party committees. All were Democrats except for one Republican.
A total of $38,674 in political contributions is certainly helping Watkins’ chances of getting the U.S. Attorney job. Why?

Jed I really don’t want to be a Bush apologist but you print such outlandish posts that you have to be challenged. Bush is back in Texas and believe me you have plenty of failures of Obamas to lament already.
If we continue to live in the past we are doomed to failure. Obama has a real problem with making decisions unless it is where will I have dinner tonight or which band should I invite to the White House. Those are just the facts. Right or wrong Bush made the tough decisions. Obama will eventually have to do this.
Why not stop living in the past and concentrate on the here and now?
“Real voter fraud?”
“Critics also accuse the Working Families Party of having a long association with the troubled activist group, ACORN. Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s CEO, is one of the party’s co-founders. The New York Times reported this month that “Patrick Gaspard, the White House political director, worked with ACORN in New York to set up the Working Families political party and sat on the party’s board with Ms. Lewis.”
The WFP has also endorsed New York Democratic Sen. Kristen Gillibrand, who was one of only seven Senators who voted against cutting federal housing funds to ACORN in September.”
Don’t shoot the messenger.
Excuses wearing thin for Obama, media pals

BY STEVE HUNTLEY
Have you heard the news? President Obama inherited an economic mess from the Bush administration.
You say that’s hardly news? But it’s been the message sounded over and over by the White House. Top Obama adviser David Axelrod said on one of the Sunday news shows, “He walked in the door, we had the worst economy since the Great Depression.” In San Francisco, Obama talked of being “busy with our mop.” White House heavy hitter Rahm Emanuel used the worst-economy-since-the-Depression line on a public TV news show.
You’d think it’s October 2008, the final month in the Obama presidential candidacy, rather than October 2009, nine months into the Obama presidency. Yet the Obama White House is in full campaign mode — maybe because it needs to mask the shortcomings of the Obama presidency.

It appears I’m not the only one getting tired of hearing the ‘Bush did it’ excuses.
Analysis: Courting doctors in health care battle
By DAVID ESPO (AP) – 13 hours ago
WASHINGTON — In the special interest war over health care, the White House and congressional Democrats have the nation’s drug makers and hospitals generally on their side; the insurance industry, not so much.
Now the bill’s supporters are making a play to lock in the American Medical Association, the organization that says it represents 250,000 doctors and medical students in every state and congressional district. The principal enticement, a $247 billion measure making its way to the Senate floor, aims to wipe out a scheduled 21 percent rate cut for doctors treating Medicare patients and replace it with a permanent, predictable system for future fee increases.
————–
Won’t this promise take away the promised reduction in Medicare payouts. Will that then increase the cost of the Obamacare plan?
jobless rates could be new normal
WASHINGTON – Even with an economic revival, many U.S. jobs lost during the recession may be gone forever and a weak employment market could linger for years.
That could add up to a “new normal” of higher joblessness and lower standards of living for many Americans, some economists are suggesting.
————-
Should we get ready for the lower lifestyles this administration is prepping us for.
Yes, and I believe that one of his czars has written quite a bit about that. Or at least some about that. That we should decrease, that other nations may increase.
There’s a cure for this, you know. It involves executives who take 8 and 9 figure bonuses, while offshoring their manufacturing, to reverse that trend. Pay Americans a fair wage, and cut your bonuses back to 6 figures. It’s not rocket science.
“Pay Americans a fair wage”
Problem is everyone wants to decide what is fair.
By paying union wages – all jobs are overseas.
Fair Share? What is a Fair Wage?
Evil rich people dogma. Boring.
It’s a shame that “American_Way” and “JimJohnson” hate America so much, they’d rather make people work in slave-labor conditions in third-world nations than have to pay an American worker a fair, living wage. You say you hate communists and all that, yet you’d rather buy crap from communist China than support patriotic Americans.
TomW I have always thought it was a little ironic kinda sorta like your mom telling you to ‘clean up your plate because there are starving children in Africa’ – and now you say that if we pay our workers higher wages it will prevent people in China from working in ’slave labor conditions’.
Where will these millions of Chinese go to make their slave wages if we don’t buy the products of their labors. They will all starve and the US will be the bad guys once again. Can’t win for losing can we?
BTW why do you want the poor Chinese to starve?
Actually, Okobserver, I’d like to see China live up to its own BS rhetoric and allow independent labor unions, and require that their newly emerging capitalist system treat their workers fairly, pay them living wages, and provide safe, non-polluting workplaces. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works, and many Americans look the other way because hey, we can go to Walmart and buy cheap crap for cheap.
thomas I’d say you are a communist. But socialist rings more true for you.
American_Way, you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
And you keep saying I hate America, yet you know nothing about me.
Less than 12% of American workers are union members. Most of those – are public employees who are on the payroll of taxpayers.
Not very reassuring for the almight union’s ability to rule and create jobs.
“all jobs are overseas.”
The manufacturers who did that should be forbidden to sell in the United States. I wouldn’t work for an employer without a union.
“What is a Fair Wage?”
What you pay people to prevent them from getting angry and taking charge of the distribution of wealth. That frequently goes rather hard on the “haves”.

The manufacturers who did that should be forbidden to sell in the United States. I wouldn’t work for an employer without a union.
————-
Let me help you out. You wouldn’t work for an employer. You would rather take it from someone else who worked for it as you have said over and over again.
But as someone much smarter than I am said, ‘the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money to spend’. Then you have abject poverty for the working class as we see in many third world nations today.

“What is a Fair Wage?”
What you pay people to prevent them from getting angry and taking charge of the distribution of wealth. That frequently goes rather hard on the “haves”.

Oh BJ this actually happens all of the time. We call these people thiefs and robbers. They go to prison.

Less than 12% of American workers are union members. Most of those – are public employees who are on the payroll of taxpayers.

O’BAMA is gonna take care of those Union guys with their Cadillac Health Insurance Policies. He wants to put a tax on them to help pay for the new health care.
Read somewhere about a 20 – 30 percent cost increase for their new, improved and O’BAMA taxed union health insurance.
Nice huh?
“Let me help you out. You wouldn’t work for an employer. You would rather take it from someone else who worked for it as you have said over and over again.” [Okie]
OK, where has BlueJay said anything of the kind?? Hmmmm??? BlueJay is self-employed — like YOU Okie… Since you wont work for an employer either, you must also be talking about YOURSELF!! LOL
Chas,
BlueJay as stated many times he doesn’t want to work for the ‘man.’
White House Targets Chamber of Commerce Over Opposition to Reform Plans on Health Care Reform and Climate Change Legilation
The Obama administration is trying to neutralize the Chamber of Commerce by doing an end-run around the group and dealing directly with its members.
The uneasy relationship between the Obama White House and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has steadily eroded over the past several months, with the business group’s opposition to health care and climate change legislation triggering an all-fronts backlash from the administration.

Maybe. Let’s get started and see!
“BlueJay as stated many times he doesn’t want to work for the ‘man.’”
I have NEVER referred to “the man”.
I’m not an escapee from some 1970’s sitcom. OR a cranky old lady who uses prison labor to make her money.
Here you go BlueJay. From the Chinese communist revolution. Catchy tune.

Looks cool. But couldn’t read it… let’s try this.
Socialism is good, socialism is good!
In socialist nations, the people have high status.
Overthrow the reactionaries. Imperialism flees with its tail between its legs.
The entire nation is in great unity and has raised the socialist construction to a new height, to a new height.
Socialism is good, socialism is good!
The people protect the socialist system.
The popular capacity is solid, the resistance of reactionary cliques is completely futile.
The socialist society will definitely succeed, a communist society will definitely be achieved, will definitely be achieved!
The Communist Party is good! The Communist Party is good!
The Communist Party is a good leader for the people.
It holds its promises and works of any heart for the people.
Firmly anchored to the Communist Party, it is necessary to complete, complete the construction of our great fatherland!
The Communist Party is good! The Communist Party is good!
The Communist Party guides China on the way of the power.
The popular capacity is solid, the resistance of reactionary cliques is destined to fail.
The socialist society will definitely succeed, a communist society will definitely be achieved, will definitely be achieved!
Rats, Chinese writing doesn’t show up. But can those Chi- coms write catchy lyrics or what?
“O’BAMA is gonna take care of those Union guys with their Cadillac Health Insurance Policies”
I think this was all a plot by the unions from the git-go. A few years back, the unions agreed to take on retirement plans/health insurance in exchange for billions from GM to fund them. In turn, the union agreed to lower wages for younger (starter) workers, but maintained status quo on the senior workers and retirees.
So, when the companies went broke – Uncle Sam fully funded the unions depleted healthcare insurance trust fund. NOW, the union can lobby for a PUBLIC PLAN, so the unions can keep their billions for themselves.
Very slick.
And I’m probably missing half of it.

When it happens on a large enough scale, we call it revolution…..think Marie Antoinette and Anastasia Nikolaevna.
The Nobel Peace Prize
Just like welfare and socialized health care,
you don’t have to work or do anything to get it.
What Obama is all about!
Heh, I was in China after Deng Xio Nixon “opened” the country.
I met a lot of Chinese folks . . . not a real communist in the bunch.
Xio = Xiao
Here’s one of yours, CONs.
Embrace him, love him.

The latest edition of Politico’s “Get To Know A Congressman” series features Rep. Gregg Harper (R-MS). In the interview, Harper was asked about the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, which advocates for hunters and fisherman in Congress:
POLITICO: What in the world does the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus do?
HARPER: We hunt liberal, tree-hugging Democrats, although it does seem like a waste of good ammunition.
” met a lot of Chinese folks . . . not a real communist in the bunch.”
Except maybe the guy driving the tanks on Tiananmen Square. Don’t fool yourself. The enemy isn’t going to look like a monster to you.
Heh, I was coming back to say that Daniel. Ya beat me to it.
Anybody surprised to find Okie arguing against a fair wage.
Fair is supposed to be what people like her SAY is fair.
Am_Way, you are such a tool.
The hardest thing to find in a Communist country is a communist. Just talk to a Russian who lived in the Soviet Union . . .
“the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money to spend’
Maybe. Let’s get started and see!
LOL! Classic.
That’s a keeper.
“Most people who read “The Communist Manifesto” probably have no idea that it was written by a couple of young men who had never worked a day in their lives, and who nevertheless spoke boldly in the name of “the workers”.”
– Thomas Sowell
There are PLENTY of capitalists who never worked a day in their lives. Ask okie. That’s the game.
You figure out how to get other people to work for you and then steal their labor.
Marx didn’t actually speak “for” the workers.
He simply said that since they were by far numerically stronger, they could simply take what they wanted.
Marx did not appeal to any sense of justice or fairness. That would imply a higher morality, a God, which he didn’t believe in. He argued that the rich capitalist was powerless against the people who actually produced wealth, and so those people should take what was theirs.
Capn is being a good little Kommie tonight.
“Politics is War without blood, War is Politics with blood”, a Mao quote used by the secretly Maoist, Gingrich, while in congress.
“the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money to spend’
Kind of ignores the fact that money recirculates.
The decline of the American worker will be dated back to the bush yrs., just like the recession.
Businesses can form cartels, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and syndicates. They can pool their resources and bid on major jobs, sometimes as a consortium, sometimes by using a “prime contractor” as their front. They can get anti-trust exemptions, no-bid contracts from the government, and tax abatements (and sometimes free land), just by threatening to set up shop elsewhere. They can look they other way while their employees gang rape women, and then claim the “sanctity of contract” in defense of their complicity.
But when a group of workers, whether they’re engineers or pilots or ditch diggers or teachers or whatever, has the AUDACITY, the GALL, the TOTAL NERVE to unionize, well you better call the National Freaking Guard out! They’re just going to take over and destroy that “American way” of life we guard so jealously.
What a load of crap.
Socialism will be the norm in 200 years, around the world.
Capitalism cannot be sustained with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
Either by bloody revolutions or by legislative fiats, capitalism will die.
The rich will no longer live in luxury on the backs of the poor.
If they would just avoid the wide and ever widening gap between the have and the havenots, capitalism could probably go on for a much longer time. But, like Greenspan learned, greed has no limits or mores.
Just look at the current situation, latest poll shows 57% of public want a ‘public option’, yet the Repubs are fighting it tooth and nail, even though only 20% of the public self identify as Repubs.
Phantom, hence my post from earlier this afternoon. Nine-digit bonuses? C’mon.
The problem hasn’[t been to much union influence, but not enough union influence. If the unions had of had enough clout, their jobs would never have been outsourced.
The greedy corporate communist will be the cause of their own downfall. The public won’t bail them out forever.
WS,
10 tomorrow at the Beacon?
Tom, good point, heh.
“The trouble with capitalism is that eventually you run out of suckers to exploit.”
****
WSClark–
Actually that’s what Marx predicted. That rich capitalists will become so good at amassing fortunes that eventually the people they get rich off of won’t have the money to make them rich.
We’re already getting close to this. Assembly line workers can’t afford to buy the cars they make. Wal-Mart workers can’t afford to buy the crap they sell.
It’s not sustainable.
If “ignorance is bliss,” then Regular is in seventh heaven.
BTW, it’s not coal mining or ditch digging, but when Marx lived in London, he compiled massive notes from long hours of study and then published massive books based on those notes.
Thomas Sowell . . . yeah, not so much.
He belongs to the “CONvential wisdumb” school where you just re-iterate what the power structure pays you to write.

You know Capn, I visited East Berlin back when the Berlin wall was still up. Talk about a depressing city.
All the apartment buildings were painted pea green and a sick looking pink. There was still damaged buildings from WWII. The vehicles were old, run down and the shops weren’t any better.
Of course, I saw the good part of East Berlin as tourist were not allowed off the supervised path.
I had to take the tour in uniform, being a member of the Armed Forces of the United States. I had my own personal ’shadows.’ Couple of East German/Russian dressed in 1940s style suits.
The air was heavy, polluted and smelled of unwashed streets. The atmosphere was grey, just as the faces of the people were.
Be a part of that kind of society – no thanks.
Ten AM, sharp, D.
Thomas Sowell was easily conned by the obvious lies in TGGWS.
I used to be a Republican. ANOTHER thing I never got about them? IF they are sore afraid of socialism or communism, why do they whip and beat people towards them?
There are too many cons who think that they are ‘oppressed’ by rules and regulations. The days of the old factories where they worked children to death was just a figment of the textbooks I guess. The days where Japanese Internment camp slaves died building things from dangerous work conditions or simply being worked to death, that was all imaginary- just like how it is in China. Have you ever seen the documentaries on what it is like to be a poor worker in China? I know, its a bosses dream.
Unfortunately every single one of you who would like to see this happen, would end up being poverty stricken. You might be happy to work for Koch who would own the entire town for a few pennies a day though.
Aint none of you rich enough to be one of the lucky wealthy in a fully deregulated society.
They want Mexico…just remember that.
Blue,
“ANOTHER thing I never got about them? IF they are sore afraid of socialism or communism, why do they whip and beat people towards them?”
It’s not that they want to whip and beat people toward communism, they just want to whip and beat them and have them stay there to whip and beat tomorrow and again next week. The communists offered them an opportunity to not get whipped and beaten. That’s why the cons hate them so bad!
The communists offered them an opportunity to not get whipped and beaten.
————————
Oh brother…
Yeah, the Kommies under Staling and Mao killed about 100 million people. No middle of the road whipping and beating, just “Bang!” in the head, you are dead.
Staling = Stalin
Although, a ‘Staling’ would make a good adjective for some of Left on this Blog.
