“I don’t know of too many needy people who need a fancy church building or a big gold cross when they are hungry, homeless or sick and in need of healthcare.

but you and your other church members go ahead and keep patting yourselves on the back for all the ‘caring’ you do.

I’m sure God is watching close and taking names..”

Toto… do you have any idea what I do in my spare time, or what I give to a church? Or even what churches do for the homeless and needy? I didn’t think so.

    – Attending Physician’s Office, a clinic inside the U.S. Capitol.

    – About half of the members of Congress, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, use the
Attending Physician benefit. For $42 a month, they can get all the primary care they need – physical therapy, X-rays, minor surgery, specialists and a pharmacy for emergencies – no appointment needed.

    – VIP hospital treatment from the best doctors at Bethesda Naval Hospital. And they have a reserved spot at the elite Ward 72 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center

“El Nino produced an increase in wind shear,” said meteorologist Todd Crawford of private forecaster WSI Corp.

“If you have an increase in the speed of the winds aloft over the Atlantic it acts to basically chop the heads off any kinds of storms,” he said. Wind shear is a technical term for different wind speeds at different altitudes.

Crawford also said sea temperatures in the tropical Atlantic are cooler, by about 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.12 degrees Celsius) on average, than the blistering seasons of 2004, when four hurricanes hit Florida, and 2005, which produced 28 storms, the highest single-season total in recorded history.

Hurricanes draw energy from warm water, so cooler sea temperatures can mean fewer and less intense storms

Alfred Nobel wrote that the prize should go to the person who has contributed most to the development of peace in the previous year,”

So, I ask again, with the guidelines set form by Alfred Nobel:

“What accomplishments between 20 January and 1 February 2009? that O’BAMA did that qualified him to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize?”

It appears that the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to O’BAMA was as a Leftist, Socialist boondoggle instead of being an award of something people had accomplished and earned.

What did O’BAMA do to earn this Nobel Peace Prize prior to 1 Feb 2009?

And I expect other bloggers to continue to remind DavidB who is president now, and as the dollar continues to drop over the next four years. This is assured because democrats keep spending money we don’t have and borrowing it from China and Japan, further assuring a declining dollar.

Northwest Passage successes by ships and boats:

The Northwest Passage was not conquered by sea until 1906, when the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who had sailed just in time to escape creditors seeking to stop the expedition, completed a three-year voyage in the converted 47-ton herring boat Gjøa. At the end of this trip, he walked into the city of Eagle, Alaska, and sent a telegram announcing his success.

In June 1977, sailor Willy de Roos left Belgium to attempt the Northwest Passage in his 13.8 m (45 ft) steel yacht Williwaw. He reached the Bering Strait in September and after a stopover in Victoria, British Columbia, went on to round Cape Horn and sail back to Belgium, thus being the first sailor to circumnavigate the Americas entirely by ship

In 1984, the commercial passenger vessel MS Explorer became the first cruise ship to navigate the Northwest Passage

Please libs. Join me and your fellow democrats and tell Obama to bring our troops home from Afghanistan. Please do it tomorrow.

    Monday, October 12, 2009

Potentially troubling for President Obama is that members of his own party are increasingly more supportive of a troop withdrawal.
Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Democrats now say all troops in Afghanistan should be brought home immediately, up eight points from early
September. This compares with just nine percent (9%) of Republicans and 17% of unaffiliateds.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/afghanistan/45_say_u_s_can_win_war_in_afghanistan_29_disagree

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% of voters believe it is possible for the United States to win the eight-year-old war in Afghanistan. Twenty-nine percent (29%) do not think a U.S. victory is possible there, and another 25% aren’t sure.

Sixty percent (60%) of Republicans say a U.S. victory is possible, a view shared by just 35% of Democrats and 41% of voters not affiliated
    with either party.”

The conclusion is that democrats do not have heart to fight another ten year war in Afghanistan. Obama still cannot make up his own mind!

Worse, a full third of democrats do not believe we can win.

Please email or call your leadership now: Bring them home by XMAS.

    Thank-you

    More Blood On Obama’s Hands

Family and friends mourn the loss of a Valley Marine killed overseas. 20-year-old Lance Corporal Alfonso Ochoa, Jr. was killed in action in Afghanistan over the weekend.

Ochoa was killed Saturday while supporting combat operations in Farah Province in the southwest portion of Afghanistan.

During his senior year, Ochoa transferred from Hanford West to Hanford Adult School, so that he could graduate early and enter the U.S. Marine Corps in January 2008.

Current Hanford West Principal Bobby Peters says Ochoa started developing an interest in joining the military during his junior year. He says the military was a vehicle to better his life, continue his education and serve his country.

Peters describes Ochoa as a good student who worked hard everyday and rarely used excuses. Peters said, “His is one of those stories that I tell other kids, when they maybe facing some adversity in your life, here’s what you do.”

Peters says he was very disappointed and upset to hear about Ochoa’s death.

“lack of effort”?? That would describe the Bush Administration as the storm clouds were gathering. To apply it to the Obama team is the height of absurdity.

Even Greenspan said he was totally wrong in his economic philosophy. The free markets can and will do things that damages themselves and others. Barney Frank is pushing hard to make structural changes to keep this from reoccurring. No more “head, I win, tails, I don’t lose.

Everyone but extreme ideologues agree the “Stimulus” was not only necessary to prevent a much worse collapse, but it continues working to turn things around.

    “jobless recovery”
    =-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Try to keep your talking points straight. ‘Jobless recovery’ is the mantra of administration critics who maintain that the economic recovery isn’t real.

    —————–
Daniel when some liberal media types start telling us the recovery is here and we have 17 million and climbing people out of work. Trust me this ain’t no recovery.

Remember when Obama said he doesn’t follow the market because it doesn’t matter.

Elsewhere in the New Testament, Paul wrote to Christians:

    Romans chapter 16
17 … Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people’s faith by teaching things that are contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them. 18 Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people.

A reminder on our decisive candidate Obama versus our indecisive President Obama:

As a presidental candidate, Barack Obama repeatedly said he would reinforce the U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Now, as commander-in-chief, however, Obama has thus far failed to heed the request of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, to send more troops to that country.
In July 2008, then-candidate Obama told CNN, “We allowed the Taliban and Al Qaeda to regenerate itself when we had them on the ropes. That was a big mistake, and it’s one I’m going to correct when I’m president.”

On Mar. 27, 2009, Obama announced “I want the American people to understand that we have a clear and focused goal to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat Al Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan and to prevent their return to either country in the future,”
When Obama was campaigning throughout 2007 and 2008, first against fellow Democratic candidates, and then against Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), he said multiple times that the conflict in Afghanistan was a war we “have to win,” that it should be prioritized over Iraq, and that he would redeploy at least two brigades to the country often called the “graveyard of empires.”
Aug. 1, 2007, Obama was already talking about the redeployment he would order as president: “Our troops have fought valiantly there [Afghanistan], but Iraq has deprived them of the support they need — and deserve. … As president, I would deploy at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan to re-enforce our counterterrorism operations and support NATO’s efforts against the Taliban.”

On July 8, 2008 he said he thought Afghanistan was more central to the security of the United States than Iraq. “If another attack on our homeland comes, it will likely come from the same region where 9/11 was planned,” said Obama. “And yet today, we have five times more troops in Iraq than Afghanistan.”

On July 20, 2008, Obama took a trip to Afghanistan and told Lara Logan of CBS: “For at least a year now, I have called for two additional brigades, perhaps three.” He also told Logan he believed “this has to be our central focus, the central front, on our battle against terrorism”
“Our troops and our NATO allies are performing heroically in Afghanistan, but I have argued for years that we lack the resources to finish the job because of our commitment to Iraq,” Obama said.

“And that’s why, as president, I will make the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban the top priority that it should be. This is a war that we have to win,” the Democratic nominee said.
first presidential debate, moderated by Jim Lehrer “We took our eye off Afghanistan,” said Obama. “We took our eye off the folks who perpetrated 9/11.”
He also told “CBS Evening News” host Katie Couric that the United States had “failed to seriously go after Al Qaeda over the last five years, because of the distraction of Iraq” and that “we are now seeing the consequences of that in Afghanistan.”

On Jan. 14 of this year, a week before being sworn in as president, Obama again told Couric that the United States “took our eye off the ball,” and that “our real focus has to be on Afghanistan, the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan . . . [t]hat’s my number one priority as president of the United States

Despite those comments, Obama recently indicated he may not give McChrystal the 40,000 troops the top military authority in Afghanistan says he needs for success, at least until he is satisfied that the “right strategy” is in place, and apparently in place of the “new comprehensive strategy” he outlined in March

Everyone but extreme ideologues agree the “Stimulus” was not only necessary to prevent a much worse collapse, but it continues working to turn things around.

    ———

That’s simply not true. Little of the stimulus has even been spent. I give Obama as much credit for this inevitable recovery as I gave Bush when the Dow went to 14,000 in 2007. None.

Now I hope the Obama debt doesn’t smother the recovery. Because contrary to what the liberals think, this conservative wants the economy to do well. Because I make money when it does.

This is something different. I have been posting on the Weblog for my guess – at least four years?

Although I have met a few of you, and been in email contact with even more of you, I am not living in Wichita (and hating it), like a certain slug who lives on the weblog.

I will be in my hometown over Thanksgiving weekend. I will be attending the KU-MU game on Saturday the 28th of November.

I am throwing the idea out if any WEBLOG bloggers would like to meet at the game (I will be tailgating), or over the holiday, I am extending the offer well in advance.

I am not particular, but because the party of inclusion seems to be particular, I am extending this offer to independent posters, libertarian posters, conservative (truly) posters, and republican posters first. If any liberal, democrat, or conservative democrats wish to join me in a drink, I am freely extending this invitation to you as well equally with all others (except I am not from the party of inclusion).

I am not politically correct. I am a retired Marine from a time when being politically correct maked us puke. I am a good person, well known in my community, active in the same, and an active participant in local civic organisations.

This is not a meet up. But it is an offer for a drink, or one or two, on my tab.

This is a noteworthy invitation only in that by appearing, I will undoubtedly reveal more personal info on me than I or any of you (in right mind)would want to know about me just by showing up.

I will buy rounds and have a tab at the below location. I will provide commO info at a later date.

Throwing this out there now, because I know some of you would have to make prior plans to attend. Think KU game first.

It’s all pretty obvious… IF you know how to read simple Koine Greek… Which of course, you DONT… BTW, dummy, the quotation you posted before used the words “debts” and “debtors” or did you forget that??

In Old English, debts/debtors roughly equals trespass/trespasses…. which, BTW, in either case, is a FINANCIAL TERM….

“when you said Jesus was referring to forgiveness of loans, and not sins.” [jOHNSON]

    I Didnt say loans…

The phrase in that prayer uses FINANCIAL terms… debts/debtors or if you prefer, tresspass/trespasses……..

A literal translation from the Koine Greek would read: “Forgive us our debts, in like manner as we forgive those who are in debt to us.”

So, YES, the terms are FINANCIAL… BTW, dunce, Jesus wouldnt have used “loans” since his culture had a LAW against usury.

IF somebody owes you a DEBT… not a LOAN… not necessarily even money… a DEBT, the way you forgive that debt, is the way YOUR debts to GOD will be forgiven…

Thus, if you are a hard A$* and wont forgive the debt your neighbor owes you, dont be expecting any forgiveness from your God…

GET IT??? (Of course, you wont get it… it involves a degree of abstract thought)

I am somewhat aware of the contrast of these to the Stephens 1550 – Textus Receptus (as revised by the Elzevir of 1624). Reading these using the Koine might be necessary if not for a dozen nice biblical research books published ages ago which provides a comparison and contrast of the various greek texts.
A simple Greek to English interlinear masters the skill of the Koine for any reader. The software to convert languages is freely available on the web (share/freeware) or for a price for more intensive study.

But to read Koine doesn’t bring you any closer to the way, the truth, and the light, than a dozen other research tools commonly available. However, it might make Chas feel superior and smarter than the average bear by posting about it.

” not sure of my plans yet for Thanksgiving”

Be nice to see you again JJ. I know I’ll be busy on Turkeyday itself. But I have the Friday and Saturday after free. Still waiting on start time for the KU/MU game (TBA)… That could mean I put the money on the bar Friday or Saturday.

Now there’s the words my preacher would say to me as he shakes my hand after Sunday morning services.

It’s surprising to some that Jesus was Greek, and said the Lord’s Prayer in Greek.

    (sarcasm off)

  208. Posted October 14, 2009 at 11:13 pm | Permalink

DAMN, Johnson is ignorant… Who ever said Jesus was a Greek, or said the Lord’s Prayer in Greek??? However, he MIGHT have said it in Greek, since Greek was the “common language” at that time… However, most likely, Jesus spoke Aramaic, and his words were written down by the Gospel writers in the “common language” of Koine Greek…

Instead of making a mockery, why dont you just look it up, or else admit that you dont know a damned thing of what you are prattling about???

Disillusioned liberals yearn for Hillary Clinton
    By: Chris Stirewalt
    Political Editor
    October 15, 2009

Where were you when you came to the panicky realization that Hillary Clinton was right?

For me, it was while driving to work one recent morning and talking with a colleague about the state of the health legislation. I was explaining how the Obama plan wasn’t really about universal coverage but rather cutting a deal with the insurance industry and then making it look good for liberals.

I paused, realizing that I had just repeated, almost verbatim, the lines that Clinton used to bludgeon then-Sen. Barack Obama during the Democratic primaries.

As they debated in Cleveland — the nastiest of their one-on-one matchups after John Edwards dropped out to spend more time with his families — Clinton charged that Obama wouldn’t play tough enough and would get rolled by the insurance industry.

Her words came back to me: “Senator Obama’s plan does not cover everyone. It would leave, give or take, 15 million people out.”

    Recovery You Can Believe In!

U.S. Foreclosure Filings Jump 23% to Record in Third Quarter

Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) — U.S. foreclosure filings climbed to a record in the third quarter as lenders seized more properties from delinquent borrowers, according to RealtyTrac Inc.

A total of 937,840 homes received a default or auction notice or were repossessed by banks, a 23 percent increase from a year earlier, the Irvine, California-based seller of default data said today in a report. One out of every 136 U.S. households received a filing, the highest quarterly rate in records dating to January 2005.

“The problem is prime loans going into foreclosure and people being underwater and losing their jobs,” Richard Green, director of the Lusk Center for Real Estate at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, said in an interview. “It’s a really bad number.”

Mounting foreclosures mean U.S. home prices probably will resume falling, analysts from Amherst Securities Group LP in New York said Sept. 23. A “shadow inventory” of 7 million properties are in the foreclosure process or likely to be seized, up from 1.27 million in 2005, they said.

Officials look at scenarios for Afghan ‘middle path’
White House meetings consider changing focus to holding urban areas, with fewer new troops than requested.

Reporting from Washington – As the Obama administration debates whether to shift its aims in Afghanistan, officials at the Pentagon and National Security Council have begun developing “middle path” strategies that would require fewer troops than their ground commander is seeking.

    ==============================================

No, I’m not a circuit preacher… I serve a Congregation, currently in Texas. I am what we call an Interim Pastor… When a Pastor leaves one church to move on to another, there is a Transition period… I serve as a Pastor to transition churches… I have been doing Interim ministry for over 12 years now… Before that I served “settled” Calls.

    Hope that helps.

  219. Posted October 14, 2009 at 11:42 pm | Permalink

My denomination doesnt have such a thing as a circuit preacher, except for Pastors who serve what we call multiple parishes… 2 or more congregations that share one Pastor. That is still considered a “Settled” Call.

My my, a 64 degree F temperature swing in record temperatures.

In 1975, on this date, it was 35 Degrees F warmer than the high for today was.

Must be that global warming thing that caused such a variance in temperature and cause the temperature to go down like that.
