Is Beck a white Jeremiah Wright?

beck, glennColumnist Rod Dreher warned his fellow conservatives to back away from Fox News host Glenn Beck. “Beck is a white Jeremiah Wright, a crazy-pants conspiracy theorist whose worldview is rooted in the paranoid teachings of a far-right Mormon political guru named W. Cleon Skousen,” Dreher wrote. “Before signing up as a recruit in Beck’s army, conservative Becketeers had better think long and hard about where their affable leader is taking them.”

I just went back and reviewed Glenn Beck’s sterling interpretation of artwork, and the communist plots of John D. Rockefeller. All I can say is that if he knows as much about politics and American democracy as he does about art, his skull has less content than the basketball it resembles.

You can say this for Glenn Beck: He’s charismatic, he was right on ACORN and Van Jones, and he’s correct to point out that the government in Washington doesn’t work for the common good. The affable Beck articulates the legitimate anger and frustration millions of Americans feel when faced by the fact that the country is in a hot mess of trouble.”

Last night during his CBS interview with Katie Couric, Glenn Beck said he may have voted for Hillary Clinton and that “John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama.” This comment predictably spawned confusion among some liberals and anger among some conservatives. But even prior to that, there had been a palpable increase in the right-wing attacks on Beck — some motivated by professional competition for the incredibly lucrative industry of right-wing opinion-making, some due to understandable discomfort with his crazed and irresponsible rhetoric, but much of it the result of Beck’s growing deviation from GOP (and neoconservative) dogma. Increasingly, there is great difficulty in understanding not only Beck’s political orientation but, even more so, the movement that has sprung up around him. Within that confusion lies several important observations about our political culture, particularly the inability to process anything that does not fall comfortably into the conventional “left-right” dichotomy through which everything is understood.

Some of this confusion is attributable to the fact that Beck himself doesn’t really appear to have any actual, identifiable political beliefs; he just mutates into whatever is likely to draw the most attention for himself and whatever satisfies his emotional cravings of the moment. Although he now parades around under a rhetorical banner of small-government liberty, anti-imperialism, and opposition to the merger of corporations and government (as exemplified by the Bush-sponsored Wall Street bailout), it wasn’t all that long ago that he was advocating exactly the opposite: paying homage to the Patriot Act, defending the Wall Street bailout and arguing it should have been larger, and spouting standard neoconservative cartoon propaganda about The Global Islamo-Nazi Jihadists and all that it justifies. Even the quasi-demented desire for a return to 9/12 — as though the country should be stuck permanently in a state of terrorism-induced trauma and righteous, nationalistic fury over an allegedly existential Enemy — is the precise antithesis of the war-opposing, neocon-hating views held by many libertarian and paleoconservative factions with which Beck has now associated himself. Still other aspects of his ranting are obviously grounded in highly familiar, right-wing paranoia.

I would not be surprised to read Beck totally flips out. His views on any subject is subject to change if it will garner him more viewers. He truly is a man steeped in himself, and nothing more. But, heck, Palin likes him. I’m sure that counts for . . . something.

A baseless rumor insinuating that Fox News pundit Glenn Beck may be guilty of rape and murder is spreading rapidly online thanks to a loose-knit gang of Internet pranksters whose stated mission is to skewer the bombastic talk show host using his own methods.

Their exploits are chronicled on a two-day-old website, GlennBeckRapedAndMurderedAYoungGirlIn1990.com.

“This site exists to try and help examine the vicious rumour that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990,” reads a blurb at the top of the home page. “Why won’t Glenn Beck deny these allegations?”

Don’t miss the fine print at the bottom:

Notice: This site is parody/satire. We assume Glenn Beck did not rape and murder a young girl in 1990, although we haven’t yet seen proof that he didn’t. But we think Glenn Beck definitely uses tactics like this to spread lies and misinformation.

Satire. But this is the same thing people on both sides use to discredit what they don’t like reading, be it truth or fiction. Like the birther movement, death panels etc..

Cons, you’re either being duped by some mormons pushing their religious agenda, or you belong to their org and are pushing that as well.

And those a@@hats pretend to care about the common man while they make their millions. They AND Beck should be dragged into the street and shot.

We’re suppose to worry about “reich wing” hate speech.

BJ wants to start the revolution with his sic words. We “cons” will let our 2nd ammendment rights do our talking.

Beck is an entertainer….period. What does he truly believe in or stand for? Hard to tell because he waffles on it based on where he is offered the most money. Two years ago he was on Liberal leaning CNN bashing Bush. Conservative leaning Fox signed him this past year and now he’s bashing Obama. The more wacko he is the higher his ratings = more $$$$

    probably qualifies as a rant.

Just like Obama, Beck will lead his dimwitted followers off the cliff. Damned fools fawning after Judas Goats. Beck will give you people half-truths all day long. He’ll give you half of the story and say, “this is as bad as it gets”. Scary. Mindless.

Hey all you Obama folks! Have you seen this yet? Talk about zealotry…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soSvifuYAVQ

And I ain’t gonna forget you Bushco/DHS/”protect me from brown people” people neither. You want to hear some REAL news that Glenn Beck won’t tell about? He’s gonna deny FEMA camps exist all day long, he’ll bring you under his protective wing and stick you with a bayonet.

Does the thought of foreign mercenaries with stacks of felonies, posing as police, taking over an empty prison and pulling over people in Montana seem like news to you?

    You wanted protection…you got it.

Doesn;t look like some secret government operation to me. Looks like some local guys got “taken” by a very good con man. It shows you the value of research. Something in their zeal to recoup the 27 million, they forgot

    Pleef,
What pray tell is difference between the Montana lot and any other private police force? There have been all sorts of stories about private jails, rent-a-cops etc. they all have one thing in common- they were designed first and foremost to rip off the taxpayers.

Jed, I have a post here, that these fools here want to moderate.

    Short one:

All of these piles of crap private paramilitary contractors/mercenaries are scum. Blackwater (Xe), Triple Canopy, whomever…they all deserve to be called traitors.

Difference twixt those and this APF is nationality. APF are nothing but Serbian, Tajikistan, German, Kazhakistan nationals. The APF logo is nothing but the Serbian crest.

    Compare for yourself:

Anyone that really cares about this country and not just a bunch of feel-good flag-wavin’ bs, should care about that fact.

A crown is a symbol of monarchy…gotta wonder why it’s on any uniform in America, let alone a friggin’ so-called cop uniform.

But like anything else that deserves any attention in this country, this will go unnoticed (until it’s too late). Humbly, I can freely say that EVERYTHING that I’ve ever talked about at anytime on here has come to pass. I ain’t no prophet, I just read news that matters…not some idiocy like Dave Letterman’s junk or Roman Polanski and his distraction.

Glenn Beck won’t talk about anything that matters and he will always dismiss the stuff that does.

If there are still people on here that think Obama has come to change anything or if there are people on here that believe that McCain would have done anything differently than Obama, you’re insane.

Beck will not say what is truth. He will not say that this economy is being artificially brought down. He will not say that we will be in a world of hurt because the Global bankers (The Federal Reserve and IMF, G20) want us to fail so that we demand a new currency to deliver us from pain. What do you really think this G20 meeting was about? All you need to do is Google the term “New World Order” and hit the news tab. 1000’s of stories about where we are headed.

But then again, any liar on CNN, Fox or MSNBC will call that hogwash in the same breath that they say that its true.

If America doesn’t grow up, we’re done. Regardless of which highly paid scumbag is selling us all out in the White House. Or is that forgotten that Obama was paid $500 million for his part?

Your wrong jmwalker, beck was very anti Bush, very anti patriot act. WHAT YOU SAID IS A FLAT OUT LIE! Beck is consistant, pretty much hates both parties, and will attack anyone regardless.

He has a bigger voice now than he did at HLN, no doubt about that, but I stumbled onto him then, and loved him, and love him even more now.

Thank God for him, their are no real journalist out there to keep our government honest, AND HE’S NOT A JOURNALIST! Sad for the state of journalism I’d say, that it takes an entertaining commentator to dig around and make public the things they should be doing.

I personally believe they will kill Beck. He has NO friends in high places, he is anti government on both sides (which is as patriotic as one can get if you follow even 10% of what our founding fathers preached). I think the guys in grave danger, but I pray for his well being and am thankful for the 1 hour per day I get to learn from him.
