In an article on the bonds between residents at the C Street town house in Washington, D.C., Politico characterized Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, has having been “distraught” that prominent socially conservative Sens. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and Tom Coburn, R-Okla., endorsed their fellow C Street resident Rep. Jerry Moran, R-Hays, in the state’s GOP Senate primary next year. Tiahrt has attended C Street events but isn’t considered a regular at the house, known for its Bible study and fellowship.
DeMint said: “They’re both good guys, so I wouldn’t say anything bad about either one of them. I just know Jerry better. I think he might be able to help shake things up a bit.” Coburn said of Moran: “He’s not an appropriator. He’s in a farm state, and he voted against the farm bill. He demonstrates courage.”
Tiahrt told Politico: “A lot of people are focusing their attention on the candidates in the primary because they know it’s about the future of the party. It’s not based on roommates. It’s based on ideas. And when it’s based on ideas, I get more support.” He also said: “My roommate endorsed me — I’ve been married to her for 33 years.”

Ol’ Monkey isn’t good for much, IMO. But he is an incomparable horse’s azz.
Ah!
“outlander” is reduced to name-calling!
The primary in Kansas where Moran and Tiahrt face off is a “closed” race — meaning you may only cast a vote in this contest if you are registered as a Republican.
It looks likely one of these two men will be the next Senator from Kansas. If you want to be part of that decision and vote in this contest you need to be sure you are registered as a Republican before the August primary.
It’s easy, quick, online and paperless. All you need to provide to register to vote or change your party affiliation is your name, address, driver’s license number (or non-driver’s identification card number). Your voter’s registration card will be mailed to you, usually within 10 days.

lindainks55 – Does it really make a difference? Are these two different from each other in anyway? Until now I would do anything to keep Tiahrt out. But now that I know Moran is with C Street, he is just a different kind of crazy.
Should be an interesting race, I don’t know Moran very well as his actions don’t get published much in this part of the state.
I agree janabanana that neither is the choice I would make for Senator. I find great comfort in knowing one of them will eliminate the other at the primary level. I see that as a gift.
Outside taking joy in the gift they’re giving, I just want to part of the decision. I have read “The Family,” and know about that “Bible study and fellowship” of the C Street group. The only reason Tiahrt isn’t a member is because he is a loose cannon who can’t even be trusted by those people. He’s a wannabe, he’s rather stupid. That’s the difference I see in the two candidates. Tiahrt isn’t even smart enough to understand that governing must happen while you work towards your goal of a Christian theocracy.
Why arent Kansas Democrats busy trying to run a viable candidate for the Senate seat?? Neither one of the two Repubs. are worthy of serving in the Senate… Kansas is already kooky enough without either Moran or Tiahrt…
Well Chas, even if a viable candidate runs on the Democratic ticket, won’t that viable candidate still be on the ballot in the general election where you are allowed to cast your vote for the person without regard for party affiliation?
The queen left the dims without any hope for the future. They put her so high on a pedestal only to have her use them to advance herself. The dims were so blinded by the queen they could not see how she used and abused them for her own gain.
Now she left them with no candidate and her money went with her. She got her self a job in DC as well as her husband and that is all that mattered.
How the poor little dims must feel about their queen.
She is a queen no longer and has even been given a czar to guide her to make the tough decisions.
She is a gift that just keeps on taking. Way to funny.
For Kansas Dems, there is no bush league. Kansas Dems don’t develop candidates at the base level. One thing Repubs learned a long time ago: control ALL elected positions from local school boards, city and county offices up.
And of course, there’s that “organization” thing. Repubs pull together. Dems? It’s like trying to herd cats.
“They put her so high on a pedestal only to have her use them to advance herself.”
Wait…aren’t you talking about Sarah Palin?
Sebelius served almost 2 full terms and was not eligible to run again for governor. She was a moderate voice with a level head. She gave a lot to Kansas and still is IMHO. It would have been nice if she was running for that Senate seat, but she knows a lot about the insurance industry and is in a position to use that knowledge for the good of the whole country not just for Kansans.
I agree, XXX, the Republican Party does a superior job of organization in Kansas and the other states that currently make up that regional party. That does indicate some success at local and state levels. However, their closed primaries may contribute to their ‘problem’ at the national level. Anyone their base would nominate in those closed primaries seems unlikely to be as attractive to other voters in a national contest. What a conundrum. :-)

Right Linda… Which means the Democrats have to stop handing congressional seats to the Republicans, and start mounting their own race, regardless of who the Republicans nominate…
