When she was first lady, Hillary Clinton said that a “vast right-wing conspiracy” was out to destroy her husband’s presidency. When asked Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” whether the conspiracy is still there, Bill Clinton said it was. “It’s not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically,” Clinton said. “But it’s as virulent as it was.”

It was OK to bash Bush but hands off on the Messiah Hussein OWEbama
Heaven forbid their problems are of their own making.
oh yeah…the ‘VRWC’ was out to destroy her husband…with FACTS about the lewinsky episode. Yeah..some conspiracy, dealing in facts.
No doubt the ‘vast right wing conspiracy’ caused a relapse of post-traumatic stress syndrome when ‘Her Royal Thighness’ was dodging sniper bullets in Bosnia.
What this country needs is an old fashioned MOR ‘vast no wing conspiracy’.
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky”. Yeah right. It was the VRWC that took his semen and put it on the dress.
So instead of pointing out the context in which the statement was originally made (The Lewinsky episode) and that …by gosh it turned out to be true, they are giving credence to it by asking if it still exists?
Nice job NBC.
TVRWC is vested in the failure of America. Why do they hate America?
Phantom you could be the poster boy for Slick Willie. I can’t believe he had the gumption to say this and am even more perplexed why any media representative wouldn’t laugh in his face.
Still the clown is Clinton but what is Phillips problem putting this out as a topic worthy of comment.
I have posted once and now am moving on.
vast (adjective) — very great in size, amount, degree, intensity, or especially in extent or range — Merriam-Webster
Even if you totaled up all the various fringe groups and lumped them together they don’t represent ‘vast,’ except in maybe the intensity part of the definition.
Small, obsessive groups (like those attending the 9/12 protests in DC — between 40,000 and 2 bazillion people) are loud and have all those nutty signs spelled in such interesting ways so they make great theater. Facts and logic make lousy shows even if they represent the majorities.
Okay, “lindainks55″ –
I’ve always called them the half-vast right wing conspiracy.”
That was good, Monkeyhawk! I laughed right out loud (way too hard for the little “lol” to describe)!
I wouldn’t call it a conspiracy- that would imply some dark and massive intelligence behind it. It’s just a warped mindset that’s passed down in some families for generations, sort of like siphyllis or racism, and often accompanied by either or both. People in tinfoil helmets think they’re somehow metaphysically protected and thus make ideal political cannon fodder, and there’s always someone who will use them to their own ends. Politicians simply say the Buck Rogers Secret Crypto-Power Ring Buzzwords that turn it on, and use it for their own agendas. That’s not conspiracy, it’s just garden-variety manipulation.
And remember this Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was what Hillary called the “attacks” on her husband following revelations of Billy getting a blooow job in the white house from Monica.
Remember?
Amway,
It would be difficult to find a recent or current congressman who didn’t at some time or other get his knob illicitly polished in or near the Capitol building, including, it seems now, the very ones who screamed their bible verses the loudest at Bill Clinton. While that doesn’t excuse Bill, it doesn’t reflect highly on his accusers, who while screaming at Clinton, certainly didn’t want their own sex lives explored in detail. Bill’s offense was pretty much between him and Hillary, unlike his successor who did the whole country. It was theirs to come to terms with, not yours.
“And remember this Vast Right Wing Conspiracy was what Hillary called the ‘attacks’ on her husband following revelations of Billy getting a blooow job in the white house from Monica.”
And people miss the point. It was only an obsessive, partisan, find anything investigation and by a special prosecutor and a nasty woman who who was more than willing to accomodate him that led to the “blooow job” being an issue. What right wingers don’t seem to realize was that it wasn’t that people thought Clinton’s affair with Lewinsky was OK, it was that so many of the Republicans tried to use it as a nuclear scandal like Watergate, and in the eyes of the public, it wasn’t. After all, it wasn’t the “bloooow job” that was the issue, it was that Clinton “lied” about it. And the reaction of most of the public was, “Yeah, that sucks, but….duh.”
Remember?
Should be:
“It was only an obsessive, partisan, find anything investigation by a special prosecutor, and a nasty woman who who was more than willing to accomodate him with fodder for his investigation, that led to the “blooow job” being an issue.”
It should be noted as well that the Lewinsky affair was a long way indeed from the original subject of the special prosecutor’s investigation.
Conspiracy?

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a “poll” posted on Facebook that asked users the most unsocial, unspeakable question: Should President Obama be assassinated?”

VRWC.
Hell – that was funny years ago. It’s still funny, in a sad sort of way. The VRWC is, in fact, the particular Clinton Messiah complex at work. What Hillary and Obama (to a lesser extent – I give him more credit than this) can’t seem to understand is that reasonable people may actually disagree with them. So any opposition to their point of view must be some “vast” organized, shadowy, “conspiracy.” That’s the only way, in her view, it can be explained.
That says much about her own particular Messiah complex. And her lack of understanding of millions of Americans.
The ‘jawless fish’ writes:
It should be noted as well that the Lewinsky affair was a long way indeed from the original subject…
A few inches at least…
I think the key word is reasonable there GMC.
I aint met the con yet that I found the least bit reasonable.
After all, it wasn’t the “bloooow job” that was the issue, it was that Clinton “lied” about it. And the reaction of most of the public was, “Yeah, that sucks, but….duh. – Aggie
—————–
“bloooow job”….,”that sucks”.
A groaner, or inadvertent? What do you think?
I aint met the con yet that I found the least bit reasonable.
“Reasonable” as is generally used, JR, is a way to marginalize the other side, not an evaluation of actual policy alternatives. In other words, it’s a tactical label, nothing more.
In your particular case, on the other hand, you’re so filled with hate for anyone who dares to disagree with you that what you write might be so, from your perspective. If so, that speaks volumes about where YOU are, not where conservatives are.
‘Vast right-wing conspiracy’ still at it?
All one has to do is listen to beck, limbaugh, coulter, o’reilly, milken and the rest of the right wing nutjobs to know that’s true.
“you’re so filled with hate for anyone who dares to disagree with you ”
He MEANS “you have come to the conclusion that cons cannot be reasoned with and are unreasonable and you live by that conclusion”.
Hate only enters it with the damage cons do. You don’t “hate” a fish because it swims. But you’d BEST hate a shark with a hold on your leg.
No one on WE Blog has responded to my earlier posts positing what matters is the upcoming election in Pakistan.
Forget Iran’s aspirations. The Pakis already have nukes. Know why they don’t use ‘em?
Because they know their total annihilation will be assured nano-seconds after they launch one.
If Iran could attack Israel, or “southern Europe” (Eat flaming death, Greece!) or the United States, they wouldn’t. It would be a suicide pact.
The Party of “No” is turning into the Party of “What If?” CONs dream up horrific visions of the Apocalypse (which the Twice-Born secretly pray for) only for daily radio and (cluster)Fox Noise channel talking points.
Well Monkey, you make the mistake of assuming you are talking about reasonable folk. Generally, with the Soviet Union, we were. But these wackos? Reasonably, no they wouldn’t launch. Reasonable, no they aren’t.
So, are you willing to bet our lives and future on you being right? If you were president (now there’s a thought), that attitude would be almost treasonous.
“outlander” asks –
“…are you willing to bet our lives and future on you being right? If you were president (now there’s a thought), that attitude would be almost treasonous.”
Yeah, I’m up for that bet.
Now, if you’d mentioned Kim Jong Il, I’d have to think it over. I can imagine him doing a final act of suicide by lobbing a rocket over Japan. But Russia and China and the US would respond in kind. Every nation wants a nuke. It’s a macho thing. But no nation is gonna assure its total annihilation by firing first.
It’s a Chicken Little argument.
And CONs have nothing except spreading fears of “What Ifs?”
“All one has to do is listen to beck, limbaugh, coulter, o’reilly, milken and the rest of the right wing nutjobs to know that’s true.”
They stir the fires, incite violence, not only let slide but encourage the lies and exaggerations. No matter what happens to President Obama’s approval ratings, sane people aren’t attracted by these wingnuts! In fact, they contribute to the elephant take down.
The regional Republican Party doesn’t have adequate numbers to win at the national level. The more outrageous their spokespersons are, the fewer people they attract.
I expect a viable third party will have an impact on an election not far in the future. I hope it’s what’s left of what put the grand in the Grand Ole Party before the fanatically religious, the neocons, conspiracy theorists, the ones who fantasize about lobbing nukes at Iran, others who equate gay sex to bestiality, etc. were allowed to take over the party from the sane and fiscally responsible.
“But no nation is gonna assure its total annihilation by firing first”.
——–
I’m sure that Monkey’s assurance is of comfort to one or two folks in an institution.
But what is this about Obama wanting to rid the world of nukes? No more threat of total annihilation for our enemies. Just endless hoards of Chinese eying us, ready to expand.
Welcome to the thinking world John Stossel and by the way….welcome to Fox News and getting the heck out of ABC.
• On why government doesn’t work: “Government almost never polices itself. When government agencies lose money, or fail at their missions, they ask Congress for more money. They usually get it, citing their failure to achieve their goals as proof that they need more funds.” (Chicago Sun Times, February 15, 2004)
• On the War on Drugs: “It’s not like the drug laws are keeping the stuff out of the country. We can’t even keep it out of prisons. How do we think we’re keeping it out of the country?” (Independent Institute, January 30, 2004)
• On the proper role of government: “We need government to do a few things like keep the peace, enforce contracts, create pollution laws. But government can never do anything as well as the private sector, so anything the market can provide effectively the government should stay out.” (WashingtonPost.com, April 9, 2004)
• On freedom versus safety: “Isn’t leaving us a choice what America’s supposed to be about? Patrick Henry didn’t say, ‘Give me absolute safety or give me death.’ It’s supposed to be about freedom.” (Independent Institute, January 30, 2004)
• On how his politics influence his reporting: “I look at the world with the awareness of the benefits of limited government and individual freedom in the back of my mind.” (WashingtonPost.com, April 9, 2004)

“outlander” wets his pants –
“…endless hoards of Chinese eying us, ready to expand.”
Just who are you CONs not afraid of?
The Dutch could attack and force all Americans to wear wooden shoes!
The Danes could attack and make us eat pastry!
If we don’t keep our eye on them Germans, we’ll doom our grandchildren to a life in leather pants!

Poll: Support for Afghan war at all-time low
A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Tuesday morning indicates that 39 percent of Americans favor the war in Afghanistan, with 58 percent opposed to the mission.
Support is down from 53 percent in April, marking the lowest level since the start of the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan soon after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Good post.
I always thought Stossel was a class act, and wondered how/why ABC kept him on when obviously, Stossel’s views were not in agreement with the leftists at ABC.
Two Stossel stories stick out to me, one critical of public schools, and another in support of the 2nd Amenmdent.
I was amazed at both of those stories, and that ABC actually broadcast the reports.
what a bunch of babies. it wasn’t monica the california groupie who went east to bag somebody famous it was the he killed foster they cheated with whitewater and all the dumb crap the right wing wackos could dream up with the cost to american taxpayers… $50,000,000.00 +

That’s actually not true, as anyone who has watched either of the Clintons, much less Obama, deal with challenges, particularly ideologically based ones.
There is reasonable opposition, but reasonable opposition does not cover:
“(Democrat) is a SOCIALIST!!!!! who will destroy our way of life and our country!!!!!!!”
“The Clintons are part of a conspiracy, and they murdered Vince Foster to cover it up!!!!!”
Trying to impeach a sitting president because “lied” about a bloooow job that was brought to light as part of an obviously partisan effort to try to get him on anything they could.
Pretty much anything said for the benefit of the rubes who take Glenn Beck seriously (I can pretty much guarantee, Beck doesn’t take Beck seriously, but he will happily cash checks from and otherwise egg on those who will).
Not saying that the Clintons are not arrogant, that is pretty much a given (running for president pretty much requires arrogance), but to say that the VRWC comments are directed primarily towards reasoned opposition is ludicrous.

“Good post.”
Snort! Like that assessment from JJ is a surprise.
I still remember the [FE]brilliant[/FE] expose of public education by Stossel, where he tried to prove that public education doesn’t work by comparing our education results with other developed countries…that have public education.
They were vast at one time before the had to go on the bush diet. Now they’re the slim jim rwc.
