Writer David Segal contends that “the similarities between talk radio and gangsta rap are nothing short of uncanny.” He argues: “Once you subtract gangsta rap’s enthusiasm for lawlessness — a major subtraction, to be sure — rap is among the most conservative genres of pop music. It exalts capitalism and entrepreneurship with a brio that is typically considered Republican.” Segal counts among other similarities:
– “Extolling your greatness is nearly as crucial to rap as it is to talk radio.”
– Both base credibility on claiming “to have hordes of detractors.”
– Without verbal skills, “you can’t rap and you’ll never make it as a talk radio opinion-machine.”

Yep. I can’t hear the difference between Rush, “flatulence in broadcasting”, Limbaugh and Snoop Dogg . One’s an old fat white, drug addicted, thrice divorced ultra right wing racist, and the others makes rap music. The similarities are mind boggling.
Talk radio similar to gangsta rap?
========================
What is with you people?
HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAH
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh
HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAH
Pathetic. Simply pathetic.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAH
I disagree. Gangsta rap requires creativity.
Talk radio is just telling slack jawed idiots what you have brainwashed them into thinking they want to hear.
Gangsta rap requires creativity.

I don’t think so.
Most of them can’t figure out how to use a belt.
(Beating women with the belt is not its proper use)
What is it that the RushBall always says, [he has] “talent on loan from God.”
Yeah.
Maybe that’s why God struck him deaf.
The dude isn’t listening to God, that’s for sure.
Waste of electrons. Big.
“Once you subtract gangsta rap’s enthusiasm for lawlessness — a major subtraction, to be sure — rap is among the most conservative genres of pop musiczzzzz”
Uh yea, sure. if you say so.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAA!
Unless you invoke the vernacular of gansta rap into a radio talk show like ‘ nappy headed hoes’, then you get fired from MSNBC as such things are never said in Gansta rap. (cough)
BTW. I saw that Imus will be back on air on Fox Business Channel.
Both are usually talking a bunch of trash that I turn a deaf ear to, so I can see a similarity there.

You know, I always liked Imus. Kinky Friedman is one of my all time favorites and it was fun to listen to the usually staid politicians and media representatives get a little bit loose and engage in conversation that you weren’t likely to hear on C-SPAN. Also, Imus raised a shiat-ton of money for what I consider to be a worthwhile charity.
The idiot yokels who replaced Imus in the Morning on 98.7 are impossible to listen to for more than 30 seconds and have prompted me to switch over to KMUW full-time since the change.

Now THAT’S funny, I don’t care who you are.
Is bluejay joking or is that stupid and has never listened to rap?
No, I don’t listen to gangsta rap.
Presumably it at least has to have a beat and lyrics that rhyme. That’s at least two intelligence factors over talk radio which is nothing more than the venting of personality disorders for an audience.
Another simply stupid, idiotic and generally worthless thread title.
Phillip, you are sounding really desperate, even more so than normal.
Hee hee! Rush thinks he is funny!
Jay Leno had him drive an electric car on a closed course. Rush made great sport of running over a stand in for Al Gore, backing over it, and then running over it again.
Rush should know, the same sort of sentiment is held against him. I’d enjoy seeing a railroad spike driven through his forehead!
guccltg- Thank you,mupynak.Great site.

Geeze, a little unresolved anger problem there BlueJay? Live with it.
BJ Rush would think you are very funny. He could make great sport of you. I really should introduce him to some of your ‘writings’. His audience would crack up. Talk about What is Wrong With Kansas.
“His audience would crack up. ”
How? Only the high end models can read. What’s REALLY funny is the occasions when fatmouth pwns his own audience and they don’t even get it.
I’ll live to dance on the graves of him and everything he believes in.

Maybe, maybe not. With your anger and hate you are on a very short fuse.
I’ve listened to gangsta rap.
In a rare consensus, I think we all agree that Segal is a moron, seeking a headline-catching buzz.
But I in fact can recommend some gangsta rap.
Public Enemy: “Nighttrain,” “Polywanacraka,” “Fight the Power”
Ice-T: “That’s how I’m livin,” “I ain’t new to this”
That doesn’t mean that I’ve ever considered Farrakan less than an idiot, or that I endorse any of the cartoonish criminal activities, or over-the-top misogyny and extreme violence in some of the lyrics.
By the way, Johnny Cash shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.
Many seem to be attracted to the message of hating others.
