Some of the reports of the resignation of White House “green jobs” adviser Van Jones (in photo) have omitted a key point. As the Washington Post reported: “Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck began the drive against Jones. Beck’s campaign grew more vitriolic after a group Jones founded in 2005, ColorofChange.org, led an advertising boycott against his show to protest Beck’s assertion that Obama is a racist.” The group’s current executive director, James Rucker, has said that Jones now has nothing to do with the group and didn’t know about the anti-Beck campaign before it began. In any case, Jones, whatever his qualifications, had become a distraction for President Obama.

Bring on the next watermelon.
Wow — Didnt take long for the racial slurs to start… Got you hood and white sheet back from the cleaners Heckler?? LOL
Hey chas, only a racist would assume that a watermelon reference in regards to a black man is racist. Actually, in the case of Van Jones, it is totally appropriate. Watermelon refers to one who is “green” on the outside, but “red” on the inside. If that doesn’t describe Van Jones to a T, than nothing does.
Chas
Green on the outside= enviro-wacho.
Red on the inside= commie.
As Chris said- “only a racist would assume that a watermelon reference in regards to a black man is racist.”
Why are you people(lefties) so obsessed with race?
Well, there’s two….
Chas played the race card early today. Not bad for a racist pig, I guess.
Jones was right.
Republicans ARE a holes. And Glenn Beck is one of the biggest. Only thing comes from him is sh_t.
Chas
Another definition.
Watermelon = EnviroMarxist; one who uses power gained through environmental regulation to redistribute wealth.
The division and hatred continues to grow.
I wonder if Beck feels comfortable traveling without a security detail?
That will be hard to pay for. Now that all of his sponsors are gone!
Heckler = brown nose. And not because he is African American. It’s from pushin’ the peanut where boss man tells him.
Jones is old news. Obama has at least 30 more Czars that are unaccountable to Congress and the American people. Who should we get rid of next? How about:
Energy and Environment Czar – Carol Browner
Title: Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change
Salary: $172,200
Reports to: President Obama
Appointed: January 2009
Agency that might have handled similar issues: EPA
• Coordinates energy and climate policy, emphasizing regulation and conservation.
• Was Environmental Protection Agency administrator in the Clinton administration (1993-2000)
• Was Florida Secretary of the Environment (1991 to 1993)
• Founded and continues to serve as a principal of The Albright Group LLC, a global strategy firm led by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Also a principal of Albright Capital Management, an investment advisory firm that concentrates on emerging markets.
• Worked on the Socialist International’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which argues that the global community must work collectively to address environmental policies
• Described Bush administration as the “worst environmental administration ever”
• While orchestrating private discussions between the White House and auto industry officials on vehicle fuel efficiency standards, kept the talks as quiet as possible. Mary Nichols, the head of the California Air Resources Board, said, “We put nothing in writing, ever.”
• 2003: A federal judge held the Environmental Protection Agency in contempt for destroying computer files during the Clinton administration that had been sought by a conservative legal foundation. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth also ordered the EPA to pay the Landmark Legal Foundation’s legal fees and costs because the agency disobeyed his order to preserve the electronic records of Browner, the former EPA chief.
Grasseater bleats for the Fellow Traveler who was exposed for what he is. An America hating Marxist.
And makes yet another veiled reference to violence!!
“Heckler = brown nose. And not because he is African American.”
Chas, you had better talk to BJ because this seems to call African Americans “brown noses”.
If you want to get rid of the next biggest commie in the Obama Administration then I would recommend:
Science Czar – John Holdren
Title: Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisers on Science and Technology
Salary: unknown
Reports to: President Obama
Appointed: December 2008
Confirmed by Senate: March 19, 2009
Agency or department that might have handled similar issues: Energy
• Top adviser to Obama on science and technology, issues that are increasingly relevant to other issues such as homeland security, energy and environmentalism
• Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy and Director, Program in Science, Technology, and Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (1996-2009); Harvard University Professor of Environmental Science and Public Policy (1996-2009); University of California, Berkeley Professor of Energy and Resources Emeritus (1996 to present)
• Studied aerospace engineering and plasma physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology — where he earned his BS and MS — and Stanford University, where he received his doctorate in 1970
• Is an outspoken advocate of the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and believes the United States should sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty.
• In a 2008 New York Times op-ed, Holdren called climate change skeptics “dangerous” members of a “denier fringe.”
• In 1971, co-authored a paper in Global Ecology suggesting “some form of ecocatastrophe, if not thermonuclear war, seems almost certain to overtake us before the end of the century.”
• Some conservative media outlets have called attention to a book Holdren co-authored in 1977 titled Ecoscience: Population, Resources, and Environment. The book reportedly includes this statement: “population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution.” Holdren’s office says he “does not now and never has been an advocate of compulsory abortions or other repressive measures to limit fertility.”
I’ll mention it to him next time I see him…
It’s sad that a good and willing public servant was lost to us because of the rantings of Beck and some of his fellow right wing lunatics.
It’s time for the left to fight back. Start fighting these people on their own terms. I hope the campaign to destroy Glenn Beck shifts into overdrive.
Heh, maybe he will be the one to do it with another crying jag.
“• Teresa and John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy and Director, Program in Science, Technology, and Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (1996-2009); Harvard University Professor of Environmental Science and Public Policy (1996-2009); University of California, Berkeley Professor of Energy and Resources Emeritus (1996 to present)

Looks like a pretty darned good curriculum vitae… We could use more of this education background working in government…
“Red on the inside= commie.”
Interesting… Republicans are portrayed on election maps with the color “RED” LOL
Chas says “Interesting… Republicans are portrayed on election maps with the color “RED” LOL”
A change made by the news networks about the beginning of the Clinton era. Previously Dems were shown as red, a far more appropriate color for them. The networks seemed to think it reflected badly on the left to be shown as being “red”.
Hank tries to impugn the reputation of John Holdren because as a science advisor (Czar) he argues that science policy should follow, you know, actual science, and the reputation of Carol Browner because she is, well, an environmentalist.
Personally, I think Jones resigning was a mistake. One of Obama’s weaknesses, I think, is that he doesn’t seem to fully understand how right wing fanaticism is its own worst enemy, but you still have to engage it. The fact of the matter is, most people outside of the politically obsessive right didn’t even know who Jones was until he resigned. I mean, if Beck wanted to make a big deal of an organization that Jones founded boycotting him because he called Obama a racist? Let him bring it on the public stage, and see who comes off worse in the minds of the foul weather voters. Pretty sure it would have been Beck, and those whose viewpoints he purports to represent. There is a reason why that tool is losing advertisers.
“Heckler” starts the day –
“Bring on the next watermelon.”
So there is a whole glossary of wing-nut code words, despite “GMC70’s” insistence there’s no such thing.
Like the whole “czar” brouhaha.
“Holdren’s office says he “does not now and never has been an advocate of compulsory abortions or other repressive measures to limit fertility.””
Isn’t it amazing how many in the Obama administration have written books expressing opinions which they now say, “does not now and never has been an advocate”?
Yeah to say that comment was in reference something else is absurd. I’ve been on blogs a long time and never have I seen that term applied that way. Got a source showing someone ELSE using that term that way? Heckler? Chris? Anyone?
Cons- making sheet up to cover their ashes. At least we really know now why Beck goes after people, personal vendettas. Obama needs to quit letting the cons win- anything. It just empowers them to continue on the attacks.
So Hud, have you READ the book???
Yea, Obama should appoint more Horse Show experts and industry insiders…
This “unaccountable Czar” is such BS. They are the directors of departments and offices, in positions no different than previous administrations’ directors.
But of course you know that…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eco-socialism
Go Glenn!!!
Hud has never read a book, this much is obvious
“Why are you people(lefties) so obsessed with race?”–Heckler
Because they are the most racist people of all. Race is always in the forefront of their mind and they are continually trying to hide that and direct it to others through accusation.
“Go Glenn!!!”
You shouldn’t have to wait long. Even Fox “news” aint gonna keep him when all the ad revenue is gone. Maybe they’ll move him to their financial network so he can finish it off.

Ratings=Money
How’s Rachel Maddow’s ratings?
Ratings=Money
Yea, but only when your sponsors arent boycotting your program!!
“I mean, if Beck wanted to make a big deal of an organization that Jones founded boycotting him because he called Obama a racist? Let him bring it on the public stage, and see who comes off worse in the minds of the foul weather voters.”–the jawless fish
Ah….NO! That’s just what did happen and we see clearly the result of it being brought to the public stage, and that is ‘bye-bye Jones…..go find another job’, and this time out of the public sector.
Glenn will do just fine Chas, don’t you worry about that.
“Ratings=Money
Yea, but only when your sponsors arent boycotting your program!!”–Chas
But they’ll be back and in greater numbers than ever.
Watermelon is a racist word – otherwise why would one of those sore loser Republican elected officials email a picture of the White House lawn filled with watermelons after Obama won the election?
For the record, the racist side of the Republican Party used to be Democrats until the Civil Right Act passed – then they all switched to Republicans.
For those of you who don’t know – that is the Southern White Male block of the GOP. I do believe they are the ones primarily engaged in all that KKK stuff. Were they not?
Van Jones promotes and creates private-sector jobs that help the environment. Losing this desk job won’t slow him down.
Anti – how can you support a grown man that does nothing but cry, and cry, and cry?
Is that someone you want to grow up to be like?
Beck’s ratings are through the roof. With ratings come advertising support, and that will be back when the initial hoopla quiets down some, and probable more so if it doesn’t.
“ANTI” –
Ratings don’t mean squat when 51 advertisers have pulled their commercials from Beck’s show.
Are you boycotting Walmart? Or Applebee’s, Bank of America, Bell & Howell, DirecTV, General Mills, Kraft, Regions Financial Corporation, Travelers Insurance, and Vonage…?
Perhaps you should bone up on the mechanics of commercial media. “okobserver” claims to be an expert.
“Because they are the most racist people of all. Race is always in the forefront of their mind and they are continually trying to hide that and direct it to others through accusation.”
Well, this does define Chas.

Do boycotts work? Well the leftist sponsored advertiser boycotts just destroyed Rush Limbaugh. I think Glenn Beck can expect to be punished just as severely.

So, Glenn Beck is a coward and bully – and that is something you admire? Beck stoops so low as to get revenge on Van Jones because he founded an organization that boycotted his show – even though Van Jones is no longer involved with that organization.
Wow, Glenn Beck truly is a miracle man – maybe he will someday take over Rush’s #1 spot.
What will Jabba the Rush do then? I’d like to see Rush and Glenny fight it out and see which one cries first – my bet is on Glenny.

The KKK were so secure in their beliefs that they had to wear hoods to cover their faces. The same is true today – racists always try to cover their faces while spewing their hate.
But hate is a cancer and that cancer will destroy everything it touches. The Republican Party is filled with alot of haters.
Maybe the GOP will go the way of the Whigs?
Not from where I sit – your feet stink of a cancerous smell…
“Well the leftist sponsored advertiser boycotts just destroyed Rush Limbaugh”
Wait til we get the Fairness Doctrine back baby!
Anti – do some Google research and then get back to me about that watermelon White House email. It was right after the election – when alot of other racist emails were flying out of other elected Republicans and on their work computers – no less.
Now that was stupid. But, then again, nobody has ever said Republicans are smart.
I still don’t even know why this guy was forced to resign. Calling for an investigation of anything shouldn’t get ANYONE in trouble.

Not interested.
That will be hard to pay for. Now that all of his sponsors are gone!
junior, Beck paid more in taxes last quarter than you “earned” over the last 5 years.
Rush serves a valuable purpose to the Lefties – it shows just how crazy and obsessed these Righties are with hating Obama.
With every show, Rush shows exactly what the GOP is today – a bunch of sniveling, crying, whining, moaning and complaining sore losers. (and these are their good points).
PMama — Most likely so he wouldnt draw more attention away from the more necessary parts of the Administration’s goals/objectives…
“Watermelon” is not necessarily a racist term (it can be), but in this case it is a deliberate attempt to tweak the nose of those looking for reason to be offended.
It worked.
But omg if HILLARY sheds ONE tear for her country- that’s a national incident according to the cons. When Glen Beck weeps onstage numerous times over overblown nonsense- that’s just fine and dandy.
God I hate cons. Total ashhats.
Heckler aint that clever outlander. He’s a bigot just like you.
“ANTI” shares –
“I don’t know what you are talking about.”
That’s a fair trade-off, I guess, since you rarely seem to know what you are talking about.
From the Orange County Republican Chairman’s Christmas card last year:

That’s what I thought Anti – you really don’t care about the truth – do you?
Are you trying to get a job with Cry Baby Glenny or with Rush? I’m sure either one would be just fine working with such an upright, ‘real’ American like yourself.
And Solly – there is more to life than making money – or don’t you know that?
What a pitiful bunch the GOP is today.
Hey, when is the public stoning scheduled for Laura Bush and Newt Gingrich for defending Obama’s speech to the school kids?
I assume there is one scheduled – after all, the GOP cannot tolerate two of their own to dare to cross the GOP lockstepping chorus line – can they?

I have read the petition Van Jones signed. Reading it was apparently more than Jones did.

When was the last time a GOP leader referred to an entire political party as a bunch of “arseholes”?
Hypocrisy, thy name is….
Guy goes into a bar, there’s a robot bartender. The robot says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini.” The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “168″. The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and medical technology. The guy leaves, but he is curious, so he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says, What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini”. Again, the robot makes a great martini, gives it to the man and says, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “100.” The robot then starts to talk about NASCAR, Budweiser and John Deere tractors. The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. He goes back into the bar. The robot says, “What will you have?” The guy says, “Martini”, and the robot brings him another great martini. The robot then says, “What’s your IQ?” The guy says, “Uh, about 50.” The robot leans in real close and says, “So, you people still happy you voted for Obama?”
I suppose this is racist or is it just pointing out the lower IQ of the left.
I accept this new definition of “watermelon” that has recently emerged, but the timing is curious, and predictable. It doesn’t take a Rhodes scholar to connect the dots:

Watermelon is a racist word
=====================================
I carved up a watermelon.
John Holdren has long been a respected scientist in his field. I am familiar with his work from Scientific American magazine.
As for Van Jones? Can’t say I heard of him, but what sane connection did a handful of political statements have to do with fitness for the “green czar” position?
Quite frankly, I would be appalled if anyone in that position didn’t know Republicans were primarily aszholes.
One time I threw a watermelon off of a third floor balcony…It went splat.
Now we just need a full assault on Holdren.
Why stop with Holdren? End Science Now!
“…because he beat you at your own game and you can’t stand it.”
Game? What game are you playing?
“Now we just need a full assault on Holdren.”
BRING IT ON!

Neither is Chas apparently. He jumped right in the middle of it. I thought Monkey”boy” would bite first cause he’s all race obsessed and biggoted as they come. He must have slept in today.
Rage, quit acting like a watermelon.
I think the photo should have been of a patch of tomato plants, the primary ingredient for Borscht.
Now that would have really been FUNNY.
Gosh that was productive.
Point taken, but Jones was talking about Washington politicians (Republican lawmakers), as I was.
And he was right.
“I thought Monkey”boy” would bite first cause he’s all race obsessed and biggoted as they come.”
I disagree. My money would have been on Chas. He never lets a day go by without a racist comment.
I HOPE the left is starting to get it.
Cons are NOT fellow Americans who just have a harder head and a smaller heart. They’re enemies and they should be treated as such. They’ve got a 100 year and more jump on us. Let’s start fighting back while we still can.

The really disturbing thing is not that Jones resigned, but that the White House’s unsupportive response made it inevitable.
What, indeed, will happen when Glenn Beck starts gunning for Holdren?
I agree with Agnatha. As distracting and infuriating as it may be when you’re trying to accomplish serious work, these clowns need a forceful response.
It seems Team Obama has forgetten they lesson the learned so well during the election, and will be Dukakised over and over if they don’t wake up.
Borscht (also borsht, barszcz or borshch) is a soup that is popular in many Eastern and Central European countries. In most of these countries, it is made with beetroot as the main ingredient[1][2], giving it a deep reddish-purple color. In some countries, such as Ukraine, tomato may occur as the main ingredient, while beetroot acts a a secondary ingredient. Other, non-beet varieties also exist, such as the tomato paste-based orange borscht and the green (zelioni) borscht (sorrel soup).

It’s amusing that the libs think it is just a matter of not supporting the communist professor. That if they had just stood by their guns, they could have had their communist professor in the White House and the American people would have understood. Uh huh.
I think that either Obama didn’t want to hand his critics a club they could repeated beat him with (likely), or maybe he genuinely didn’t know about the propensities of his Green Jobs Czar.

From the respected Wall Street Journal
“EDITORIAL EXEGESIS
“The abrupt resignation of White House aide Van Jones, deep in the news hiatus of Labor Day weekend, will probably be forgotten in a few days. But it’s a story that still deserves elaboration for what it says about the political coalition that helped to elect President Obama and whose demands are leading him into a cul-de-sac. As a candidate, Barack Obama was at pains to offer himself as a man of moderate policies, and especially of moderate temperament. He said he would listen to both the right and left, choosing the best of each depending on ‘what works.’ He sold himself as a center-left pragmatist. When his radical associations — Reverend Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers — came to light, Candidate Obama promptly disavowed them. Now comes Mr. Jones, with a long trail of extreme comments and left-wing organizing, who nonetheless became the White House adviser for ‘green jobs.’ This weekend he too was thrown under the bus. However, Mr. Jones wasn’t some unknown crazy who insinuated himself with the Obama crowd under false pretenses. He has been a leading young light of the left-wing political movement for many years. His 2008 book — ‘The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems’ — includes a foreword from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and was praised across the liberal establishment. … Mr. Jones was a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, which was established, funded and celebrated as the new intellectual vanguard of the Democratic Party. … Mr. Jones’s incendiary comments about Republicans and his now famous association with a statement blaming the U.S. for 9/11 had to have been known in some White House precincts. … Our guess is that Mr. Jones landed in the White House precisely because his job didn’t require Senate confirmation, which would have subjected him to more scrutiny. This is also no doubt a reason that Mr. Obama has consolidated so much of his Administration’s governing authority inside the White House under various ‘czars.’ Mr. Jones was poised to play a prominent role in disbursing tens of billions of dollars of stimulus money. It was the ideal perch from which he could keep funding the left-wing networks from which he sprang, this time with taxpayer money. … No President is responsible for all of the views of his appointees, but the rise and fall of Mr. Jones is one more warning that Mr. Obama can’t succeed on his current course of governing from the left.” –The Wall Street Journal

“A group of global-warming deniers funded and run by a big oil interests is taking credit for the resignation of President Obama’s green jobs advisor Van Jones. In a column on the Fox News website, Phil Kerpen of Americans for Prosperity, a group that claims that climate change is a hoax, called the downfall of Jones “one of the most significant things I’ve ever had the honor of being involved in.”
Americans for Prosperity is reportedly funded by the ultra-conservative oil baron Charles G. Koch, who also is the chairman of the organization. The group’s primary mission is to derail Obama’s climate-change initiative, also known as “cap-and-trade.
. . .
As Kerpen tells it, he prompted Fox News host Glenn Beck to go after Jones after he discovered the East Bay Express’ 2005 profile of the Oakland activist/environmentalist. “

The Union of Concerned Scientists = The Union of Communist Political Scientists
ExxonMobil has funneled nearly $16 million between 1998 and 2005 to a network
Over the last two decades, US taxpayers have subsidized the American climate change industry to the tune of $79 billion.
16 million can out shout 79 billion. Hmmmmm.
“According to the report, ExxonMobil has funneled nearly $16 million between 1998 and 2005 to a network of 43 advocacy organizations that seek to confuse the public on global warming science”
“$40.61 billion last year – or nearly $1,300 per second in 2007. That exceeded its previous record of $39.5 billion in 2006″
So, from 1998 to 2005 they spent .02 % of the profit from just 2006 and 2007, and someone calls that a major push? Yeah, okay.

Since the 70’s!?!?!?!
And the science still isn’t settled? Wow. And $79 billion from the US alone? And 16 million can bring it all down. Sounds pretty shaky to me.

“In today’s world, however, the number of children in a family is a matter of profound public concern. The law regulates other highly personal matters. For example, no one may lawfully have more than one spouse at a time. Why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?”

My guess is Holdren’s pentulance towards families with more than 2 kids comes from his inability to get laid.

16 million over what? 5 years versus 79 billion (recently contributed by the American tax payer) and ~40 years.
Looks like that dog won’t hunt.
From John Holdren’s book:
“One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption—especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone. If a single mother really wished to keep her baby, she might be obliged to go through adoption proceedings and demonstrate her ability to support and care for it. Adoption proceedings probably should remain more difficult for single people than for married couples, in recognition of the relative difficulty of raising children alone. It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.”
More from the book:
“Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.”
Seems to be a pattern here and you idiot Kool-aid drinkers want to talk about ‘context’? What context do you want to put such outlandish, radical, statist remarks in so you can rationalize their meaning to be other than what it is?

2 observations:
1. Who cares?
2. You can’t fix “stupid”.
“Though a little scandal might alienate advertisers, it’s pure ratings gold.”—American_Way
Am_Way, and from what I’ve read the advertisers haven’t left, just switched from airing on Beck to other Fox programs. They distance themselves from identifying with Beck so as not to alienate some brain dead viewers but their ads are still seen as those watching Beck are also watching the others for the most part.
What is wrong Chas?
Do you feel bad about your noose tying past?
Or are you upset Byrd made you ride a mule?
Boxlock your post is what I have heard on Fox news.
The advertisers still get their ads, Fox still gets the revenue, and Glenn Beck still gets the ratings!
Win-win situation all the way around.

It’s always gratifying to show a party in its death throes.
The 2009 Republican Party goes into history much the same as the Whig Party.
“You’re wearing out scroll wheels.”
Very little energy consumption in that. But you should try to reduce your mouse resistance.
” 2009 Republican Party goes into history ”
That’s a guess on your part. No facts. But something we can bet on.
Hoping for a challenge from somewhere else. Perhaps an Independent. Perhaps everyone will get fed up with the spending and Ron Paul will stand up as a true Libertarian.
Healthcare, financial reform could crowd out climate bill
U.S. Senate Democrats skeptical about climate bill
*Moderates pushing narrower energy bill instead
By Richard Cowan
WASHINGTON, Sept 9 (Reuters) – Several U.S. Senate Democrats, including a top leader, on Wednesday questioned whether it would be possible to vote on a climate change bill this year, especially with healthcare reform eating up so much of the lawmakers’ time….”
Ops….hey cosmos, it doesn’t look good for your obsession this year. Gosh, too bad.

Actually, if they can make the climate bill stronger next year, I’d prefer that it be delayed until then.
Go Glenn!!
