ACORN has received a grand total of $53 million in federal funds over the past 15 years — an average of $3.5 million per year. Meanwhile, not millions, not billions, but trillions of dollars of public funds have been, in the past year alone, transferred to or otherwise used for the benefit of Wall Street. Billions of dollars in American taxpayer money vanished into thin air, eaten by private contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan. So with this massive pillaging of America’s economic security and its control of American government by its richest and most powerful factions growing by the day, to whom is America’s intense economic anxiety being directed? To a nonprofit group that devotes itself to providing minute benefits to people who live under America’s poverty line. Apparently, the problem is not that taxpayer dollars are going to prop up billionaires, oligarchs and their corrupt industries. It’s that America’s impoverished — a group that is growing rapidly — is getting too much, has too much power and too little accountability. — Glenn Greenwald, Salon.com
The Census Bureau recently severed ties with the advocacy group ACORN, and the Senate voted to deny it access to federal housing funds. That’s the good news. The not-so-good news is that it took this long and hidden-camera video footage of ACORN workers apparently advising others to commit crimes before officials would act. Allegations of fraud have dogged ACORN for years, sometimes resulting in convictions. Florida authorities recently arrested 11 ACORN workers and charged them with submitting fake voter-registration papers. The videos, which were made by self-described conservative activists, show ACORN employees exhibiting disdain for the law. In one, a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp are given advice on how to open a brothel and launder the ill-gotten earnings. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., called on Congress and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to investigate ACORN. That’s a good start, but the videos suggest that a Justice Department criminal investigation is also needed. — Wall Street Journal editorial

Word of the day
Obfuscate: to make obscure or unclear: to obfuscate a problem with extraneous information.
Used in a sentence: Glenn Greenwald tries to obfuscate the ACORN scandal by bringing up unrelated issues.
Fraud and abuse should never go unreported or under reported. ACORN was UNDER reported for years as the media and liberals swept it under the carpet.
There is little left holding out nation together once confidence in the fair vote is lost. Our democracy falls apart when people no longer trust the election.
Just ask libs – they know all about this.
When you carefully read the ACORN transcripts the accusations that ACORN was advising others how to commit crimes evaporates. The clips shown on television are carefully edited.
For example, in the San Bernadino tape, an ACORN employee, probably a receptionist, and clearly a woman with some mental problems, told the posers she wasn’t qualified to advise them, said that ACORN couldn’t help them under the circumstances described, and added that her boss would fire her if she even knew about the conversation they were having.
In the (LA I believe) case the ACORN worker contacted the police after being interviewed, and consulted with a child trafficking officer.
In the New York case, the faux poser was told to save her money, and warned that otherwise she’d end up burnt out and on the streets. Advice to bury her money in the back yard had nothing to do with tax evasion, but was in response to a red herring in the conversation about hiding income from a pimp. The faux sex worker was in fact told to keep track of her income and pay taxes on it if she wanted to qualify for a housing loan.
In the Baltimore case, in which the workers are accused of counseling tax evasion, the posers were actually told that people without social security numbers couldn’t be claimed as dependents, exactly the opposite of what Fox News and others are claiming. That part of the clip was conveniently edited out.
The ACORN workers can be accused of being naive, amoral, trusting and stupid, but they counseled no one to commit a crime; that is, unless calling a prostitute a performance artist for tax purposes is a crime.
In which case all lobbyists are criminals.
Might I add that this is a case of journalists who are TOO EFFING LAZY TO EVEN READ A TRANSCRIPT jumping into the fray like sharks in a feeding frenzy. There is no evidence in any of the coverage of this event that any journalist ever read any of the transcripts. Your business deserves to die.
Well Doris then your democrats in Congress should be fully supportive of the republican call for a complete investigation into ACORN activities.
Afterall, as you have posted, they were trapped and didn’t do anything at all wrong in the five separate tapes. And all twelve states with investigations and some with charges against ACORN are of course all wrong.
But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt: Let congress do a complete and open investigation.
Nothing to hide?
” TOO EFFING LAZY TO EVEN READ A TRANSCRIPT”
Sorta like an American Congress which is too effing lazy to read the American Recovery Act of 2009, nor the 1,100 page House version of the Healthcare Act.
But they vote on the unknown – because Obama says it’s an “emergency”.
Is ACORN controversy overblown?
NO !!! This isn’t an isolated thing, there is fraud and abuse throughout the organization. Voter fraud and recommending people break the law.
LOL!
Backwards “B” mutilation boxlock20 insists that s/he knows the truth about the issue — and proves it with caps, bolding, and three “!” marks.
Doris seems to be in denial this morning. Such a painful state.
Why were the workers fired if they were set up?
Why is ACORNS only defense that it is illegal to record an audio tape without the consent of the participants?
Why did the democrat controlled house vote to take away their funding?
Seems Doris is the only one who ‘gets’ it.
Investigate it and get to the truth.
Those who refuse to believe facts will continue to avoid what doesn’t support their preconceived notions.
Let the rumors spread far and wide, along with some gossip.
ACORN was also in trouble with the IRS in back payments of 800,000 dollars.
Luckily for them, O’BAMA paid them for some campaign work to the tune of – 800,000 dollars.
But you do realize O’BAMA doesn’t even know who they really are! (cough)
What the Crats are worried about now is the conceivable tens of millions of dollars used to scam banks for illegal house loans to illegal aliens.
By using politically correct blackmail of backscratching, ACORN has found new untraceable campaign (cough) funds for politicians and Democratic Party insiders.
With 44 billion dollars in subprime loans avaiable, just what else has ACORN committed in the name of all that is unholy?
I suspect that there are some very well connected politicians and power players that are quaking in their boots praying that there is no investigation of ACORN.
If there was, it will look like someone unlocked the gates of H3LL.
Yes it is overblown. But it DOES tell us much about the cons. They will try to destroy anything or anyone that helps people.
For anyone who is really concerned about what polls tell you the entire NYT poll is out there to be read. It shows they still used the ‘46 million’ uninsured number Obama himself won’t use anymore.
It showed that 78% of respondents were satisfied with their current coverage.
27% think the reform would make their healthcare worse while only 19% thought it would be better.
37% think it would make it harder to see a doctor while only 14% thought it would be better.
51% would favor tort reform while only 11% would be against it.
65% think that any legislation passed on healthcare should be a combined effort of the dems and repubs. Only 23% think the dems should pass it without the repubs.
Anyone interested in viewing the entire poll can do so on the link below. What struck me was the number of uninformed that were answering the questions. This is evidence in most of their answers. So when they say 65% want a ‘government option’ this tells me these are uninformed respondents who think that might be a good idea.
Decide for yourself if this poll means anything.
http://documents.nytimes.com/new-york-times-cbs-news-poll-confusion-over-health-care-tepid-support-for-war#p=1
Wrong link. Moving it to open.
The workers were fired because they were acting like idiots. They shouldn’t have allowed themselves to be drawn into a B.S. session about prostitution; but even so they were only doing their job in the end, at least in the New York and Baltimore cases. It was obvious that no lender on earth would ever lend the posers money for housing so what was the harm? In the end, in those cases, the ACORN worker merely recommended that the posers attend an ACORN seminar for first time home buyers. The fee for that service was $150.
I believe those Baltimore workers are going to get a hefty paycheck. Remember the ABC lipstick cam expose of Food Lion that the Right was so upset about a few years ago? The initial award in that case was $35,000,000.
“It showed that 78% of respondents were satisfied with their current coverage. ”
That’s because half of them have government health care.
Nice catch Doris
This shameless attack by the cons on a community service organization ALSO shows us that cons are afraid and opposed to registering people to vote.
I guarantee you that if ACORN was a right wing org. the left would be on this like white on rice. But since it is a left wing group they can do no wrong and are victims of the “vast right wing conspiracy”
Uh “Freebird”?
There ARE no right wing leaning organizations that help people.
BlueJay: What are you talking about? Why do I spend my time helping serve youth without pay if it doesn’t help them? Why do I give hard earned dollars away if it doesn’t help people? I’m sure you’ve read in the past that conservatives out-give liberals when it comes to charity.
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=18253
They are counting their tithe to churches which does no more than build big churches.
So charity is the exclusive domain of the left?
Tell ya what, since the left is so charitable I challenge them to donate or participate in the Alheimers memory Walk coming up
BlueJay: you are counting ACORN which uses forced taxation for all taxpayers as charity. It is NOT charity if it is forced taxation.
Not all giving by conservatives is given to churches. Many support mission work which includes medical service, homeless shelters, schools here and abroad.
What ACORN does best:
One of every six subprime mortgages in Pennsylvania will fall into foreclosure by the end of 2009, Congress’ joint economic committee projects. The estimate covers a 28-month period from last September through December 2009, when an estimated 45,470 subprime mortgages, or about 16.6 percent of all outstanding subprime loans made statewide as of last June 30, will fall into foreclosure.
– ACORN has promoted laws like the Community Reinvestment Act, which laid the foundation for the house of cards built out of subprime loans. In early 1994, the Clinton administration floated plans for committing $1 trillion in loans to low- and moderate-income home-buyers, which would amount to about half of Fannie Mae’s business by the end of the decade. Deepak Bhargava, ACORN’s main lobbyist, stuck his fangs deeper into the coffers of the new federally mandated funds.
– In the end of course, Clinton’s plan cost taxpayers an almost unimaginable amount of money. And it was just around the time of his 1995 announcement that the Chicago papers started encouraging bad-credit customers with “dog-food” wages, little money in the bank, and even histories of bankruptcy to apply for home loans with the help of ACORN.
– ACORN is at the base of the whole mess. ACORN used CRA and Democratic sympathizers to entangle Fannie and Freddie and the entire financial system in a disastrous disregard of the most basic financial standards. And Barack Obama cut his teeth as an organizer and politician backing up ACORN’s economic madness every step of the way.
As “Regular” (the recipient of more Government largesse than anyone else on this forum) points out, cons ALSO do not like for poor people to be home owners. They are supposed to remain renters, remitting payment to con landlords.
Deb — WHO operates those medical services, homeless shelters, and schools here and abroad??
MANY run by churches… or church-related mission groups…
” Alheimers memory Walk coming up”
Yuk, yuk, yornk, yuk. Sorry I only point these out when they are funny like the one this morning on Topix. “Miner error.”

Silence from the left is deafening
Doris,
Sorry for the typo didnt know it was being graded, making fun of a terrible disease, now that is compassion.
Watsa matter BlueJay unable to come up with any facts at all?
Instead you pull fiction straight out of you backside. Either that or you post attacks on other bloggers because of your lock-step mentality with the leftist enablers of a corrupt organization like ACORN.
Well I have to say that I was disappointed in the ACORN videos in Baltimore. I thought for sure they would get on camera the C.I.A. agent (who must have been off screen) holding the gun to the ACORN workers and forcing them to make these statements to the pimp and prostitute.
I mean isn’t that the excuse used by the left whenever someone, especially black people on the left do something wrong?
As in during the 80’s, the C.I.A. was running around with their guns out FORCING black people to smoke crack. The way it sounded to me, it had to be that there was a CIA agent everywhere and everytime any black person ever smoked crack.
And let’s not forget all of the C.I.A. agents forcing black men to have unprotected sex and getting the HIV.
How about we get rid of all these CIA agents, maybe the guvment budget would be less.
How is it again dems?
If a black person does something wrong, it’s the CIA’s fault.
If someone on the left does something wrong, it the vast right wing conspiracy.
Is that about it?
“They are counting their tithe to churches which does no more than build big churches.”–BlueJay
And the slug BlueJay wants it instead. The lazy thief.
Some of the left posters here are very charitable as long as it’s with other peoples money
Sorry for the typo didnt know it was being graded, making fun of a terrible disease, now that is compassion.
I can’t help it if you are a stupid S.O.B. either
And the stupid DimLibs on this blog try to condone behavior like this…..typical of brain dead dimlibs:
“Allegations of fraud have dogged ACORN for years, sometimes resulting in convictions. Florida authorities recently arrested 11 ACORN workers and charged them with submitting fake voter-registration papers. The videos, which were made by self-described conservative activists, show ACORN employees exhibiting disdain for the law. The videos certainly show the difference in intelligence between ‘conservative activists’ and ‘dimlib ACORN activists’…..ha ha ha.
Doris,
I have never said this to anyone, but I sincerely hope someone you love is afflicted with Alzheimers.
“So charity is the exclusive domain of the left?”
NO! Charity is almost the exclusive domain of the right! At minimum, it’s been proven the right gives more. I read that here all the time. Why, there it is at 9:24, Deb gives you the stats, and brags about all s/he gives and does! Wait a few and several bloggers will be happy to brag about what they do, what they give. Keep score on who brags and what political leaning they represent, because if one side doesn’t brag that would be proof positive they’ve never given a damn thing!
You must first understand that a differing political persuasion is what defines whether a person is evil or not. It’s obviously what makes or breaks a person and makes them inferior or superior in every way!
Got that? Go spread it far and wide. Start by noting that it’s about time I faced facts and came to the truth of my own inferiority. You can be the first to tell me how stupid I am, or choose your own insult and begin the contest of who can come up with a more insulting line.
We wouldn’t want to start with the premise that people are equal, all deserve to be treated with dignity, and each of us could potentially learn from the other. That might allow adult conversations to take place.
Doris,
I apologize for that last post,I realized I was sinking to your level and I refuse to do that,so let loose with all your hate, people will see you for what you are.
“They are counting their tithe to churches which does no more than build big churches.”–BlueJay
BJ I challenge you to go to Catholic Charities, The Lords Diner or His Helping Hands and make this absurd statement.
Your lack of knowledge knows no bounds. The right outgives the left and there is evidence to support that statement. Support your statement with something other than hotair.

This is response to “It showed that 78% of respondents were satisfied with their current coverage.”

Doris makes up a lie out of hot air because there is nothing about this 78% being on gov healthcare but the faux preacher chimes in with ‘nice catch’. The dims never cease to amaze me. No wonder they are so confused.
ACORN is way overblown.
Glenn Beck, MAXIMUM LEADER of the repubs, need soemthing to grasp upon as their party spirals into oblivion.
Let the death throes continue.
“Deb gives you the stats, and brags about all s/he gives and does! ”
Yeah I was gonna call that out too.
I call it checkbook or “look at me!” charity. But I won’t demean it beyond that. We have to be grateful for whatever good the cons are willing to do and not be focused on why they do it.
And we got to see the ugly filling inside such folks at 10:01. Quickly glossed over of course.
Linda while you are over her mixing with the common people who is running your bland blog?
Stats have been published ad nauseum proving that the right does indeed do more charitable giving. Deb was 100% right.
You are the mistress of misdirection. Proving nothing but how ill informed you actually are. I would challenge you to actually read something informative and then come back and post with those who are informed on issues. Who know when a bill comes out of committee. Who are aware that existing bills can be bills before the prez signs them.
But I really don’t expect this from the left. It would require opening their closed minds.
Don’t apologize ‘Freebird”, you didn’t show us anything we didn’t already know was there.

You’re right. I SHOULD correct that.
“They are counting their tithe to churches which does LITTLE more than build big churches.
There’s not a single one of you Righties who’d give 20 bucks in gas money to a man in a parking lot who needs to get home. You wouldn’t be able to deduct it. Nor would any one of you give a ride to a hitchhiker in a snowstorm. There’s a difference between plunking money into a plate for the church building fund and charity. One’s a deduction; the other is a form of empathy, an emotion you have proven so many times and in so many ways to be incapable of that any claim you have to charity is laughable.
I STILL want an investigation of these “journalists”.
Who was funding them? How many ACORN offices did they visit to come back with 4 half stories and one embarrassing self humiliation?
BJ I won’t spend a beautiful Saturday morning with the dimwits such as you and Linda who break their arms patting themselves on the back while putting down real charitable work – well you guys are out of your league.
Go back and blog among yourselves. I have noticed since you have left – sometimes anyhow – the discussions have come up a few notches. So don’t let anyone keep you from leaving again. Run, run, run.
——————
Free you are so right in what you post and like you I sometimes am goaded into saying something that isn’t keeping with the way I want to address others.
Keep up the good work. We will win in the end but you have read the book and know the end of this story.
Ok,
progress not perfection
Even the “reporters” and their wrangler Breitbart knew they didn’t have much of a story. That is why he advised them to bleed it out slowly, one case at a time first with full coverage on Sean Hannity’s radio show and then in the evening on his TV show. They painted their whitewash over four or five days of full con sponsored coverage.

======================
Actually, I’ve done all of those and more.
However, with that said, when the same person keeps running out of gas and shows up in the same spot with a different story, so they can borrow 10 to 20 bucks, then I know they are scamming for their drug habit.

I agree that the ACORN employees were so non-professional that they should have been fired, but in their defense I would imagine half of their job is humoring nut cases. The undercover reporters were careful in their selection of scenarios to gain the maximum white bread reaction, but how DO you suppose prostitutes pay their taxes and qualify for bank loans? The posers weren’t getting advice any different than they would in any accountant’s office.
Remember what the ultimate advice was in these cases: Attend the housing seminar.
I’m not going anywhere okie until you and people like you are an unpleasant memory.
“Who was funding them? How many ACORN offices did they visit to come back with 4 half stories and one embarrassing self humiliation?”–BlueJay
As if that made one iota of difference.
ACORN is still a crooked law breaking organization and needs to be ‘put-down’.
Regular, you once wrote on this blog in response to the “hitchhiker” query, “why whould I risk my life?” Everyone here has your number. Why do you even try?
It will be interesting to see just exactly what is revealed when the law suits get into an open courtroom
In one of the five cases, the ACORN employee picked up on the “sting” and engaged in some outrageous theater with the young “journalist” even telling them how she had murdered her husband!
Who was of course still very much alive.
But Hannity did not go back and report that.
Now bawks haven’t you LEARNED to be wary of latching onto stories from Sean Hannity?
Remember how Hannity reported on the “McCain supporter MUTILATED by Obama supporter!” hoax and you ran with that?
Remember how humiliated you were? Sean Hannity never apologized for THAT one either.
I don’t have a problem with investigating ACORN.
Ask ‘em the tough questions:
Has ACORN ever lynched a census worker?
Have ACORN volunteers ever shot a doctor in the face?
Have ACORN workers bombed medical clinics?
Have ACORN workers hired hookers to dress them up in a diaper and spank ‘em?
Has a leader of ACORN been indicted for money-laundering before appearing on Dancing with the Stars?
Has an ACORN worker been caught boinking the help (his best friend’s wife) then asked Mom & Dad to shell out a hundred grand in hush money?
Overblown? They caused the collapse of the financial and housing industry with that 53 mil. over 15 yrs!

Not ONE of those individuals gets any CASH…
And that is as it should be… It avoids the situation you posed… which, unfortunately happens all too often…
We always tell people “Send those needy persons to the appropriate place, if they want help… Do NOT give them CASH.”

Phantom, have you checked all your email addys?
Amazing how many of duh Libs support moral intepretitude and corruption.
Why are the Libs afraid of an investigation?
Afraid something might be found out?
I think they are, they are very afraid they will be exposed as the fifth column of American Democracy.
The downfall of the American Way of Life.
Into the pit of H3ll they go.
“Why are the Libs afraid of an investigation?”
Is there ONE post here that speaks against investigation?
I see several welcoming investigation.
But it must be honest investigation, not a con sponsored witch hunt like the two reporters were paid to go on.
Then you have no objections BlueJay to ACORN members being subpoened to Congress being asked questions by Republican and Democrats?
Or a Justice Department investigation with an independed prosecurator?
Or each state’s Attorney General starting an investigation into ACORN?
You have no objections, so let’s get started.
prosecurator = prosecutor
although prosecurator sounds more interesting
I’d also like an investigation into who was behind the young “reporters” and just how many ACORN offices they visited. Travel costs money. Who fronted it?
While we are investigating, I think it is long past time for a random investigation of churches to determine whether or not they are in compliance with their status as non-profit, non political organizations. Start right here in Wichita with Spirit One church.
The topic is ACORN junior, not your petty differences with everything that you happen not to agree with. Is diversion all you know.
BTW, Wichita schools have no record of your National Merit finalist scores. It appears you were a very substandard student.
ACORN should be investigated, and, if they broke the law, be punished for it. By the same token, if the ones who took the videos broke state laws, they should be punished for it. Two wrongs hardly make one right.

What ACORN does best:
That’s a major crock coming from a minor moron. His assertion that it’s ACORN’s fault doesn’t hold water. The housing sub prime problem he’s pointing to accounts for only 3% of the losses. The rest is mainly through derivatives, and mainly CDS’s; all created by financial institutions and Wall Street.
The CEOs and CFOs of those institutions are the ones that need to be on trial for ripping off the American people, but the cons would howl with indignity if that ever happened. So they pontificate about their personal hatred of anything that helps the poor, and whine about ACORN.
But let’s look at the fact the cons want to go after ACORN for breaking the law. By the same token, if the Bush administration broke the law, they should be brought up on charges. Or is it “breaking the law” only if the other side does it? Your own Bill O’Rielly seems to think it’s okay to violate the law as long as their doing so to ‘get’ a Liberal organization. Selective law enforcement: anarchy by any other name.
Friday’s Senate Finance Committee debate on requiring insurance companies to cover maternity care perfectly shows what worldview we Senate Democrats are fighting against:
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said: “I don’t need maternity care.”
Go figure…. Not many MEN need maternity care… unless they’re just weird….
CON Speak for MEN against maternity care… “If I dont need it, then women dont need it.”
LOL Only in CON world….

I have had entire youth groups take the Annual Summer Trips, to go to Louisiana to clean up after Katrina… and go on home building missions with Habitat… and go into inner cities to serve lunches to inner city kids… when there is no school, and no school lunches…
These are from LIBERAL congregations… Reg, you ever hear of Red Bird Mission?? Has YOUR church ever had representatives from Habitat speak in your congregation?? Do YOU go volunteer at Lord’s Diner (they are always looking for volunteer servers)…
I had a congregation in New Mexico where church volunteers TWICE a month, went to work in a soup kitchen… NOT just serving… They FIXED the entire meal that was served… It was a full 8 hour day from start to finish…. And it was a TEN hour day when we had to be there to serve coffee and donuts when the health nurse was doing check-ups BEFORE lunch time… Usually served between 300-500 people… This was a DAILY happening… divided up between churches, and other non-profit groups in the Valley…. DAILY!!!
Oh yea, we gave out clothing to those who needed something besides RAGS to wear…
And ya know… I dont recall EVER seeing one of those needy folks chatting away on Cell Phones… like I have observed numerous times outside of Lord’s Diner…
“In one of the five cases, the ACORN employee picked up on the “sting” and engaged in some outrageous theater with the young “journalist” even telling them how she had murdered her husband!”
Yes, she did pick up on the sting. She even accused them of putting her on. But she was also mentally ill. It’s pretty obvious something is wrong with her.
Can’t wait for the who’s who in America list to come out.

Here’s a link for you Walker.

As usual reg can’t find the proof he needs to back up his wild assertions, so he posts garbage produced by some right wing tinhat outfit called “Proudconservative.com”. Hardly reputable.
So I ask again: And you know this for a “fact”? You have proof of that statement? Links (reputable ones)? Statements from reputable sources? Statistics? Back it up, boy.
My my my….just look how the libs squirm when the light of truth hits them and their crooked pet organization.
Just too funny for words. But so predictable.
Even Hannity is starting to slip into referring to the Giles woman as “the hooker”.
And she IS a wh@r3. She just isn’t an honest one.

Oh I don’t know, box. It seems everyone here wants ACORN to be investigated. Your problem seems to be you don’t want the people who made the video investigated, even though they made have broken states laws. Selective enforcement of the law: anarchy.
Hey, regular, still out there? Got that proof yet? Got the huevos to even answer in an intelligent way?
You have proof of that statement?

What you Leftists won’t do is give up your vacation time and go work on some project building new houses or fixing up depleted areas or go feed the hungry. What you leftists won’t do is stand day after day in homeless shelters, providing food, clothing and shelter to the homeless.

diris.it is so sad you know so little………i give to the church, i pay peoples gas and electric bills and buy their groceries, i help support some elderly so they can survive, i give to numerous charities, etc. AND heck just 2 weeks ago i gave $40 to a lady to buy gas to get home………..WHAT do you do?…………..anything?
and i volunteer my time to work on projects and paint and………………..and just yesterday i took clothes to the salvation army ( no longer deductible)…………..and you?
“wichhick” rises above us all –
“…i give to the church, i pay peoples gas and electric bills and buy their groceries, i help support some elderly so they can survive, i give to numerous charities, etc. AND heck just 2 weeks ago i gave $40 to a lady to buy gas to get home”
And that damned media junkie Mother Teresa got all credit.
jed………..you are correct……mark it on your calendar………………BUT were you really helping?
Is someone keeping score?
We did determine that if a person doesn’t brag about what they give and what they do, it is proof positive they give nothing and do nothing, didn’t we?
How else would the pollsters get their info to show who gives more?
“wichick” continues –
“i volunteer my time to work on projects and paint and………………..and just yesterday i took clothes to the salvation army ( no longer deductible)”

How do you know that?
Because I said so.
Oh, ye, of little faith.
Just curious, but what’s with the man-crush Reg and Box have on Blue Jay? It’s a bit off-putting. Since Jay is a confirmed heterosexual, why are these boys chasing him around?
And why does KS/OK Grandma have such a thing for Linda? Inks posts and thirty seconds later, Grannie is there with her insults. I imagine that Grannie is hoping for a woman on woman one night stand. You know, hoping for a “kiss and make up.”
Well, I also know that Linda and her Hubby are happily married, so what up with the “I want to kiss a girl” stuff, Grannie?
Damn, you Cons are some really weird folks.
I got that beat.
I got that beat.
The other day a homeless guy saw me smoking and asked for a cigarette. But when I went to look in my car, I had not brought my cigarettes with me.
SO I apologized and offered him the one I was smoking. He accepted as it if I had presented him the crown jewels. He told me I was a Saint. I hope they aint gonna make me wear no robes.
Nah, “BlueJay” –
But that damned halo prevents you from sneaking up on people.

Still waiting. Prove me wrong.
WS what is it you have about me. You post about me all of the time. I am happily married.
As for Linda I haven’t answered her in a while but when she posts one of her really stupid posts then she deserves what she gets.
She is one of the least informed people I have ever came across and she tries to act as if she is a scholar on so many subjects.
That is until you actually ask her something concrete and she just runs off to her bland blog to complain about the treatment she gets here.
Guess you are the designated back watcher tonight.
Gregory Hall, a former employee of scandal-plagued ACORN, labeled the organization “the most corrupt group in the country” on Wednesday’s Fox and Friends on FNC. Hall placed the blame squarely on the national leaders of the left-wing group: “They’re the ones that are constantly giving the orders that say- make the money, no matter what- lie, steal, cheat- and I’ve got the witnesses to prove it”
Anchor Steve Doocy first asked the ACORN critic if he was surprised by the recently released undercover videos showing employees of the organization trying to abet underage prostitution, tax evasion, and other crimes. Hall answered, “No, I’m not surprised,” and explained that “there is not much good in ACORN anymore, as far as its mission, and definitely not through its executive board.”

Okie’s LATEST take on “I’m smart and you’re dumb!”
“Lady”? And I do put that in parentheses for a reason. You don’t seem to have matured much since the age of 9.
Well, except your body. I understand THAT is pretty aged up.
(Silly libs likes to pretend this is allll a con plot to undermine ACORN.Are they that ignorant?)
ACORN’s most serious violations have occurred in Florida, where an ACORN-operated political action committee, Floridians for All, is actively supporting a ballot initiative to raise the state minimum wage to $6.15 an hour (a higher wage than many ACORN employees receive). In St. Petersburg, ACORN submitted a false voter registration card for Charles Schuh. Schuh, a 68-year-old former Democratic mayor and city council member, was registered as a 30-year-old female Republican. While one may be tempted to write this off as simple sloppiness (a plausible thought, considering this is the same organization that failed to turn in thousands of voter registration cards on time, resulting in voters being denied the opportunity to participate in the primary), this is clearly another case of voter fraud. When Schuh asked to see his supposed registration card, he found that someone had signed his name but it “was certainly not [his] signature.” In addition, Schuh noticed his social security number had been altered.
Recent statements by former ACORN Miami-Dade field director Mac Stuart reveal that Schuh’s case is actually part of a larger organized effort to rig the outcome of Florida’s presidential election and minimum wage ballot initiative. Stuart claims that “there was a lot of fraud committed” at ACORN, including quality-control workers routinely removing registration cards for Republican voters. Stuart said that ACORN submitted thousands of invalid registration cards and failed to turn in boxes of registration cards for Republican voters. Stuart claims that “the voter registration project has been operating illegally since it started.” 2 In order to meet the quota for voter registration cards established by ACORN, Stuart and other Miami employees targeted Florida felons by setting up voter registration booths outside of the Miami police department and Dade County jail. These activities are all motivated by ACORN’s practice of paying for each voter registration card collected—a third degree felony under Florida law.
ACORN’s fraudulent activities were not limited to voter registration cards. ACORN employees routinely accepted signatures for the minimum wage ballot initiative from individuals who were not currently registered to vote—a requirement under Florida law. ACORN employees also backdated registration cards in order to gather these signatures. Statements from former employees reveal that few ACORN directors actually conducted a rigorous fraud check on the signatures gathered by their employees. Those who did found significant numbers of blatantly doctored signatures.
This pattern of voter registration fraud in Florida should come as no surprise to anyone with a cursory knowledge of ACORN’s actions around the country:
• In November 2003, election board officials in St. Louis, MO, finished their review of ACORN gathered election registration cards. ACORN submitted 5,379 cards in this city, of which only2,013 appeared to be valid. Of these, at least 1,000 are believed to be attempts to register voters illegally.
• In August 2004, election officials in Albuquerque, NM, discovered that an ACORN employee, Christina Gonzales, registered a 13-year-old boy to vote. This registration was only discovered by the boy’s mother when a voter card showed up in the mail. The card contained an incorrect social security number, a fabricated birthday, and only a partially correct address. ACORN’s actions led New Mexico State Representative Joe Thompson to state that they were “manufacturing voters” throughout New Mexico. Interestingly, while Gonzales was fired by ACORN, it was not for manufacturing voters, but rather for claiming credit for registration cards submitted by other employees.
• In Ohio, ACORN has been accused of several acts of voter fraud. In June, 74-year-old Arthur Creasap had a voter registration card submitted with a false birth date and a misspelled name. Franklin County Board of Election Supervisors Director Matthew Damschroder said the “blatantly false” forms were turned in by ACORN and Project Vote. In June, ACORN was forced to fire two employees after it was discovered that they turned in registration forms that were duplicates and contained false information. In Cuyahoga County, OH, ACORN submitted registration cards that had the highest percentage of errors, 15%. Most egregiously, an ACORN employee in Columbus has been indicted for forging signatures and falsifying voter registration cards.
• During a traffic stop in Minnesota, police found more than 300 voter registration cards in the car trunk of 19-year-old Joshua Reed, a former ACORN employee.6 The cards were weeks and even months old, despite the fact that the law requires they be submitted to the secretary of state within 10 days of being filled out and signed.
• In Pennsylvania, Reading’s Director of Elections received numerous calls from individuals registered by ACORN complaining that those taking down the voter information deliberately put inaccurate information on the form.
• Kym Cason admitted to registering three of her friends to vote 40 times to help her boyfriend, whom ACORN paid $2 for each voter he signed up. Cason admitted to forging signatures and filling out her friend’s information to the best of her knowledge.
• In 1998, a single mother of three in Arkansas was arrested for falsifying approximately 400 voter registration cards. Some of the addresses listed on these applications were traced to vacant lots, boarded-up buildings, abandoned buildings, and nonexistent house numbers. The woman was a contractor of Project Vote, a subsidiary of ACORN. (Project Vote was involved in the scandal that brought down Ron Carey, former president of the Teamsters. In 1996, Carey arranged for a $175,000 contribution to Project Vote in exchange for reciprocal contributions to his campaign for presidency of the Teamsters.)
http://www.epionline.org/studies/EPI_acorn_10-2004.pdf
On August 18, a former ACORN official in Las Vegas pleaded guilty to voter registration fraud. Nevada law prohibits paying canvassers for registering voters, but Christopher Edwards, former field director for ACORN, admitted to being involved in “a scheme to pay canvassers who were told they had to register at least 20 voters a day to keep their jobs and an additional $5 for getting 21 or more.” Edwards has agreed to testify against ACORN in return for a lighter sentence. This case raises several issues. In 2008, ACORN was frequently accused of voter fraud, but no one investigated the accusations very thoroughly. Now that ACORN employees are confirming that the allegations were at least partially true, it will be very interesting to see whether the Federal Government steps in and investigates.
Voter registration is NOT the same as Voter Fraud. Please keep your stories straight.
From the horses mouth itself: Former ACORN employees fighting for truth, transparency, and accountiblity within ACORN:
ACORN 8
Why We’re Fighting
ACORN is not living up to its original mission; and that is to give meaningful voice and empower low and moderate income members of society. ACORN has been corrupted from its original purpose by senior management and an organizational structure that exploits the low and moderate income membership ACORN was founded to serve.
Voter fraud, voter registration fraud, unpaid taxes, unfair labor practices, etc, while tantalizing are not the problem, but merely symptoms of ACORN’s corrupt leadership. The real problem with ACORN is its governance – and the lack of transparency and accountability of that leadership.
Like you, we’re activists. We’re dedicated to helping people like ourselves — people of limited means — get a better shake. That’s why we joined ACORN in the first place. That’s why we’re fighting now to make it an open organization with clean books, honest leadership and a willingness to grow through scrutiny and criticism.

Although she was indoctrinated into liberal thinking at a young age and has been a life-long Democrat, Anita MonCrief said in an interview that she now identifies with economic and social reforms that are championed by conservatives.
MonCrief is a former employee of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) and its Project Vote affiliate who offered testimony last year in Harrisburg, Pa. as part of an election law suit filed against the organization. MonCrief discussed Project Vote’s voter registration activities and ACORN’s relationship with the Obama presidential campaign as part of her testimony.
“I’ve always been an outsider in my party because I ask a lot of questions and I didn’t like some of the answers I’ve been getting,” she said. “The problem I have with Democrats is that they promise you the world but then they don’t deliver. I identify now with conservative ideas because the answer is not social welfare. The answer instead comes from being less dependent on the government and keeping families together.”
MonCrief now plans to drop her party registration as a Democrat but is not quite ready to embrace Republicans. Instead she is more inclined to be an independent, unaffiliated voter. However, MonCrief does see an opportunity for Republicans to connect better with African-American voters who actually share the party’s convictions on key issues. This can happen if Republicans adopt a better communications strategy, she added.
MonCrief also said she very supportive of the ACORN 8 whistleblower group that came together last year in response to an embezzlement scandal involving the national organization’s top officials. But she is not part of ACORN 8 and prefers to chart her own path.
“While we are fighting the same cause, my beliefs and viewpoints have changed and I have moved more to the right in my thinking,” MonCrief said. “I am an ex-liberal trying to find my way.”
By contrast, ACORN 8 members have said that they remain committed to ACORN’s stated mission and would prefer to reform the organization from within by calling for greater transparency and accountability.
“They’re working their way, and I’m working mine,” MonCrief said. “I’ve come to believe that social programs do not work and are actually quite destructive to the black family.”
Food stamp and housing assistance programs, for instance, do not provide people with an incentive to get married and to keep husbands and wives together, she said.

Yes it is overblown. But it DOES tell us much about the cons. They will try to destroy anything or anyone that helps people.
Just for the record: My original comment was in reference to BlueJay’s statement.
Suffice it to say that it looks like pretty much everyone here is doing something for others…and that is good news.
“Food stamp and housing assistance programs, for instance, do not provide people with an incentive…”
They do better than the “free” market.
‘Go after ACORN,’ judge says
A district judge who held another ACORN worker for trial Monday on election law violations urged prosecutors to go after the real culprit, the organization that employed him.
“Somebody has to go after ACORN,” Senior District Judge Richard H. Zoller said about the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
“It’s happening all over the country. All you have to do is turn on the television,” he said, referring to voter registration fraud charges brought recently against ACORN and its workers in Nevada.
“We will,” Allegheny County Detective Robert F. Keenan promised as he wrapped up his testimony.
A spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said following the hearing that the county’s investigation into members of ACORN and their activities during the 2008 campaign “remains open and active.”
“(T)here is quite a bit of activity aimed at determining if anyone else should be charged,” Zappala’s spokesman Mike Manko said.
Eric E. Jordan, 20, of North Braddock became the sixth person ordered to face trial in Allegheny County. He is charged with soliciting a voter registration and interfering with county voter registration officials by submitted applications for himself in order to meet his quota for registrations. A seventh defendant faces a preliminary hearing next month.
Zappala claims the ACORN canvassers engaged in voter registration fraud and a quota system for registrations, which is barred by state law.
Olga Salvatori, Jordan’s attorney, told the judge her client did not know a quota system was illegal. She said Jordan was told he had to bring in a set number of registrations each day or he would be fired.
“ACORN should be charged, not my client,” Salvatori said.
But, argued Assistant District Attorney Matthew Robinowitz: “By accepting a job with a quota, he violated the law.”
Salvatori argued that Jordan didn’t “interfere” with anyone because all he did was resubmit his own voter registration three times, changing his address or party affiliation.
ACORN officials repeatedly have denied the organization imposed a quota system on workers, although they have acknowledged they had “standards” canvassers were expected to maintain. They did not respond yesterday to requests for comment.
Salvatori said after the hearing it was unfair that her client and other workers were charged for such technical violations.
“I didn’t even know a quota was illegal until I looked it up,” she said. “They go into poor neighborhoods and sign these people up. They tell them they have to meet minimum standards. How would (the workers) know what the law is?”
Keenan testified that he questioned Jordan last spring about suspect voter registrations he filed. He said Jordan, who was in custody on unrelated charges, acknowledged during the interview that he had to get 10 to 12 registrations per day or he would be fired.
Jordan attended the hearing but did not testify.
County Elections Division Director Mark Wolosik testified that every time a voter registration application was submitted or resubmitted, county workers had to process the application and generate a voter card and other paperwork.

The government is investigating ACORN’s activities, though the scope of its activity is unknown. Voter registration fraud cases involving ACORN workers are pending. The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s inspector general has acknowledged an investigation is under way.
ACORN — short for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — started in 1970 in Arkansas to help the poor and today is a national, multimillion-dollar conglomerate. ACORN’s political action committee endorsed Obama for president, and his campaign paid an ACORN subsidiary $832,000 to help get out the vote.
Obama, himself a former community organizer, has long-standing ties to the group, which he represented in 1995 in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois over the “motor-voter” law.
The group’s Democratic leanings and political work have make it a target of Republicans, who led the drive last week to deny it any further federal funds.
California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, pressed Lewis to reveal more about the group’s operations.
“The bottom line is, there’s no transparency in ACORN,” said Issa, who also was on Fox.
“Here we have literally hundreds of organizations tied under the ACORN umbrella, and you can’t even find out what their incorporation is, whether they pay taxes, who makes what,” Issa said.
Lewis said she has made sure, since becoming chief executive last year, that affiliates have “firewalls” between them. “I’ve completely overhauled all of our finances, all of our controls,” she said.
She also said founder Wade Rathke was fired immediately after it was discovered his brother, Dale, stole nearly $1 million from the organization nine years ago. In fact, Wade Rathke learned of the embezzlement in 2000, told only a few people but failed to report the embezzlement to law enforcement. An anonymous donor compensated the group for the missing money.
A group of dissident members is seeking a federal investigation of ACORN for alleged criminal violations stemming from an embezzlement scandal that rocked the organization last year.
The splinter group, ACORN 8, released a 24-page document Wednesday that asks federal investigators to consider fraud, embezzlement and conspiracy charges, and criminal civil rights violations relating to the embezzlement of nearly $1 million from the nonprofit’s accounts and an alleged cover-up of the theft for almost a decade.
“Moreover, due to the admission that a felony has been committed, other federal offenses may have also been committed … ,” states the document signed by 14 members of ACORN 8, including recently expelled members of ACORN’s national board of directors.
The embezzlement and accusations of voter registration fraud in at least eight states, including Pennsylvania, have cost ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — the support of a benefactor that gave the activist group $7 million in the past decade.
The ACORN 8 complaint alleges violation of the civil rights of board members who sought to investigate the embezzlement and subsequently were removed from the board.

“ouch!” Democrats hush their own up!
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. has backed off his plan to investigate wrongdoing by the liberal activist group ACORN, saying “powers that be” put the kibosh on the idea.
Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, earlier bucked his party leaders by calling for hearings on accusations the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) has committed crimes ranging from voter fraud to a mob-style “protection” racket.
“The powers that be decided against it,” Mr. Conyers told The Washington Times.
The chairman declined to elaborate, shrugging off questions about who told him how to run his committee and give the Democrat-allied group a pass
Who told House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Michigan Democrat, to lay off the radical activist group ACORN?
The 23-term congressman, who has been enamored of the aggressively partisan group for years, gave a truly odd explanation last week when he reaffirmed a May 4 statement that a probe of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) “appears unwarranted at this time.”
“The powers that be decided against it,” he said Wednesday, refusing to elaborate. His spokesman Jonathan Godfrey later said Mr. Conyers was referring to himself as “the powers that be.” Unless you believe that “the powers that be” is a novel variation of the editorial “we,” it’s clear Mr. Conyers wasn’t referring to himself and that somebody “got” to him.
Judiciary Committee member Steve King, Iowa Republican, doesn’t believe Mr. Godfrey. “Who are the powers that be?” he asked Friday. “Speaker Pelosi or President Obama, who has been both an employee and employer of ACORN?”

ACORN 8 – Public Statement
We the members of the national board of the ACORN 8 formally demand an immediate suspension of all federal, state and local funding of ACORN until after an independent audit and Congressional hearings on ACORN and its related entities. And that all members BOYCOTT ACORN and immediately cease paying their dues until after a forensic examination of ACORN and its related entities.
The ACORN 8 is an organization of ACORN leaders; current and former board members who are struggling to reform the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now following the discovery of a multi-million dollar embezzlement.
Who We Are –
We are members and leaders in ACORN. The A8 consists of national, state and local board members, presidents or chairs. As such, we are leaders in our communities and in within ACORN. We are typically loyal Democrats and we don’t understand why Democratic leaders have not rallied to help us.
Don’t Democrats care about poor people? Don’t Democrats care about right and wrong? But regardless of political party affiliation, we all share a passion for helping the underserved and disenfranchised through direct community action.
What We Believe –
ACORN is not living up to its original mission; and that is to give meaningful voice and empower low and moderate income members of society. ACORN has been corrupted from its original purpose by senior management and an organizational structure that exploits the low and moderate income membership ACORN was founded to serve.
Voter fraud, voter registration fraud, unpaid taxes, unfair labor practices, etc, while tantalizing are not the problem, but merely symptoms of ACORN’s corrupt leadership. The real problem with ACORN is its governance – and the lack of transparency and accountability of its leadership.
What We Are Not –
We are NOT trying to Destroy ACORN. We are ACORN, we love ACORN and are only attempting to reform the association and return it to its original mission and purpose.
We are NOT disgruntled ACORN employees or GOP / Republican operatives. Thus, we do not have a partisan axe to grind or a political agenda to support.
What We Want –
We demand an immediate suspension of all federal, state and local funding of ACORN until after an independent audit and Congressional hearings on ACORN and its related entities. And all members BOYCOTT ACORN until after a forensic examination of ACORN and its related entities.
Historically, ACRON dismisses most of its detractors by utilizing three basic arguments;
1) the attackers are GOP partisans and have a political agenda.
2) the attackers are disgruntled employees with an axe to grind
3) the attackers are disenchanted members and have no knowledge or information.
The ACORN 8 complaints are not so easily dismissed. As leaders and board members, we are loyal members, are knowledgeable and we have fiduciary duties and responsibilities to our membership.
We are ACORN. The national board is responsible for the organization. And we are trying to exercise our fiduciary duties and obligations to our membership. We have legal standing, to enforce our rights and pursue ACORN in courts of law and in the court of public opinion.
Why America Must Support the ACORN 8 –
The ACORN 8 is America’s last, best chance to empower low and moderate income members of society through Integrity in Community Organizing.
If you love ACORN and its original mission; you should support the ACORN 8. If you hate ACORN and its corrupt practices; you should support the ACORN 8. If you are an ACORN member and tired of being ignored; you should support the ACORN 8. If you are an ACORN employee and tired of being sacrificed for senior management; you should support the ACORN 8. If you are an ACORN donor and want to be sure you were not a victim of funder fraud and that your contributions are not being used for illegal political activities; you MUST support the ACORN 8. If you are a taxpayer and want to be sure your tax dollars are not funding a corrupt organization; you MUST support the ACORN

Well let me tell you though it won’t titillate you like what you’re looking for.
BlueJay is a rotten stench in society, only slightly worse than you I sometimes think, and that stench needs to be addressed….before it pervades further.
What I’m just lovin’ is that ACORN has been caught on tape being EXACTLY the sleazy stinking illegal organization it truly is.
And now no one can deny it, at least without looking equally bad.
Well come on and address me fossil.
Or wait. Either way, eventually I’ll run over you like a truck over a road apple.

Teachers unions have contributed over $1.3 million to ACORN

Teachers unions have contributed over $1.3 million to ACORN and its affiliates, since 2005, according to U.S. Labor Department financial disclosure forms.
But there is no guarantee that the $1,333,112 million in donations from the National Education Association (NEA) and Teachers AFL-CIO unions are actually being used for their stated purposes, according to present and former Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) officials.
Some of the larger donations include $100,000 from the NEA in 2008 and $200,000 in 2007 for political activities. The Teachers AFL-CIO Local Union 2 contributed $406,730 in 2008, $457,778 in 2007, and $346,300 in 2006

Recently a search at the Orleans Parish Assessor’s website indicated that three ACORN affiliates own 72 residential properties. The following affiliates own the 72 properties, Elysian Fields Corporation, ACORN Community Land Association of LA and AHC-NOLA1.LLC. This search only partially answered this question, Listing of all ACORN related real estate or leased property. ACORN has leases across the country and may own more property in Louisiana. The total number remains unknown.
WSClark has arrived with his childish attacks on people and posters – his 8th grade education is showing.

Regular links the Community Re-Investment Act to the housing melt-down.
One wonders how his sister managed to qualify for a mortgage working for minimum wage at QT, but I digress.
Remember Occam’s New Corollary: if Regular makes a statement of fact, it is invariable wrong.
Here’s what the socialist over at . . . uh . . . Business Week have to say about that right-wing lie:
http://www.businessweek.com/investing/insights/blog/archives/2008/09/community_reinv.html
Not surprisingly given the higher degree of supervision, loans made under the CRA program were made in a more responsible way than other subprime loans. CRA loans carried lower rates than other subprime loans and were less likely to end up securitized into the mortgage-backed securities that have caused so many losses, according to a recent study by the law firm Traiger & Hinckley (PDF file here).
Finally, keep in mind that the Bush administration has been weakening CRA enforcement and the law’s reach since the day it took office. The CRA was at its strongest in the 1990s, under the Clinton administration, a period when subprime loans performed quite well. It was only after the Bush administration cut back on CRA enforcement that problems arose, a timing issue which should stop those blaming the law dead in their tracks. The Federal Reserve, too, did nothing but encourage the wild west of lending in recent years. It wasn’t until the middle of 2007 that the Fed decided it was time to crack down on abusive pratices in the subprime lending market. Oops.
Better targets for blame in government circles might be the 2000 law which ensured that credit default swaps would remain unregulated, the SEC’s puzzling 2004 decision to allow the largest brokerage firms to borrow upwards of 30 times their capital and that same agency’s failure to oversee those brokerage firms in subsequent years as many gorged on subprime debt. (Barry Ritholtz had an excellent and more comprehensive survey of how Washington contributed to the crisis in this week’s Barron’s.)
I’ll agree to a special prosecutor sicced on ACORN as long as the reich-wing agrees to the same for the murderers at Blackwater.
I see that the Capn is re-using the same old spin. That is, he has nothing but spin and to re-spin the old spin.
After the Capn hand-stroked what he thought I was posted wrongly, ends up coming to the same conclusion of what I originally posted.
That is, subprime lending, championed by ACORN is a major problem and should be investigated by Congress.
The Bush administration asked for more oversight since 2001 and yet got nowhere from Congress.
So the Capn has spun his spin, yet achieves nothing but more wasted blog space.
Encouraging sex slavery is of course no big deal to ACORN’s defenders. As long as they worship at the altar of the correct political party, see no evil.

What you Leftists won’t do is give up your vacation time and go work on some project building new houses or fixing up depleted areas or go feed the hungry. What you leftists won’t do is stand day after day in homeless shelters, providing food, clothing and shelter to the homeless.

Then he posts: So the Capn has spun his spin, yet achieves nothing but more wasted blog space.

Perhaps reg can grace us with supportive facts to back up his rant about “Leftist Libs” and how they ignore charity work. Seems we’ll have no problem believing he “achieves nothing but more wasted blog space.”
Come on, reg, hit us with facts. We can take it.
Oh, by the way, reg: you’re assessment about Capn’s conclusion is way off base. Your limited ability to understand the financial meltdown is showing through. Keep to being the troll-monkey, it suits you better.
That whole video of ACORN members talking about trading illegal sex slaves. Those were sarcastic comments taken out of context of the video, because Republicans we’re undercover looking for anything to smear them with.
The ACORN member thought it was a joke, so they treated it like a joke, and made outlandish comments and claims, only to later realize it was an undercover Republican smear campaign.
Barnie–
You are correct. Even the Fundy-CONs know this is true if they take the time to look at the evidence.
But Fundy-Cons have a bigger purpose: Lying for Jesus.
When you know the “truth,” it’s perfectly okay to lie to get people to believe the truth.
Thanks, Walker.
I think we’re seeing the root of Regular’s problem: lack of reading comprehension.
Mainstream buisness weeklies like Business Week and Barron’s are saying in no uncertain terms that The Community Re-Investment Act had noting to do with the financial bubble and meltdown. Hence, ACORN’s involvement in providing CRN loans–in itself a questionable assertion–had nothing to do with the meltdown.
Regular calls that “spin.”
Funny how the willing idiots blame the problems caused by reckless and mega-wealthy financiers at the feet of . . . get this . . . poor people.
It doesn’t even make good nonsense to think that poor people have this kind of financial clout.
But it serves the purposes of those Lying for Jesus.
“But Fundy-Cons have a bigger purpose: Lying for Jesus.”
It’s much more better to be: Lying for the Democratic Party.
Your God = Government
Religious Right God = God
Same difference to me. They are both interchangeable to justify your ends.
So, the BOTTOM LINE is:
There is no defense for Acorn.
The Community Re-Investment Act had noting to do with the financial bubble and meltdown.
A cigarette unused is harmless. Light it up and use cigarettes for years and you inflict harm.
The CRA was the gateway to big time trouble. As the gateway, it left the door wide open to abuse, fraud and scam of which bankers, investment firms and ACORN took full advantage.
As my dear old dad used to say, there are two ways to get to the top of a giant oak tree- climb like hell, or sit on an acorn and be patient.

No one denies some unacceptable conduct by a handful of ACORN employees (goaded on by these activists–they are not “journalists,” that’s self-evident), or that investigations are in order.
