Huckabee is early favorite of ‘values voters’

Huckabee 2008The 2012 presidential election is a long way off, but former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is the favorite so far among those attending the Values Voter Summit last weekend in Washington, D.C. Huckabee received 28 percent of the vote in the summit’s straw poll. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty each received about 12 percent of the vote, and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence received 11 percent.

Huckabee reminds me of lots of Baptist ministers I’ve know through the years. Honest and straight forward, always attentive and willing to offer advice if asked.

He must have done a lot of things right as he served as Arkansas’s Governor for 11 years, almot 6 consecutive terms.

It doesn’t hurt that the Huckster has his own TV show on the (cluster)Fox Noise Network.

And of course, News Corp doesn’t have a political agenda.

    Ha!

Rupert Murdoch plays you CONs like a harp.

I have values. I would never vote for Huckabee. We have enough trouble with pathological narcissism in the presidency without adding him to the mix.

Palin doesn’t seem to want to be second fiddle, but I also like the “Huck Palin” ticket.

When is the Moose-Dresser going to Shanghai to lecture Chinese business leaders?

Last I heard it was supposed to be strictly off-the-record but in his era of tiny TV cameras I bet we’ll get a glimpse.

    “Hiya, guys!

Your eyes are all squinty! Are the lights too bright for ya?

Anyway, I’m so happy to be in Red China with y’guys. Anyone know where I can get some good walrus chop suey in town? That was a crock pot favorite at the governor’s mansion, mostly because Willow makes it herself!

She even clubs her own baby walruses!

Y’know, business is a lot like life in Alaska. Sometimes the seasons of business seem cold and desolate, and then the sun comes out and it seems like the day with NEVER end! Y’know? You know. You betcha!”

A Republican state lawmaker from Yorba Linda has resigned after he was caught on tape bragging about having sex with a female lobbyist and another woman.

The assemblyman, Michael Duvall, 54, made the comments to another lawmaker during a break in a committee hearing at the Capitol over the summer, and they were caught on a microphone at his desk. The Los Angeles television station KCAL reported that the two women were both married and that one of them represented an energy business with interests before a committee where he was vice chairman.

According to the Los Angeles Times:

“So I am getting into spanking her,” Duvall told his colleague, Jeff Miller of Corona, while the two sat on the dais during a break at a hearing in Sacramento. They did not know the microphone was on. “Yeah, I like it. … She goes, ‘I know you like spanking me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s ’cause you’re such a bad girl.’”

    The New York Times:

Mr. Duvall, who is married and has two children, received a 100 percent rating from Capitol Resource Institute, a conservative advocacy group, for his votes on legislation considered pro-family during the 2007-8 legislative session.

Who else was at the Family Values Conference?

    Gary Bauer (alleged adulterer)
    Bill Bennett (gambling addict)
Bill O’Reilly (phone sex, sex harassment)

Now Capt it is a values conference.

That does not mean they have to have the same values as everyone else! So they value cheating, gambling and phone sex. Those are values too.

Huckabee is a phony preacher with little for Christian morals and ethics.

Dear illiterate morons (you know – right wingers):

This thread isn’t about Huckabee (not that it matters). It’s about the Values Voter Summit, and the results of their straw poll. If commenters want to discuss Republican “family values,” tough crap. No one here needs your permission to broaden the topic. Your attempts to restrict the conversation are because you’ve got nothing to offer (what a shock!).
