Has Brownback sewn up GOP as well as next job?

brownbackmugKansas Republicans let their party split ruin their chances to elect a governor in 2002 and 2006. Every few days bring another reason to think they’ve learned their lesson for 2010, also bringing Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., closer to his goal of becoming governor. His campaign committees include the biggest GOP names in the state. On Monday Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, a moderate Republican, endorsed the conservative Brownback, saying, “Sam will work diligently to promote job growth and high-quality education, the cornerstones of a vibrant Kansas economy.” And Thursday Brownback holds a public event with Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh, who recently scrapped his own gubernatorial bid, that has people speculating about a possible Brownback-Thornburgh ticket.

I believe Senator Brownback will do a great job as Governor. Hopefully, he will be fiscally conservative and keep the state in the black.

I doubt it, but maybe he’ll surprise me. My suspicion is that he will support the more irresponsible elements of the legislature in cutting taxes while the state is in the red. However, it is interesting. We have a legislature that truly has been less than responsible, and someone who was really as ideological conservative as Sam Brownback appears to be could be rather frightening. I am not sure, however, how much of Sam the ideologue is just product marketing, a marketing image he is now trying to shed (he actually originally ran for House of Representatives as a more moderate Republican, but he moved significantly to the right when he ran against Sharon Fearey [sp?] in the Senate primary campaign).

Brownback has historically been one of the worst sort of pandering hacks, but there is a caluculating brain in there.

My guess is that the moderates are scared to death. They are already taking it from the Speaker of the Ks House, who busted two mods off of the appropriations committee. You can bet there will be a ton of cons running on Sams coat tails for every mod seat in the House.

Sandy P is just afraid that they will come after her too.

Brownback has it in the bag, but if he nominates Thornburgh for his Lt. Gov, KS will have GOP governor for 8-16 years.

Yawn! If he is elected Governor it shows the futility of voters in Kansas having common sense.

Brownback is known for championing what Federal legislation?

Recently, No Gitmo prisoners blather in Leavenworth. Jobs could be created, no matter to him. He imagines Gitmo prisoners are more dangerous than ones in our prisons now. That is foolish.

Um, trying to think his grabbing the reins of a problem and fixing it.

He did support the liberal use of gun registrations being valid in other states. Not all states CC requirements are the same. That legislation was soundly defeated.

I’m sure he’s going to vote against any Health Care plan. Who wonders why Republicans with 6 years Majority in White House and Congress, Health Care problems weren’t addressed enough.

Brownback didn’t help to stop Wall Street fraud from happening. That should have been an incentive for a Senator go getter.

His use of the YES rubber stamp supporting Bush initiatives has lead this country to prosperity in 2009.

He can’t stand being a minority, de-powered in Congress. Turning tail from fixing his YES votes in the Senate to become Governor.

He’s afraid to discuss long term National Planning with President Obama. He has no answers except to deny, use the No rubber stamp now. He can’t be bipartisan at all.

The ace in the hole is that moderates can’t stand Brownback and would rather vote someone they’re comfortable with.

If only the dems would pull their head out and run anyone….

Rhonda Holman seems, “Dumbback” happy. I have looked at his Campaign. All his committee members are just changing jobs and still working together to block the peoples access to their Government. Roberts was Kansas Secretary of State. Now it is rumored that Thornburgh will run for the U.S. Senate. Just a thought. I am still running for Governor, Rhonda just refuses to be non-biased. She is pro-”DUMBBACK” and doesn’t want the people involved. That is why she keeps refusing to state there are other candidates for Governor on file. I am pretty sure Herbert West 3rd, is still an Uncontested Democratic Candidate for Kansas Governor, 2010. The next time I look in a mirror, I will ask him. Look for yourself, http : // www * herbertwest3rd * blogspot * cop / Click on my name above. It will direct you to my website that she cannot find.

Come on, are you trolling, or are you really that bad at spotting posters? Politico and Herbert have very little in common, and while Herb is….strange…I truly doubt he would post under multiple nics.

Politico is a proll, and I am pretty sure I know who he is (although if true, I am not sure why he recently posted under his last nic).

    How funny.

I don’t care about sock-puppets, really. I’m sure it happens a lot but I just take posters’ nyms at face value. I mean, I don’t even want to entertain the thought “ANTI” and “American_Way” are personae created from the same WE Blog contributor. Especially after that “honey hole” exchange of theirs.

I do want to make it clear, however, I am not now — nor have I ever been — a candidate for Governor of the great State of Kansas.

From what I can tell, Herbert West III is a somewhat famous (or perhaps more accurately, infamous) character in Miami County. His posts here are consistent with what the man has said in public.

Politico is a consistent proll from the coalition conservative wing of the Republican party. I am more than 90% certain that if he is a returning poster, he is the latest incarnation of Econ 101/Franklin/etc..

I would not be shocked if the individual who posted under the Politico handle in this thread was neither Herbert West III nor Politico.

If Herbert West III is really Politico, then he is the perpetuator of a gigantic and complex internet hoax that reaches far beyond this blog to Miami County and even state politics. I don’t think someone who routinely posts one sentence paragraph talking points or passes on the rantings of Michelle Malkin as profound wisdom would create a unique persona like Herbert West III. What would be the point? Not to mention, various Miami County officials apparently would also be in on the hoax. [FE]Maybe Politico and his hoaxing conspirators are also HP Lovecraft fanboys (Grandson of the Re-Animator indeed)[/FE].

If Herbert West III is really Politico, again, what is the point? Politico is a predictably pedestrian right wing proll almost precisely in the mold of Econ 101/Franklin etc. One who, tellingly, also shares that poster’s soft spot for Rainbows United. Why would someone as unique as Herbert West III impersonate a more pedestrian blog personality whose talking points can easily be found on Right Wing Talk Radio/faux news/World Nut Daily/Townhall/CNS (snort!)/etc.?

West and Politico are practically on different planets.
