One of Florida Sen. Mel Martinez’s (in photo) last acts before resigning his Senate post in August was voting among only nine Republicans for Justice Sonia Sotomayor, after giving a long floor speech defending her against GOP critics. The Cuban-American’s departure “could leave no Hispanic Republicans in the Senate and three in the House — compared to 21 Democrats in Congress — and a sense that the national GOP is at a major crossroads with the nation’s fastest-growing demographic group,” noted an Associated Press analysis. Especially after some Republicans’ harsh comments about illegal immigration, the party needs work on its outreach to Hispanics. “Republicans have to be able to get the Hispanic community to focus on issues where Republicans have the right solutions — and these are critical issues: the economy being No. 1,” said Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, R-Fla.

CONs have as many euphemisms for their racism as Eskimos have for snow.
As we saw when CONs got in a tizzy when an Hispanic had the audacity to speak to a congressional town hall meeting in his native tongue. Or immigration “reform” that holds employers of undocumented aliens blameless but wants to build walls and machine gun nests aimed at brown people. The hole amalgam of Birther-Kenyan-Circumcision-Other-ness rhetoric that spews from the wing-nuts.
At this rate, the Repubic Party will have to hold its next convention outdoors, the better to end the ceremonies with the traditional destruction of the cross of Jesus in a field of flames.
Now, if someone could just come up with a country-western arrangement of the Horst Wessel song.
I wonder how many of those three house Hispanics are Cuban Americans from Florida. I know one is, if all three are, things are more ominous for Republicans with this demographic than the opening thread suggests. Republicans generally have dominated among the Cuban American demographic because of their intense anti-communism.
cons don’t care about hispanics or people other than rich white guys.
Are you saying there are no rich black or latino’s?
Pretty racist comment.
Do Republicans really think that if they only reach out to Hispanics, that all will be forgotten?
Republicans have said some pretty nasty stuff about Hispanics and have yet to change their basic philosophy of how things are run – Old white men in charge and everyone else is to kiss their feet for the crumbs they drop off their double chin and triple beer bellies.
Even if Republicans pull this off, they still have problems with most women and the countless other minorities who have watched exactly who is fighting to keep what they have while denying the rest of Americans the same opportunities.
But, CONS won’t learn this lesson- they are too arrogant to think of themselves as being wrong.
After all, God is on THEIR side, isn’t he?

Sen. Mel Martinez is a con, your statement makes you look pretty stupid.
Liberals continue to promote racial labels for political reasons. Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, minorities… If they can continue to get them thinking them as part of a “disadvantaged” group, rather than discovering their potential as an individual, they can continue to control them.
Why do you want to keep people down? It makes no difference what race or sex you are for success.
You are what you make yourself.
Telling people they should be dependent on the government does not show them the American Dream.
JFK understood that why can’t the dims today see it?
Stop putting people in catagories and then telling them they need the government rather than themselves to do better.
That is so racisist!
“Liberals continue to promote racial labels for political reasons.”
“Stop putting people in catagories”
People don’t need liberals or anyone else to put them into categories or to apply a label.
They self-identify with their ethnic or social background, especially if it is a minority group.
Liberals didn’t develop the terms black, Hispanic, African or Native American – members of those respective groups came up with the terms.
Don’t believe me? Ask a member of a minority group how they identify themselves.
(I assume that Con/Republicans will disagree with me because they think that a liberal can’t be right about anything.)
We never say they aren’t ’smart’ enough or aren’t good enough. We say they’ve had an unfair lot handed to them by those who have strived to take everything away from them for a very long time…and we want to equalize the playing field. You know, you could have been born with talent enough to be a world class pianist, but if someone cut off your hands at age 10, chances are that aint gonna happen.
Oprah once did an expose on the conditions of inner city schools and the difference in education, opportunities, and obstacles…and that was eye opening. The girl who was head of her class in the inner city could not keep up with the education lessons in the burbs.
Actually there should be a new category:
The FWAMs. (Fat White Angry Males)
Pretty much sums up most CONs who participate in this forum. They’re the largest groaning minority group in America.
