A lengthy weekend article in the New York Times by David Barstow thoughtfully tells the story of the life, practice and violent death of George Tiller, and captures the passions and defiance on both sides of the abortion issue in Wichita. The cast of the article and online multimedia package is familiar to Wichitans, though not every detail will be. Barstow observes that “not a single Kansas politician of statewide prominence showed up” for Tiller’s June funeral and that some anti-abortion activists view Tiller with grudging respect. Mark Gietzen, chairman of the Kansas Coalition for Life, called Tiller “very smart” and a “great businessman” and “worthy adversary.”

The wife beater Gietzen must be happy, he hasn’t seen this much press directed towards him in a long time.
Does anyone else think that the reason Troy Newman has been spending so much time out of state is so he doesn’t get called as a witness at the Roeder hearing?
MP,
Newman is spending more time out of state because Roeder seems to have expected him to post bail. Sounds like a promise was made by Newman or Sullinger, and it would have had to be made before the shooting, and such a promise would be evidence of conspiracy to commit murder. Roeder, having now been hung out to dry by his fellow christians, seems just about ready to spill the beans all over Operation Rescue and whoever else was party to Dr. Tiller’s murder.
Somebody talked him into it, provided him with date and location, a gun and money for all those trips to town to case the joint. Somebody else, maybe a lot of somebodies, are likely to keep him company on his trip up the river.

Sounds epic. But I’m going to wait for the DVD.
Outie,
“Sounds epic. But I’m going to wait for the DVD.”
According to my writer friends, the screenplay is being written as we speak for George Clooney to play Dr. Tiller. The working title is “The Doctor and the Preachers.”
George Clooney as Dr. Tiller? Talk about your Hollywood glorification.
More like Steve Buscemi.

Give it a rest already.
The politcians took his money but they were not willing to stand by him in his time of death.
Sebilius should have come back. She had him at the Gov. mansion, she met with him many times, she called him friend and she took his money on a large scale. Why did she not stand by him?
The jury trial of Operation Rescue’s hit man will begin on Sept. 21st.
I’ve been beyond furious since this morning and I’ve had all day to think about it.
WHY does KANSAS not have a death penalty case against politically motivated crimes…even if they do not result in the death of another? Gietzen says that he has to admit this man in one day was able to stop what they had not been able to for 40 years. How many more ‘Martyrs’ are out there in line now waiting for their shot?
No, Abortion is legal, and because of terrorism, they have made it so scary to the providers and the women seeking abortion, that they cannot even get them. They have WON the battle, and they can’t win the war! Women’s lives depend upon safe and legal abortions! I am not willing to let this go on. These people who bomb and attack clinics, the workers, the women….they need to be put to death.
I want to start a coalition of those willing to pursue adding politically motivated crimes on the death penalty list in Kansas.
email me at o_serenity_now@yahoo.com. This won’t just be for abortion, but for Waco-ites too, unibomber types, but will include abortion terrorists.
Its time to start RICO’ing these punks.
polmom.how about teaching gun safety and responsibility in our schools…….you just can’t let it go on………you want the death penalty…….how very lib of you ……………i thought you always felt it was sombody else’s fault……….i guess you are being selective
PMom, hasn’t a federal investigation begun? It will be thorough.
I’ve had this argument with you repeatedly ignorahick. I’m fine with teaching gun safety, at the appropriate level. That doesn’t mean I propose handing a gun to a kid any more than I propose teaching safe sex by hands-on practicum.
A federal investigation doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. Shelly Shannon didn’t get the death penalty, and she absolutely should have. Just because you miss doesn’t mean the intent wasn’t there.
We need to stop this in its tracks.

So you support members of ELF being killed by the State for arson?
Ayers should also receive the death penalty, eh PM?
http://www.kansas.com/news/story/907672.html
The guy is nuts. He smells bad, and wasnt jailed for refusing to pay child support?? WHY? The guy is such a hypocrite. Psycho held his child’s well-being hostage because he couldn’t get his ex-wife back. God she is so lucky he didn’t kill her. I hope they’re going after Newman as an accessory. Along with Sullenger.
You know he should have been back then.
Yes, yes I do. Anyone willing to bomb or kill for political ideaology they should be put to death.
pol mom……you support the death penalty?…..as to the argument you said you could not agree to teaching gun safety with the program developed by the the NRA……………
Anyone willing to bomb or kill for political ideaology they should be put to death.

I can’t say that I necessarily disagree with you theoretically, but practically it maybe more complicated.
I watch part of the hearing today and noticed the number of court guards, if the killer asked why so many?
If I was a court guard I would have figured out how to imply that it was for his protection as some groups are wanting him silenced. Sing Birdie sing!
“Ayers should also receive the death penalty, eh PM?”
Q. What was Ayers convicted of?
A. Zip.
More anti-American rhetoric from the anti-American.
WSClark direct you dipschittery towards PM.
I think it would be just as complicated to prove as any other capital case.

Most definitely.
“More anti-American rhetoric from the anti-American.”
Fact.
To bad PM could not be as passionate for the babies as she is for the killing of Roeder.
She must be an unhappy indivdual to be so supportive of death.

Oh brother.

another case of what pregnancy can do to women. Why does this always seem to happen in Texas where they ignore mental illness and these things?
Pregnancy did what to her?
But, I can see what dear old Mom did to her kid. If only she had expressed her love and killed him before he was born?
Political_mama,
Evidently listening to the Devil is a bad idea.
You just can’t admit that some women should not give birth!
I wish people would take pregnancy related mental health seriously. Perhaps she could have gotten treatment, the baby would be alive, and she could get well and be a mom again.

No, but I can admit some women should not get knocked up.
Probably to stupid to realize what causes pregnancy.
Ok, yes, I’ll agree, but you can’t really undo it and its going to happen.
Not everyone knows going into it how bad it can get.
The devil made me do it isn’t a good legal defense. But at least it was the devil usually when some fruit loop kills their kid its cause they were listening to God
P-mom,
Let’s don’t get too antsy to kill Roeder until after he rats out those good christians who talked him into killing Dr. Tiller. He’s just beginning to realize he’s been hung out to dry by his former best friends who suddenly don’t know him anymore. You know, the ones who promised him on a stack of bibles that if anything went wrong, they’d bail him out and spirit him away!

So who would be the pregnant police to decide who get’s pregant and who does not? Should your mom have prevented from getting pregnant?
Just who would decide?
Pol,
“So who would be the pregnant police to decide who get’s pregant and who does not?”
My solution would be for everyone to be given some method of reversible sterilization immediatly upon adolescence, and they don’t get it reversed until they pass a tough, comprehensive 4yr course on everything involved in marriage, relationships, domestic finance and parenting, to be offered in all high schools, and have held a job for at least 2yrs. That may not solve all the problems, but it will cut them way down!
