Tiahrt-Glickman rematch?

glickman5Is Dan Glickman interested in running for Senate in 2010? “I suppose I’m genetically interested in it. I’ve always been interested in politics and public service,” he told Politico. But Glickman, a former Democratic member of Congress from Wichita and current chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America, said one problem is that he’s not a great fundraiser. “To run for Senate requires you to do nothing but raise huge quantities of money, and fundraising isn’t interesting or attractive to me,” he said. But the possibility of a rematch with Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard _ who defeated Glickman in 1994 and is running for Senate _ is intriguing. “Well, I guess it would be a very interesting revenge match, but I like Todd,” Glickman said.

He could start his campaign with an ad of Tiahrt running for term limits back in the contract on America days.

Is Glickman a Kansan? For that matter – is Tiahrt a Kansan any more?

Yeah at times I suspect they just use public office as a way to get out of the State.

Anybody who says “I like Todd Tiahrt” after what he and the reich-wing did to our country . . . “tons and tons of weapons of mass destruction” anyone? . . . isn’t a candidate I can really support.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — In a major victory for the White House, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.

Hours earlier, the House approved an identical resolution, 296-133.

Saddam Hussein told an FBI interviewer before he was hanged that he allowed the world to believe he had weapons of mass destruction because he was worried about appearing weak to Iran, according to declassified accounts of the interviews released yesterday. The former Iraqi president also denounced Osama bin Laden as “a zealot” and said he had no dealings with al-Qaeda.

So, fleettwood, we went to war against an enemy of alQuada based on a lie. A lie that our intel KNEW was a lie. By eliminating an enemy of alQuada we strengthened alQuada – which, of course, pleased our friends in the alQuada-allied House of Saud.

Being chairman of the secretive and oppressive MPAA should disqualify you for any elected office. Can you imagine the campaign ad?

“I run a closed organization that forcibly puts their stamp on every movie you see in major theater chains. I will not tell you our standards or why we are even necessary in 2009. I exist to put my stamp of approval on things. Therefore I should be a member of Congress!”

    Quite convincing actually.

Dan Glickman does not live in Kansas. Todd Tiahrt does live in Kansas.

As Dan Glickman said he “likes Todd”.

Is there going to be a democrat candidate?

Media Matters listed 24 House Republicans who lied about the cost of global warming, inaccurately citing a MIT study. No surprise Tiahrt made that list.

When he’s talking, you know he’s lying. Although in a letter to me he mentioned the cost was only $2,900, showing that he can’t keep his lies straight.

The MIT study showed the cost was under $300.

At least Glickman didn’t hang out with The Family’s C Street compound while he was in Congress.

    From http://kansasmeadowlark.com/2009/07/13/seiu-money-in-dan-glickman-future/

Last week the Wichita Eagle’s blog speculated about a Tiahrt-Glickman rematch in a senatorial bid in 2010.

The Eagle’s blog posting mentioned that former U.S. Congressman Dan Glickman from Wichita admitted he was not a great fundraiser. So where might Glickman get money to run for U.S. Senate in Kansas?

Today, Andy Stern, the head of the 2-million member SEIU union that spent perhaps as much as $60 million to help elect President Obama, tweeted about his lunch meeting:

SEIU_AndyStern: Interesting lunch with Dan Glickman about the future.

This tweet already was noted by both the Politico and The Hill as possibly meaning Glickman may be pursuing a run for U.S. Senate in 2010.

Besides providing a huge amount of money to help elect Barack Obama president, SEIU money has flowed into Kansas for a number of years to help Kansas Democrats.

Will SEIU’s political money flow again into Kansas to help Glickman run for the U.S. Senate?
