We thought it odd that Rep. Todd Tiahrt’s first TV ad for his Senate campaign credited the statement “Obama loses 2.19 million jobs” to “WordPress.com.” David Weigel of the Washington Independent also noticed it and wrote: “WordPress.com isn’t a news site. It’s the launch page for WordPress blogging software. And while it’s possible that some blog used the phrase ‘Obama loses 2.19 million jobs’ in the last month, a search for that phrase on WordPress blogs and via Google comes up empty. This sort of stuff is a bipartisan problem. . . . It’s not a huge deal, but it’s strange.”

Sorry, Tiahrt is not know for intellect. Its mostly luck that he got his congressional seat. Even more amazing that he might become a U.S. Senator. But don’t ask him to spell tomato or potato.
Perhaps Sarah Palin would agree to move to Kansas and run for U.S. Senator. If we ask nice?
Tiahrt heard about the series of tubes known as the internet from Ted Stevens. They called each other on soup cans connected by a string.
Tiahrt is infamous for his stupidity. Someone hands him talking points and he’ll rehash them without having a clue as to what he’s talking about. Bush should have picked him as VP to make himself look more intelligent.
Here’s the ad:

Tanker Todd pretending that he’s a fiscal conservative. I guess some yokels still believe that.
Perhaps David Weigel would like me to teach him how to use a search engine. I found several entries that matched Wordpress.com + 2.19 million jobs.
Of course, blogging independent reporters aren’t really that smart. :)
Most likely an error by a staffer on Tiahrt’s team who left out the first portion of the URL.
Nothing really to see here folks – move along now….
Funny, I used the same words on a news search and only turned up Weigel’s article. Perhaps you’re using some other search engine other than Google.

================
Nope, used Google search engine – found a reference to an EN.wordpress blog about Labor and statistics, a Christian Website and others reference the 2.19 lost jobs.
2.19 million…
Oh, if you just do the regular search engine then you can turn up anything. I put in 2.19 million jobs michael jackson snuggy and got results. So 2.19 million jobs were because Michael Jackson wore a snuggy?
That’s why anyone with common sense realized that Weigel was using the news search feature.
Or…use proper search parameters and operators like “*” and “+” etc. :)
Check out the caliber of the shotgun used.???????

No doubt your christian group was citing the same source as Tiahrt, or perhaps tiahrt himself. We saw how the repubs start a bogus statement then quote as a source someone that has picked up what they originally put out. It’s a con thing.
Tiahrt’s an Idiot.
What’s next, he’ll be quoting something written on weblog?
Translation: Tiahrt and his staff know that they won’t get the KU/KSU/WSU/ESU/PSU/FSU graduates’ votes. They’re the only ones who’ll care that he cited wordpress.com as a source for news. They’re more likely to vote for Rep. Moran because Rep. Moran is a traditional GOP candidate.
If you ask me, Tiahrt is telegraphing his political strategy with these kinds of television ads. It’s just another version of, say, nominating Sarah Palin in hopes it will drive the eggheads nuts. Like the rest of the GOP today, he’s running as a populist and saying to he11 with the old guard GOP. Let Rep. Moran have ‘em, Rep. Tiahrt is aiming for the conservative NASCAR vote.
If you ask me, this just further marks the transformation the GOP is currently going through nationwide: a retreat to the South and conservative Southern populism.
A staffer made a mistake. People do that…sort of like bho claiming there are 57 states. Mistakes happen…unless you happen to be perfect. Anyone maknig that claim here?
“maknig” = “making”
Is it at all possible the source was ‘WORLDPRESS.com” and one letter got missed?
No, the source was actually winterknight.wordpress.com. Tiahrt’s staff just left off the only attribution that matters.
crap.
winteryknight.wordpress.com, with a “y” on the end of winter.

Could be, but I doubt it.
I doubt it because I looked at the ad, which is overtly trying to link President Obama to the loss of 2.19 million jobs.
I think it’s more likely that Tiahrt’s staff knew it was more puffery than fact, and just fudged the attribution.
If the truth does not matter to you then any source is good enough if it supports your thoughts.
Point of order is that Tiahrt is not running against President Obama he is running against Moran.
Whether it is true or not does not matter and is just a sideshow to distract voters from the issues.
pedant…………wrong……i went to KSU and graduated from WSU……..but i will decide based on what they offer and what is in the best interest of kansas…….not what school i went to……and you?
Was it at KSU or WSU you learned to use ellipsis?
The GOP is losing the vote of the higher educated as it moved away from financial soundness and to the social issues as the driving force within the party. Conservative no longer means being conservative it mean ridged and ideological. Blind to the real world and the conditions on the ground, willing to sacrifice the country and the wealth for some ideological concept. To deny facts and information in favor of fairytales and disinformation that supports the ideology.
linda.i can’t find in dictionary……..PLZ help me
linda………so how will you decide who to vote for…….
pedant…..so how will you decide who to vote for
If it’s been printed it must be true.
