Svaty contender for ‘youngest’ title

svaty2Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., may need to update his biography, which still says he “was the youngest secretary of agriculture in Kansas history.” Josh Svaty, the Ellsworth state lawmaker chosen last week by Gov. Mark Parkinson and already on the job this week, will be 29 until November. Brownback was a 30-year-old Manhattan attorney when the Kansas Board of Agriculture named him ag secretary in September 1986. Then again, Svaty is “acting” secretary “until the full Senate can consider the nomination,” according to a release from Parkinson’s office.

    Did Svaty find time to serve in the military and go to Iraq with other young people his age?

    Does it really matter if Josh Svaty chose to serve in the military?

    If that is truly a “litmus test”, shouldn’t it be used for other politician mentioned in the article, Sam Brownback?

    Josh Svaty is an up and coming young progressive, keep your eye on him.

    He was at that time. So isn’t this accurate. Rhonda is searching hard for a topic this morning. Brownback should rush right out and change his bio because this new boy wonder might usurp this ‘title’. Don’t we have some real news to discuss?

    Mr. C: If Svaty didn’t serve in the military and Brownback didn’t serve in the military, what about Todd Tiahrt?

    I do know Senator Pat Roberts served in the U.S. Marines.
