Sotomayor opponents are out-gunned

APTOPIX Obama Supreme CourtA group of 26 conservative leaders of the gun-rights movement this week called upon the Senate not to confirm Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. But their opposition is unlikely to get much traction, as American Bar Association this week gave Sotomayor its highest rating, and the Fraternal Order of Police and other law-enforcement organizations reiterated their support for the nominee. Chuck Canterbury, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said of Sotomayor: “She is a model jurist: tough, fair-minded and mindful of the constitutional protections afforded to all U.S. citizens.”

A police union comes out in favor of Sotomayor.

    Shocker!

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito also got unanimous a “well-qualified” rating from the ABA before their Senate hearings.

Good point she’s at least as qualified as those two.

They have ‘conceal and carry’ in the U.S. Senate now?

Webb must be happy as as a lark.

That is a true statement, but not for the reasons brownlee cites. Still phoning it in.

Sotomayor doesn’t have the backing of terrorist supporter Randall Terry. This will change things drastically. When I say drastically I mean not at all.

Ha, which doesn’t ever coincide with what the ‘rank and file’ think. Nothing but a political sham endorsement.

Let’s see now, how many of her decisions have been overturned. She is a racist jurist and an activist judge, not one that decides the intent of the written law.

I think La Raza, just means Latino Pride. Don’t know if there’s anything really racist about that.

Is there anything racist about Irish Pride?

Let’s see, stoned… That would make about 95% of the time NOT overturned by SCOTUS!!

Pretty damned good, seems to me….

branie you got a computer google la raza aka the race, you show support for a illegal alien provider to business’s that are for the world order. This group of traitors to America is the front leaders of the illegal alien invasion of America. But of course you are one of the sheep that are helping get their vile vision of the end to America. Again la = the, raza = race. Great organization to be a member of right?

National Council of La Raza is a active civil rights organization that I get letters from … I also get letters from NAACP, ACLU, MALDEF, and many other civil rights groups.

La Raza … has been misconstrued as race .. it is not race … the correct interpretation is people … like we the people … it is inclusive of all as we are all people.

the only ones that interpret that as race are those who do not understand the dynamics of various interpretation of words…. Cardia is Greek for heart .. does that mean cardiologist only work on Greek hearts of the Greek people, of course not.

So, La Raza is not the race … it simply means we the people … its not that complicated…. those who imply it means race … just want it that way … also dictionaries give you the wrong interpretation on this word … imagine that.

    “Johnpadilla” –

The CONs of WE Blog won’t get that.

The best they can do with Spanish is to work their way though a Taco Bell drive-thru.

You’re dealing with people who think “embarazada” must mean “embarrassed.”

I recognize why you fell compelled to clarify the translation of “La Raza” to the ignorant. But they got ignorant by ignoring stugg… like facts.

As John Stewart Mill noted, “Not all conservatives are stupid, but all stupid people are conservatives.”

We have more than our share of CON ignorant/arrogance here on WE Blog.

It’s like one of those double-ticket horror rides at the amusement park.

“So, La Raza is not the race … it simply means we the people … its not that complicated…. those who imply it means race … just want it that way … also dictionaries give you the wrong interpretation on this word … imagine that.”

The Nazis used the phrase “das Volke,” which also means “the People,” but the context in which it was used made it plain that they were only talking about a specific group of people.

The meaning of some words can be described by either denotation or connotation, or sometimes both.

I suppose the term Volk” should be interpreted as people rather than race.

It does make sense to call the Volkswagen the people’s car, but…

    Not a race car…

Johnpedophelia- Cardia is Greek for heart .. does that mean cardiologist only work on Greek hearts of the Greek people, of course not.
    ————————————-

So “Cardia” is all inclusive. It means all organs as in “we the organs” liver, lungs, brain etc.
    Not just the heart.

Yeah, great example. You really proved your interpretive skills…

    HAHAHAHA!!!!!! nit.

  24. Posted July 9, 2009 at 10:52 am | Permalink
