Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has decided to resign. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over on July 26, according to the Anchorage Daily News. “Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional ‘lame duck’ status in this particular climate would just be another dose of ‘politics as usual,’ something I campaigned against and will always oppose,” Palin said at a news conference in Wasilla. “It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.”
What’s next? “I look forward to helping others — to fight for our state and our country, and campaign for those who believe in smaller government, free enterprise, strong national security, support for our troops and energy independence.”
If this is her way of building up her executive experience and reform record toward a 2012 presidential run, it’s a funny way to do it. “We’ve seen a lot of nutty behavior from governors and Republican leaders in the last three months, but this one is at the top of that,” GOP strategist John Weaver said. Then again, there is nothing conventional about Palin.

I presume that she is returning some or ALL of her salary.
Republicans are quitters apparently.
I guess she had to leave before the really nasty dirt got out on her.
Don’t let the door hitcha on the way out.
Going to be fun watching the Repuke royalty go in for the kill. Will also be interesting to see what further ethical/legal stuff is shaken loose once her in-state supporters realize there’s something to be had from turning on her.
Daffy Duck + Eva Peron = Sarah Palin.
However, CF2K absolutely does NOT understimate Sarah Palin’s capacity for self-reinvention and taste for demagogy and the backlash politics of Wingnut victimization. She’s got some of Huey Long’s skill for manipulation, but wedded to that faux-Right Wing populism in which the big guys refashion themselves as little guys.
She’ll never win the Presidency. But she could well end up the Presidential candidate of an aggrieved, Repuke backlash party.
The Republican Party of NO has officially become the Party of Quitters.
Sanford should be next.
Pantywaisted crybabies and whiners as witnessed here on the WEBlog.
satatom,
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Dear Wingnuts,
Where’d you go? C’mon and defend your gal! Or have Rush and Glen Dick not primed you with spin?
Maybe, if Alaska secedes, Ms. Sarah can run to be President of the Peoples’ Republic of Alaska.
/ sarcasm off
The commentators on the news are saying that she apparently doesn’t even understand what she has done.
Palin thinks that it will further her career when in fact it has ended it
What we always knew is true.
Palin is wack.
satatom,
Perhaps. But given that 20% of the electorate is wack as well, plenty of folks will see her resignation as the vindication of their aggrieved, resentful, backlash worldview. (cue Hank Price!)
Pray that the wack doesn’t rise above 20% of the electorate. Pray. Pray harder.
LUCY I’M HOME! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LUCY? You resigned as Governor of Alaska?
OH LUCY!!!
There are apparently rumors of an scandal brewing… If she is not governor, she can better hide from it…
This is as goofy as the Michael Jackson death story…
“Then again, there is nothing conventional about Palin.” — please. Don’t let ad copy go to your head.
It is amazing how terrified the libs are of Palin. They have no limits to the depths of their depravity in attacking her. As part of her resignation announcement, she said how she and her husband have close to half a million in personal legal fees spent to set the record straight and refute the low level, bottom feeding attacks.
At least she had more executive level government experience than the community organizer bho did.
Raptor,
And there we go! Finally, a Wingnut willing to suit up and show up.
Of course, Raptor, it’s a bit of a problem that the legal fees in question were incurred as a result of an investigation run by the Alaska Attorney General, long before Palin’s run for the Vice-Presidency.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Public_Safety_Commissioner_dismissal#Alaska_Attorney_General_.28internal_investigation.29
But we all understand that you have to read from the “those mean old elitist liberals sure victimized me!” script that Sarah Palin herself handed down at her “press conference.” And we also understand that, for Palin and her minions-like you, Raptor–facts never ought to get in the way of a good “I’m a victim of the liberal media!” narrative.
As for being “scared” of her, Raptor, I absolutely am: the thought of Sarah Palin in the Presidency of the United States is enough to make me want to move to a different planet.
And finally, as for “attacking” Sarah Palin, well, Raptor, if today proved anything, it’s that the “liberals” aren’t Sarah Palin’s worst enemy: that would be Sarah Palin herself.
I am more terrified of a president who acts like a dictator, taking over businesses, creating a skyrocketing deficit while trying to spend our way out of a recession. I am terrified of how the unemployment continues to rise regardless of the mythical ’saved jobs’ sound bites.
And I am terrified of a ‘health plan’ that will fine people $1,000 who don’t have health insurance. Now THAT makes a lot of sense (not).
Yes…there is a lot to be scared of, but it is not the soon to be former governor of Alaska. It is the tax/spend dictator in the White House.
Raptor,
Um, yes, we know: you’re terrified of any President who is actually elected by a majority.
But let’s DO focus on Sarah’s victimization at the hands of a mean, bad, “elite liberal media,” shan’t we? After all, that’s the story today, tomorrow, and every day for you poor, put upon, victims such as yourself, isn’t it Raptor?
Do you believe, Raptor, that Sarah Palin ought to have resigned the governorship of Alaska prior to finishing out her term? And do you believe that her situation was SO untenable that she was no longer able to govern?
She’s a quitter, plain and simple.
One thing about her word salad is that no one can definitely know what she said. So, as this unfolds she can claim to have said anything and everything. Plus, her supporters are willing to overlook a lot (as long as they have hope for a U.S. Christian theology, that Roe v Wade will be overturned and every American will be armed to the gills!), and will gladly make excuses for her.
I predict that when news gets out about this people will be lighting fireworks in celebration, even in Alaska where it’s quite pointless (24 hour daylight now dontcha know).
The going got tough, the grass looked a little greener in the private sector, and poof.
Sarah’s outta there.
She is absolutely a quitter and with her state in trouble it was going to be more and more difficult to keep up the facade of competence.
I’ll bet Mark Sanford was dicking her.
hehehehe
Run libs!
Libs?!
lol
Run Sarah!
She will run away from all these terrible problems she can’t face.
Palin is running away from the problems she has no idea how to handle, no ideas for solutions — just like the Republican Party of NO!
Hankie Poo,
Liberals may or may not be “runners,” whatever that is supposed to mean. But Sarah Palin leaves us no doubt: she’s a quitter.
Of course, since she’s YOUR quitter, all you dead-ender Wingnuts will continue to cling to her. But the sane 80% of America knows that what they’re seeing is, indeed, what they’re seeing: a narcissist whose grandiosity is inversely proportional to her competence.
And hopefully for prez come 2012.
Talk about the gift that never stops giving. This is like Christmas Eve in July.
July 3rd, day before Independence Day: Sarah Palin announces that she’s a quitter.
WOW! ALL THE SICKO SOCIALIST DEMOC-RATS ARE HERE
Feel the hate from duh Libs, it’s almost palpable in the air it’s so thick.
sad…an ideology based on hate
give it a break, “cf2″….I did not attack you, nor did I claim to be a victim. I expressed an opinion like an adult.
It is a shame you cannot do the same without resorting to childish insults and ridiculous speculation about what I do or do not believe.
SAY! WHERE IS THIER LEADER BJ
Let me repeat that.
The going got tough in Alaska, and what did Sarah do? On the day before Independence Day, she announced that she’s resigning.
Sarah Palin is a quitter.
Raptor,
If CF2K is a “liberal,” then your comments absolutely were directed at and were an attack on me; don’t be passive aggressive and pretend otherwise.
It’s indicative, isn’t it, that all the Wingnuts here are tut-tutting and trying to cry “foul,” rather than answering the question I just posed: was Sarah Palin’s resignation as Governor of Alaska prior to completing her first term justified, or not? That’s the question they want to avoid at all costs.
And I’ll go a step further: based on what is currently known, who else here thinks the wrong Republican governor resigned?
I’M SORRY SHE DID NOT CHECK WITH YOU FIRST. SHAME ON HER
Who’s the new Wingnut with the caps lock tic? Nothing to say and insists on SHOUTING.
To answer your question, I can honestly say something that is almost never seen here…I don’t know. I don’t know the facts behind it, I don’t know the motivation, and I don’t know her plans. Unlike so many people here, when I am missing salient facts, I don’t jump to conclusions.
Not having the information to be able to make an informed response is not the same as avoiding a question “at all costs”.
More bizarre behavior from Sarah Palin. Who would have guessed? She couldn’t handle the pressure of running a state. How’s she going to deal with the pressure of running a country?
At least she still has Hank’s support.
Birds of a feather….
“…based on what is currently known, who else here thinks the wrong Republican governor resigned?”
Based on what is currently known, I’d say they both need to go. Sanford is apparently having a mid-life crisis while governor of South Carolina.
Palin can’t even finish her first term. Based on what’s currently known — she’s a quitter — it’s a good thing for the state of Alaska that she’s outta there.
HAVE TO SHOUT TO GET OVER ALL THE B.S. YOU SOCIALIST PUT OUT. GET OVER IT.
I’ve been watching Fox News. Even the Repub pundits think Palin has screwed the pooch.

Raptor,
Fair enough. But that makes her explanations all the more implausible.
Dear Wingnut,
It’s “socialists.” In the English language, plural forms are expressed by adding an ’s’ to the end of a word.
HA HA HA TO YOU TOO.
All caps key behavior: the refuge of suds imbibers who can no longer coordinate the shift key on the keyboard. The pinkie doesn’t wanna play ball after ten or so Coors Lights.

Linda the hateful biddy has spoken. She is tarnishing the halo of ‘Saint Linda’. Wonder why she hates Palin and Christians so much. Wonder why she think that people want to overturn because they hate someone and not because they love the babies that are brutally murdered in the name of choice.
Hateful old woman. She takes womens lib back to the stone ages.
What is going on with the GOP these days?
The only viable national candidate they had from the North — Sarah Palin — implodes the day before Independence Day.
This leaves ‘em with running somebody from the South come 2012. I don’t think that’s going to help them, frankly.
It’s like the Democrats have herded ‘em into a circle, passed out rifles, and hollered “fire!”

Why so personal?
Maybe Palin wants out because she is just fed up with the liberal press using her family for fodder everyday.
The libs on here do that on a regular basis. Miss Saint Linda usually leads the pact. Like a bunch of wolfs who can’t get enough red meat.
Good for her and bad for the liberals who still can’t leave her alone.
News outlets are speculating that Palin is angling for a spot with Fox News.
I guess it would pay the bills. Problem is, it would also keep her in front of the firing squad.
Frankly, I think Fox will pass on hiring a quitter. Of course, they do have another crazy person or two working for ‘em, so who knows.
There is no mistaking that Sarah Palin just up and quit on the voters of Alaska, though. That kind of behavior is not exactly endearing to American voters.

So it’s a jealousy thing. Huh.
Palin will play the Hillary role in the next election if she chooses to run. She’ll be the lightning rod for attacks, allowing the other GOP candidates to slide through unnoticed for a while. Till then, she’ll pull a Gore and get rich on the public speaking tour. Or a Daschle and just become a lobbyist and get rich. Option 3, take Reagan’s advice:
“‘Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed, there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself, you can always write a book.’ – Ronald Reagan”

uh, I don’t think you’re paying attention. Sarah don’t play second fiddle, not in anybody’s orchestra.
I think Sarah takin’ a bullet for the GOP is about as likely as her sticking around to finish her first term.
Also, I don’t think Sarah will ever be Secretary of State.
Call me crazy, but I just don’t see that happening. Ever.
Saint Sarah, lol.
That’s hilarious.
Sarah quits as governor of Alaska on July 3, the day before Independence Day. On the first day of a holiday 3-day weekend to boot.
She doesn’t announce that she’s foregoing a second term, even though most news outlets were so incredulous of her up and quitting that they ran a “breaking news” headline of something like “Palin will annnounce she won’t run for a second term,” not “Palin is qutting.” I mean, who could believe she would do that.
You got that, her behavior in public, and the Purdum piece in VF. Even if you believe it’s just a political hatchet job, there’s more than enough there to give you pause when it comes to judging Sarah’s character.
And still some are ready to call her a saint. Incredible. Unbelievable naiveté.
And hilarious.
Hope it’s nothing health related.

You’re missing the point…no matter what she does between now & ‘12…the story ends the same…the Palin’s get rich.
As for “2nd fiddle”…who would’ve suggested Billary would’ve done so going into the ‘08 campaign? Teamwork’s & warm fuzzies haven’t exactly been her calling card. Did Billary provide lots of cover for Obama for about the first half of the primary? Did she intend to do that for the good of the party?? Gimme a break.
And I was never suggesting Palin would be Sec of State…although it’s about as silly as HillBilly being one now…my point was simple…the story ends with the Palins being rich.
How about “ROTTEN RIGHT-WING SOMNAMBULISTS!”

Only in your wildest dreams could you even be one TENTH the woman she is.
Your hatred of your fellow man disqualifies you as a representative of the human race.
You are sub-human, KS-OK Grannie – your hatred of anyone in a economic class that is below yours is disgusting and anti-American.

There ain’t nothin’ about money in those sentences.
Who cares if they’re rich? This story is about power, not wealth.
Isnt it kinda hard to run for office from jail?
I bet the same folks who send Dr. Tiller’s assassin cookies will be sending her loves notes in jail too.
Birds of a feather and all.
Maybe Willow really did get knocked up?
Oh, please. The lady used a friggin’ Yahoo account for state business. She was a walking scandal. She may be hoping to tamp down the flames this way, long enough at least to pursue her delusions of grandeur.
And she will probably have the 28 percenters backing her up.
I see the Palin haters are out in force, with their butch claws out.

Ksfrmgrrl–
Once again, you cut to the chase.
Palin’s husband claims he built a 3200 square foot house worth half a million dollars by himself with a couple of “buddies.”
Those buddies just happened to be major contractors who had scored a big local contract ramrodded by Gov. Helicopter Hunter.
Surprise, surprise, surprise.
Hey, Ted Stevens? Move over, dude.
Where is the Grannie – you know – with more hate and condescending attitude towards her fellow man?
I mean, really , does she HATE everyone that is in a lower economic class than her?
Oh, yeah, Grannie HATES everyone that doesn’t measure up to HER standards.

Get with the program. She up and quit.
The day before Independence Day. And on the first day of a long holiday weekend, with the next time the talkin’ heads meetin’ bein’ Sunday morning. That’ll be the next time open to her to explain this to most of America. Leaving the rest of us free to speculate while we’re standin’ around grillin’ and shootin’ the breeze. All day long tomorrow. On Independence Day. Is she crazy? Pregnant? Why did she quit anyway? She’s a quitter. No she’s not! Son, she up and quit her dang job, that by definition makes her a quitter… Etc. You can imagine.
Pointin’ that out don’t make nobody a hater. By anybody’s standard it makes Palin an idiot, but hate ain’t got nothing to do with it.
JimMax complains of haters–
“Liberals love terrorists more than their American neighbors.” “Liberals want American soldiers in Iraq to die.” “Liberals want to let terrorists out of Gitmo and invite them to live in their spare bedroom.”
****
Thanks for picking out the liberal speck of dust while ignoring the CON’s Mt. Everest.
I’m thinking Murdoch got to Sarah, if not literally, then at least figuratively. Sarah has a short shelf life, so she’d better cash in while she can.
Maybe Willow really did get knocked up?
hehehe, yeah.
That’d be hard to explain, wouldn’t it.
One fornicating daughter’s pregnancy represents a “committment to life.”
Two represents a family of little sludts.
Maybe she wanted to spend some actual time with trig?
Well, all the pointy heads have had their speculation about why Sarah Pail resigned. You’re all probably wrong.

Actually no, I don’t support Palin for 2012. God help us if she is the lesser of two evils.
Though I don’t support her for POTUS, I feel no need to attack her or speculate on the unknown reason ‘why’.
1. I really don’t care.
2. The reason(s) will come out eventually, and I can wait for that to happen. My life doesn’t revolve around Palin. I feel no urgent need to debate the ‘what ifs’ and I can easily sleep tonight and for the next 10,000 nights without knowing the answer.
3. I’m wondering why all you oppose Palin give a crap. Unless you simply like piling-on, which obviously some of you like to do. You’re so full of hate, it’s really sad and somewhat humorous to watch.

She called a news conference with an hour warning on a Friday before a national holiday in Alaska.
If there is a way to TRY and bury a story deeper, I don’t know what it is.
Oh she’s running alright.
Away.
The cons are mostly shocked or thinking wishfully. What I’M waiting and expect to see is SOME of her supporters expressing a feeling of betrayal and abandonment.
You don’t want her to run away?
Hey Eagle editors?
I TOLD you you needed a dedicated thread about the yesterday released Palin emails.
“You don’t want her to run away?”
HE11 NO! I wanted her to run for President. I HOPE she still will.
But I’ve the feeling the party got whiff of something coming.
Palin is not well spoken. But that press conference looked like panic. Which leads me to wonder, did she fall or was she pushed?
Please, please, please. Some quiet respect here, please. Democrats owe Mrs. Palin a debt of gratitude.
“We’ve seen a lot of nutty behavior from governors and Republican leaders in the last three months, but this one is at the top of that,” GOP strategist John Weaver said.”
Gotta agree and I said so when the story broke.
But I’M not a Republican strategist.
The LONG knives are out. Gotta be a reason for that.
lol
Something tells me this is going to be something less than a pleasant Independence Day for Sarah Palin.
And her family. And her supporters.
The unassailable fact is that Sarah Palin quit her job today. By all accounts — except hers — this was unanticapated. Out of the blue. Her main spokeswoman was in NYC, it was so sudden. Perhaps approaching extemporaneous is more descriptive of her decision to hold a press conference this afternoon, according to some.
Very curious indeed. I don’t think this was in the cards at all. Something happened very recently, perhaps today, and boom she’d had enough.
Why?
Peccant – sorry, I won’t use big words like “rich”, so you won’t have to struggle with their meaning next time…

I don’t know about Sanford per se, but I would not be surprised if the RNC were behind this.
At least friends of Steve Schmidt. If half the stuff in the Purdum article in Vanity Fair were true, then a rational GOP puts Palin down (politically, of course).
Thing is, this is going to be in the headlines through Monday, maybe longer. It’s going to grow like a hurricane until then, too. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Senator Larry Craig, Republican of Idaho gets caught soliciting anonymous sex in an airport bathroom.
HE didn’t quit. I imagine he has the Senate restroom mostly to himself.
Republican Governor Mark Sanford bangs his cyberspace, married with children Argentinian lover on Father’s day, waxes romantic about who he cheated with, admits MORE cheating on his wife and doesn’t quit.
But Sarah Palin quits her job in late afternoon on the third of July?
We got the ending. What we need is the plot.

I see the Palin haters are out in force, with their butch claws out.
Actually no, I don’t support Palin for 2012. God help us if she is the lesser of two evils.
Though I don’t support her for POTUS, I feel no need to attack her or speculate on the unknown reason ‘why’.
1. I really don’t care.

Then why are you whining/posting about it? You and your Con buddies are acting like jilted lovers.

2. The reason(s) will come out eventually, and I can wait for that to happen. My life doesn’t revolve around Palin. I feel no urgent need to debate the ‘what ifs’ and I can easily sleep tonight and for the next 10,000 nights without knowing the answer.

Somehow, I doubt that. How’s it feel to watch your hero self immolate? Personally, I’m enjoying watching the mean-mouthed harridan self-destruct. She spent the whole campaign stirring up hate amongst the base.

3. I’m wondering why all you oppose Palin give a crap. Unless you simply like piling-on, which obviously some of you like to do. You’re so full of hate, it’s really sad and somewhat humorous to watch.
———————————–
Jim, for me, it’s the piling on. Kick the biach while she’s down.
Three theories:
1. Sarah wants to become cosmopolitan, and move to Kansas to become our next gov.
2 Sarah wants to become cosmopolitan, and move to Kansas to become our next Senator
3. Sarah was one of the women that Sanford ‘almost crossed the line with!”
4. Someone has a picture of Sarah having sex with a moose.
4. Hugh Heffner offered her a mil. to do a spread.
Have to make mine 5.
Speculation and rumor, duh Libs love it like a cheap thrill ‘Jerry Springer’ substitute.
They are probably running safety pins through their nipples as we speak – while yodeling a Janis Joplin oldie – all the while wearing silk panties and getting an erection staring at Al Gore photos.

“Regular” contributes –

Dr. Tourette called.
He wants his syndrome back.
I don’t think Palin can roll with the punches, and endure life, in the public eye. Let’s see.
Nalin Palin
Eldest daughter got pregnant at the worst timing
Did a horrible job, during mulitiple live and televised interviews with Katie Couric
Was endlessly made fun of, and breathed new life into Tina Fey’s career, then volunteered to make a fool of herself and host SNL, trying to appear to be gracious, but it backfired horribly
Lettermen making joke about eldest daughter having sex with a Yankee, but mistook the joke being about her youngest daughter, and over reacted to a lame late night joke anyway.
She was kind of like the month of March. She came in like a Cougar, pun intended, and went out like a lamb.
and she was ridiculed, for her ridiculous remarks, something about her back yard and Russia, how Africa is a Country, she signed a letter as God. I think she was too ambitious to bask in the spotlight, and now I’ve think she’s had enough of it. Fame isn’t what it’s cracked up to be, is what I’m thinking she found out.
She didn’t exactly think, before she opened her mouth, very much.
6. Trig’s Creator told Sarah it was time.
Didn’t Sarah make you feeeel, like you were the only man?
” my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things”
Now that’s change I can believe in!
I’m sure her daughters have been giving their mom crap, for dragging them in the public eye, and I’m sure Palin has given her eldest daughter crap, for getting pregnant during McCain’s run for Presidency. They’ve probably been at each others throats off and on for the past 9 months.
From the eagle article:”Palin already had a deal with publisher HarperCollins to produce her memoirs”
Maybe Sarah really did tell all and knew her political career was over anyway.
Even if she is not under some indictment cloud, the fact all the negative press came out in a couple of weeks, and she couldn’t take the heat, shows she does not have the right stuff for any government job, let alone POTUS.
Give it two more weeks, and if there’s no indictment, she’s as forgotten as one of her moose pies.
Sarah will become just another MILF.
Just think if Obams came out and said “I’ve decided not to run for president in 2012, and so I’m resigning today so as to not become a lame duck president.”
Hate Sarah Palin? By no means! I love high comedy!
You can bet the right-wing anti-statist (tip O the hat, Hank)pundits will be out in force blaming them dirty ole Liberals for this. O’Reilly will be beating his back with wet noodles; weeping and wailing and gnashing his teeth over this.
Beck will be crying rivers of phony tears, as he wails, “Why is this being allowed to happen in this America I don’t know any more? Why did I never get a chance to sleep with her while she was governor of that frigid state of Alaska? Why did she not send me her moose pie recipe?”
Rush, flatulence in broadcasting’ Limbaugh will be crying, “See folks, I told you so. MJ dies, Sanford has to run to Argentina, and Palin quits; all because Obama’s President.”
…and so I’m resigning today so as to not become a lame duck president.”
Such a pity we didn’t hear that from the lame duck who just left office a few months ago. Dick could have sat in the Oval office and not had to run the country from a secluded location. ;)

6. Someone has a picture of a moose having sex with Sarah.
The Moose-Dresser doesn’t officially resign ’til July 30th.
I guess it takes that much time to hook up the governor’s mansion and tow it back to Wasilla.
Sad thing is, she might have been worth a damn, if she did her homework, and wasn’t so mouthy and opinionated. Think her priorities were a little out of order.
She’s still more likable than Hilary Clinton. But affability has nothing to do with politics. Unless your trying to fool people. Which Palin certainly did poorly.
7. SNL offered Sarah a role to play herself.
I always found it to be just a bit disingenuous that a person who wants her state to secede from the union also wants to run for a national office.
Actually, the part of her speech that I found enlightening was where after resigning, she made the double V-sign and said “I am not a crook!”
“Sarah will become just another MILF.”
I suppose Phantom you are going to put Sarah up there next to Michelle Obama as another woman you would like to fuq?
Nice put down of women lib.
or is it mothers you would like to fuq?
Let’s see, Palin’s story of witch doctor blessings, and cell phone annointings and a husband who was “accidentally” a member of a breakaway party for SEVEN years – that she as gov of Alaska just accidentally addressed – and the mother of an unwed-mother daughter as she faces numerous ethics complaints against her as governor and is now the quitter who has demonstrated she can dish it out, but she can’t take it.
And, where is our current VP Joe Biden – tucking his tail and running because he can’t take it? Oh no, he’s in Iraq risking having his butt shot off acting as an international statesman and helping to oversee getting American troops out of the Bush war of choice. And taking a moment out to visit his officer son who is serving his country in wartime.
And what do the Wingnuts think? They think Palin who can see Russia from her house and whose unwed-mother daughter CHOSE not to have an abortion should be America’s president.
Please, Wingnuts, tell me this is about “morals” and character – and let’s discuss that. Because, frankly, you have and understand neither as per your CHOICE of presidential candidates.
She can’t win with you people anyway so who gives a fuq what you think really?
If she decides to run for President in 2012, the cries of “how can she do her JOB as Governor?”(it’s more than 1,000 miles from the continental US where she needs to spend most of her time) are gone.
Keep digging for the scandals though. I’m sure you’ll find them in the same place you did the facts on Bristol being the Mother of Trig.
Oh wait, you didn’t.
“She can’t win with you people anyway…”
Yes, she’s completely incompetent and we just won;t give her a chance.
I bet you’d be singing a completely different tune if this was about African-American firefighters and a test for promotion.
The Wingnut position too often is that you should just get what you want because you want it – to Hell with the consequences for the country.
It’s time to buy you all your own private island and ship you to it. America would be better off without you.

====================================================
Won’t give someone a chance?
And I’m the one discriminating.
Been hitting the Irish buffet early this morning eh Celtic?
Sarah Palin is completely incompetent. She SHOULDN’T be given a chance. That would be bad for America. But, it’s what YOU want, so let’s be sure to do it.
America would be better off without people like you who would drag this nation into complete ruin just so that you can have your way.
Trust me, you may want to dodge the horrible reality of your tortured reasoning when it comes to “moral values” by trying to diminish me with putdowns about “Irish buffet”, but ultimately the only thing that will release you from the consequences of it is you getting your head on straight and realizing this is not just about you. There are 300 million people in this country who deserve better than Sarah Palin in government.
WOW. 153 comments. Haw, haw, haw.
All that’s required of Sarah Palin if she chooses to run for President is Natural Born citzenship and 35 years old. If you don’t want to vote for her, don’t. But you would deny her this right because you in your infinite wisdom think she is incompetent.
And at the same time you accuse me of “singing a different tune” when it comes to African American fire fighters who were given an opportunity for promotion and didn’t quite cut the mustard.
You’re either a stereo-typical drunk irishman or you need to look up the definition of hypocrisy.

Amen to that brother.
Also, 300 million Americans including Sarah Palin deserve better than Sarah Palin in government. An American tragedy is that she doesn’t grasp her own incompetence, and evidently neither do her supporters.
The thing is, if Sarah Palin were competent to lead the nation as president, then she’d eliminate her own candidacy.
That woman is George W Bush on steroids when it comes to incompetent leadership.
You’ve got single party rule now.
Doesn’t look to be working out so well.

Let’s assume that’s true. Then it follows that Sarah Palin is the answer?!
Hellooo. Earth to Mr_Kia. You are winning CelticKin’s assertion for him (”That would be bad for America. But, it’s what YOU want, so let’s be sure to do it.”)
“All that’s required of Sarah Palin if she chooses to run for President is Natural Born citzenship and 35 years old.”
And there you have it, the impressively “high” standards Wingnuts set for their leadership.
I’ve said nothing in support of Palin other than: It’s a good idea she step down as Governor of a state 1,000 miles from the continental United States if she wants to run for President.

Constituition of the United States rummy, not me.
Doesn’t mean they’d get my vote, but I’m not one to deny someone’s their Constituition rights.
Here’s a photo from the Moose-Dressers 4th of July party –
http://www.runnersworl.com/photo/sarahpalin/slide7.html
Next to the barbecued baby seal buffet, close to the sauce ladle, a handy red-white-and-blue napkin to sop up the spills!
BTW, did anyone stick to the end of Bible Spice’s “press” conference, when the camera turned around and revealed a live audience of five people (identified as her next-door neighbors!)?
Has anyone read the transcript of her remarks. It could be an effective field sobriety test; if you can follow it, you’re drunk.
And if you’re really upset by media attention focused on your family, why do line up all the kids and the snow-machine racer to pad the stage as you hold a “press” conference for your neighbors.
(And did you see Willow? I’m wondering whether that whole Letterman flap was really about his revealing a family secret. I’m not an expert on 14-year-olds, but I thought that was around the age of losing your baby fat; not packing it on.)
And then there was Todd strapped into his Sunday-Go-To-Meetin’ clothes. I’m sure he’d look more comfortable in work clothes… as he and “a few of the buddies” built their $200,000 house for $73,000, thanks to those “buddies” not being needed those days to construct the Wasilla Downtown Arena up the street at premium prices.
Here’s an issue you CONs might try:
“If we take away her house, we’ll lose that porch with a vantage point for Russia!”
I should write for Glen Beck.
Nothing says Womens Rights like calling a 14-year old girl fat.
G’day all.
Don’t blow your fingers off today. Would hate to lose your commentary here.
There’s homeless people I would vote into office before Palin. The sad thing, money and power have nothing to do with how good of a leader someone is.
I would even go as far to say, that money and power, are what’s keeping some of our best potential leaders, from ever being heard about or known of in the first place.

Got it, thanks for the clarification.
Seems like you have to practically sell your soul, for a chance, at a political career in the country. Or else bust your hump the good honest way, and hope by the time your 80 you have enough supporters to back you. No one really wants an old fogie in office though.
Well that, and nobody runs on their own personal platform. They run of a well versed and constructed platform, supplied by the people who are funding their run into office.
That might not be entirely true though. Palin’s views seemed a little out of line, of McCains views. The people who funded McCain were probably kicking themselves in the head, for his decision to pick Palin as his running mate.
“The people who funded McCain were probably kicking themselves in the head, for his decision to pick Palin as his running mate.”
While clapping themselves on the back for backing “a maverick.”
Careful what you wish for, I guess.
I agree that there are probably many Americans who are able and fit to lead the US as president, but who’ve become wealthy by now. Wealth has the obvious “income effect” of making its holders more aware of the true value of privacy and free time. Their fortune, our loss.
Hey monkeyhaw…Palin must have had the photo pulled ’cause the link doesn’t work today.
Hmmmmm.that photo might have proven to be an impeachable offense for the Governor if SHE WASN’T ALREADY A QUITTER!!!!!!!!!
Part of the reason the President of the United States is a challenging job is the person is the only-est person on the planet all Americans can vote on.
That’s a pretty simple, but pretty big factor.
In basic political science, and throughout all theories of government, there’s a balance between serving the people’s wants and serving the people’s needs.
And then it gets weird.
I’m sure in the bowels of Josef Stalin’s brain, murdering 20 million dissidents was what the Russian people “needed.” Crazy? As a hoot-owl. But somehow it seemed like a good idea at the time.
“Dr No” and “Goldfinger” didn’t think they were insane. And there’s probably a rationale Kim Jong Il could come up with which would rationalize why 300 Vegas lap-dancers were more important than giving North Koreans 29 more grams of rice per day. I’m not sure that’s specific evidence against socialism but it’s pretty good evidence against Kim Jong Il.
(I mean, if you’re gonna judge socialism on the basis of Stalin and Kim, I’m gonna start looking for connections between Scott Roeder and Operation Rescue, okay?)
But I digress…
From the Vanity Fair article:
More than once in my travels in Alaska, people brought up, without prompting, the question of Palin’s extravagant self-regard. Several told me, independently of one another, that they had consulted the definition of “narcissistic personality disorder” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders—“a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy”—and thought it fit her perfectly.
When Trig was born, Palin wrote an e-mail letter to friends and relatives, describing the belated news of her pregnancy and detailing Trig’s condition; she wrote the e-mail not in her own name but in God’s, and signed it “Trig’s Creator, Your Heavenly Father.”
Dr No? Goldfinger? Blofeld?
How ’bout the Wasilla Whacko?
Not Bush on steroids…more like the 2nd Coming of Hitler.
Sorry I had to leave so early last night. I am in Colorado and went to a great ball game, saw the best fireworks show ever and was very proud to be an American and a Christian. The music was fantastic. Patriotic and Christian. What a treat.
You lib haters need to get out more. It is good for the soul.
Okie – you remind me of the old woman that sat on the front row pew every Sunday. She was properly dressed, held her Bible up for all to see, sang all the beautiful hymns, could pray a beautiful prayer but her heart was full of such contempt and hate for everyone around her – especially those who were ‘different’ or ‘not in her economic class’.
Every Sunday this woman sat there and thought she was going to help God pass out those lighting bolts on Judgment Day. But she died a lonely, old bitter woman with no friends. Why? Because every saw through her face of hypocrisy.
I pitied that old woman until she died. She never really knew that she was causing harm to the name of being a Christian. She really was jus an arrogant fool.
Mccain saying palin’s going to have a great leadership role in the party, we can only hope. But, I think mccain’s as kooky as his v.p. choice.
So Palin is stepping down because she has a “higher calling?” Isn’t Alaska where they have those liberal marijuana laws? Just how high is Palin already? That would certainly explain some of her speeches and all the wink-wink-kiss-kiss for the cameras and her munchies for moose patties! And if her kids share tokes with her, it could explain their forgetfulness regarding birth control and her hauling Bristol with child before the national media.
Levi Johnston, the kid that the cons held up as a model for young men everywhere, is out shopping his own tell all book about the Palin family. This is starting to get good!
Phant,
Levi Johnston apparently got a lesson on the theory of relativity- Not Einstein’s, the one that states “You don’t marry the girl; you marry the whole damned family!”
I also wonder if she was one of those Mark Sanford inadvertantly crossed a line with- put his hand on her knee and found he was feeling her left boob!
Astounding. Risky. Quitter. And that’s what fellow conservatives had to say Sunday about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her decision to step down with 18 months left in her term.
Karl Rove, the “architect” of George W. Bush’s successful presidential campaigns, said the resignation left many of Palin’s fellow Republicans “a little perplexed.”
“It’s a risky strategy,” Rove told “Fox News Sunday.”
“Astounding,” was the pronouncement by Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and conservative columnist George Will said Palin was declaring herself a quitter.
Will told the ABC program “This Week” that he had “no idea why she did this.”
“The one that rings most hollow is, she doesn’t want to put Alaska through the terror of [her] being a lame-duck governor,” Will said. “If she is just weary of it, one can understand that. Still, she made a contract with [voters] to serve out her term. And she said, in her own words, she now is a quitter.”
The Votemaster had a good explanation of why her “lame duck” excuse was just that, an excuse.
“The filing deadline for governor is close to a year from now. As long as no one knew if she was running for governor again, she would not have been a lame duck and the state legislature would have had to treat her with respect. Saying she did not want to be a lame duck is disingenuous since she is the one causing the orthopedic problem in the duck by making this announcement.”

Greta (sell out) Sustern is doing a show on Palin here in a little bit on Fox news?
I can’t escape the feeling that something very big is about to come to light and Fox is helping Palin with damage control.
I am very disappointed in this latest inexplicable turn of events. I had looked forward to her being a candidate in 2012. Maybe the Republicans will make this a silk purse?
Hmmmmmmmm….
“Questioning Van Susteren’s Palin Ties NYTimes
Fox News host Greta Van Susteren’s ties to the Palin family are raising questions at a time when her ratings are also spurring talk that her show may be shifted from its coveted 10 p.m. time slot, the New York Times reports. Ms. Van Susteren’s husband, John Coale, gave Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin advice about starting a political action committee when the couple met the Palins for an interview the weekend after the presidential election, the newspaper says. Many news outlets frown on staffers covering events if their partners are in some way affiliated with them, the Times adds.
—Aimee Picchi
Hmmmmm
‘Sustern”+”Palin” produces any number of interesting hits.
Yes Greta van Susteren and Sarah Palin are friends and work together.
Todd Palin was Greta’s guest at the White House Correspondents dinner in May.
Greta’s an odd duck.
She got her start on Court TV, the CNN as a lawyer, prosecutor, defense attorney… and seemed to know her stuff.
I gotta think Murdoch gave her an obscene amount of money to sell her soul and, as a typical lawyer, she snatched up the money.
There’s nothing but dollar signs in the Van Susteren/Palin connection. It’s a cash cow gig like being Michael Jackson’s ’script doctor.
I suspect it’s part of the whole Fox News Channel business plan:
“I’m not a journalist but I play one on television…”
And what the hey….
For a limo and a Malibu beach house and walking-around money, I have what it takes to substitute for Glen Beck when his clozapine wears off. I’ve read CONs on WE Blog and I know all their insanities.
Greta latched on to the Moose-Dresser because she was expecting a media money train.
Along the way she lost track of the fact: the Moose-Dresser is crazy as a hoot owl.
