Enjoy making Republicans run and hide? It’s easy, just ask them whether or not they believe Obama was born in the United States (for the cons who fail at everything, yes, Hawaii is a state in the Union).
http://rawstory.com/blog/2009/07/mike-stark-know-your-birthers/
That’s just how ashamed someone is to be a birther.
The House voted unanimously to pass a resolution honoring the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood and recognized Hawaii as Obama’s birthplace.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/27/house-to-consider-counter_n_245741.html
Yeah, even the Republicans had to come out and admit they didn’t want to be associated with the birther movement anymore.
Ahhh….let’s hear it for the 40+ people including mostly Democratic mayors and state represntatives arrested in New Jersey on charges of fraud.
Based on some of the “logic” shown on this forum, that could lead me to say something about ALL Democrats are crooks, right? I do not make such simplistic and ridiculous generalizations, however.
“representatives” spelling can be a challenge before enough coffee….
“Raptor” –
I think it would be a more accurate assessment to believe every politician in Jersey is corruption. The only reason the most recent sweep had more Democrats is the Repubic Party pols are in the pokey, thanks to 2005’s “Operation Bid Rig” which led to the arrest in 2005 of at least 11 New Jersey Republicans.
Sometimes you should refrain from posting about issues you know nothing about. Albeit, we’ll miss you.
ahhh…i understand. your “defense” of the current string of arrests is to point and say “they did it first”…
so, two wrongs DO make a right in your mind?
No, “Raptor” –
It isn’t a “they did it first” argument. It’s simply an observation they always do that in New Jersey.
It’s in their DNA.
For all I know, if you go back through a few dozen political corruption cases in Jersey it may very well have been Democrats who “did it first.”
In the meantime, just about every “reform” government has been been corrupted in New Jersey. The closest you can possibly project from my post is, “They all do it.” In Jersey anyway.
Probably most places, I dunno.
But they’re oddly comfortable about in in New Jersey. That’s just the way it is.
I think Mark Sanford was a family “values” poser who lived at the C Street house while boinking his Argentinian hottie. That doesn’t mean I think everyone at C Street house has a South American bombshell to boink. (Who would boink Brownback, Tiahrt, or Moran anyway?)
I was merely pointing out your particular party partisanship exposed when you felt to cite the recent New Jersey corruption round-up.
I was pointing out how you have no idea what you’re writing about.
I wasn’t “defending” the latest bout of Jersey scofflaws, merely providing you some historical perspective.
while I appreciate the history lesson, I fear you missed my initial point. That being that there are many people on this forum that will find ONE example of malfeance by someone in one party, and immediate describe the entire political party as criminal.
I was referring to the ridiculous and very common practice of making gross exaggerations and generalizations.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Spc. Justin D. Coleman, 21, of Spring Hill, Fla., died July 24 in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fires. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.

“The report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the public option proposed by Democrats would not drive private insurers out of business and most people would still choose to get their medical coverage through employers.
The public option has come under heavy fire from Republicans who say it will devastate the private insurance industry.”
Looks like more baseless hyperbole from the rw has been debunked, not that it’ll matter to the faithful.
Looks like the Democrats are STILL trying to blame the Republicans for not being able to pass the ObamaCare plan they wanted.
You have the majority in Congress & the White House Dems, yet you still blame SOMEBODY ELSE for YOUR FAILURES!
Wonder if the CBO cited UPS as a case in point?

Look, you have your religion and your faith. Bully for you. You can’t force that on anyone else. There are more unknowns about climate than there are knowns. Proof of that are the ever failing climate models.
You can come on here and try to pick fights all you like. Your politically selected and motivated IPCC has about as much relevance to realists as the bible has to maggot.
So flail away cosmo. The world is not ending. We are not going to burn up. If you choose to keep believing that, bully for you. But your contrived superiority here is laughable. Your monotonous single issue ranting is all but an annoyance anymore.

______________
This is perfect example of cherry picking. It downplays “record cold” and equates it with “unusually hot” while ignoring that most of those 3000 record cold temps were in the SE quadrant.
And, for the record cos, what you have proven is that you are a shrill alarmist. A monotonous bore with little more than talking points from rc. You have no arguments. When faced with science, you have no rebuttal that isn’t canned for you by rc. You simply deflect with “How many other scientists agree” or some other drivel.
You are weak. Your faith is weak. You have no science other than what rc has canned for you.
You have a pathetic life. Look at you! All you can do is try to pick fights on a blog over the same topic day in and day out.
What is it like to have only one thing in your life? One thing that fades and grows weaker with every passing year? What will you do when global warming is shown to be the farce that it is?
How sad for you. What a pathetic existence.
I’m not sure which portion of a revolving orb constitutes the “southeast quadrant” of the globe.

Why I even bother with blog Bluto SolDevVBullwinkle I don’t know.
Cosmos suggested that using regional data sets is not as valuable as looking at the aggregate of regions as a whole. As a response, he suggested the troll donndublin look at a region in Texas. To imply that cosmos was using one small data point to argue against another is to miss the point (and I suspect it is intentional in this case). The point is that one can find regional data points to make any argument with regards to climate change.
The reality is, the best qualified scientists and associations made up of relevant scientists (such as the National Academy of Sciences), who do not have a political ideological ax to grind, continue to take AGW seriously as supported by best available evidence. And using junior high insults like the “r” word is not going to change that reality.

So, if health is the absence of abnormality, the only way to know you are healthy is to become a customer.
But healthy people aren’t great customers; they’re like the people who pay off their entire credit card balance each month. The money is in those in whom an abnormality can be found.
The medical-industrial complex has made that relatively easy to do.
It develops diagnostic technologies able to find smaller and smaller abnormalities. So more and more of us are found to have damaged cartilage in our knees, bulging discs in our backs, and narrowed blood vessels throughout our bodies. And far too many are also found to have “spots” or “shadows” that are seldom significant but are said to be “worrisome.” So more and more of us have knee surgery, back surgery, angioplasty and more diagnostic investigation.

NEW YORK (Fortune) — In promoting his health-care agenda, President Obama has repeatedly reassured Americans that they can keep their existing health plans — and that the benefits and access they prize will be enhanced through reform.
A close reading of the two main bills, one backed by Democrats in the House and the other issued by Sen. Edward Kennedy’s Health committee, contradict the President’s assurances. To be sure, it isn’t easy to comb through their 2,000 pages of tortured legal language. But page by page, the bills reveal a web of restrictions, fines, and mandates that would radically change your health-care coverage.

The National Academy of Science Hoax on Global Warming
The ‘jawless fish’ appears to have great admiration for the National Academy of Science and its view on Global Warming.
Here’s the inside story of how Liberal Agenda has infiltrated hallowed science with alarmists and hoaxers.
Amanda Staudt, ranking member of the National Wildlife Federation part of the polar bear hugging alarmist group – helped the NAS write a brochure on Global Warming.
Nancy Huddleston, Senior Communications Officer
Division on Earth and Life Studies, The National Academies of Sciences, with a degree in Biology (yes, we know that Biologists do atmospheric science – cough) – also helped the NAS on the Global Warming brochure.
F. Sherwood Rowland, the atmospheric chemist from the University of California, Irvine, the chair of the Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate, is on record as saying he thinks CO2 will go to 1000 ppm. That is a clear bias toward alarmism.
Hahahaha! There isn’t enough fossil fuel in the world to generate the 1000 ppm in anthropogenic CO2
Raymond T. Pierrehumbert, Professor of Geophysical Sciences,University of Chicago, another board member but also connected to RealClimate. He was a lead author on the IPCC Third Assesment He’s hardly neutral.
Yeah, another biased alarmist who has infiltrated the NAS. A RealClimate dot ORG groupie as well.
So this is what the ‘jawless fish’ parades as part of the package of credibility from the National Academy of Science.
Tree-huggers, a biology major, an atmospheric chemist who states the impossible (1000 ppm co2) and a deep insider of the IPCC and that alarmist blog of RealClimate dot ORG.
Is it any wonder that we DO NOT take the ‘jawless fish’s’ posts with any seriousness.

“Text messaging on a cell phone was associated with the highest risk of all cell phone related tasks,” the VTTI said. “The tasks that draw the driver’s eyes away from the forward roadway were those with the highest risk.”
Gad, this takes a study?

Meanwhile, this greets us in today’s NY Times,
Since 1553, when Sir Hugh Willoughby led an expedition north in search of a sea passage over Russia to the Far East, mariners have dreamed of such a shortcut. (Willoughby and his crew, apparently asphyxiated by carbon monoxide after sealing up their boat against brutal cold, froze to death.)
In part because of warming and the retreat and thinning of Arctic sea ice in summer, this northern sea route is slowly becoming a reality. Russian vessels have long hauled ore and oil along the country’s sprawling northern coast, but no commercial ships under other flags have passed between Asia and Western Europe. Now, a German company, the Beluga Group of Bremen, has a ship poised to make what appears to be the first such trip, an 8,000-mile shortcut compared with alternate routes. The “ Arctic Rush” is on.
The report by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute is evidence based. Sure, it is commonsense that texting and cellphone use can contribute to crashes. But if one is making laws, it is commonsense to have actual quantitative data. You know.. evidence. Evidence is much in vogue these days.

Did you forget the land bridge Capn? You know that stretch of land from Asia to Alaska where primitive man walked across, there was no ice.
Or how about Antarctica, which rests upon, you guessed it land.
How did the Vikings accomplish farming in Greenland if it was always frozen?
We can await the next mammoth tusk to be dug up on Kellogg construction to show that Climate not only radically changes, it changes with an abruptness that eradicates entire species.
But let’s do raise taxes and the cost of everything because anthropogenic co2 MAY cause it to get warmer. And this will accomplish what when mother nature decides to set her shoulder and push the next natural climate change that man will have absolutely no control over.

I agree that conclusion was maddeningly simple-minded.
But there is benefit, I think, in quantifying the risk.
How much more likely is it that texting will lead to an accident.
If you have 50 people texting and driving at any one time in Wichita city limits, how many more wrecks and to what severity would those wrecks likely be?
That’s helpful information to determine how serious the risk is and how strong the laws against it should be.
Sorry, David.

A doctor responds to Krugman’s article about gov’t run health care:
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/25/why-markets-cant-cure-healthcare/?apage=7#comment-204835
I quit practicing medicine in 2003 at the age of 43. Burned out. Like most doctors I went into medicine with a lot of idealism. The first half of my medical career was in the Army (they paid for my medical education). The second half was in private practice.
In the Army system, a single payer system, I was free to focus my attention on patient care, as were my colleagues. Conversations between doctors revolved around the latest medical research on how to best care for our patients. I never thought about how much money a particular treatment option for a patient would earn for me – I was paid a salary and it was the same no matter what treatment options I chose. I never had to deal with getting an insurance company to pay me for my medical services after I had already given them. I never had to argue with an insurance company after they denied my treatment plan for a patient as “medically unnecessary.”
In private practice I was horrified to see how money was the driving force behind everything doctors did (do). Doctors talked with each other about opening their own specialty clinics to capture fees that had previously gone to hospitals. Over the years the discussions at medical conferences began to devote less time to the science behind new innovations and more time to teaching doctors how to make money with the new innovations.
Worst of all, I saw patients routinely suffer from unnecessary, expensive, and often harmful treatment interventions that were clearly chosen because they earned the most money for the doctor and the hospital.
I even had the bizarre experience of having an insurance company try to convince me to pursue a series of invasive surgical procedures in a particular patient instead of the much less expensive exercise program I had recommended because the series of surgical procedures was in their algorithm for treating the diagnostic code I had assigned the patient and exercise wasn’t.
And, I haven’t even mentioned the problem that since I graduated from medical school in 1985 there has been a huge shift in who finances medical research. It used to be government and universities with an interest in advancing medical knowledge. Today most medical research is financed and directed by pharmaceutical companies and their main objective is getting research data that can be used to market their products – whether the products are really useful or not.
I agree with Dr. Krugman – there is no place for “free market ideas” in medicine – at least not if you want your doctor to actually take care of you.

I don’t argue, it’s historical fact and documented in ancient Norman and Saxon writings.
The Romans who were in England as 43 A.D. They introduced wine growing, although they were not very successful in the colder and wetter climate – different from the Mediterranean variety of grapes they were used to growing.
Wine making continued at least down to the time of the Normans(1066 A.D.) with over 40 vineyards in England as mentioned in the Domesday Book, although much of what was being produced was for making communion wine for the Eucharist.

Greenland, England and the Medieval Warming Period
At that time, the inner regions of the long fjords where the settlements were located were very different from today. Excavations show that there were considerable birch woods with birch trees up to 4 to 6 meters high in the area around the inner parts of the Tunuliarfik- and Aniaaq-fjords, the central area of the Eastern settlement, and the
hills were grown with grass and willow brushes. This was due to the medieval climate optimum.(1) The Norse soon changed the vegetation by cutting down the trees to use as building material and for heating and by extensive sheep and goat grazing during summer and winter. The climate in Greenland was much warmer during the first
centuries of settlement but became increasingly colder in the 14th and 15th centuries with the approaching period of colder weather known as the Little Ice Age.
Wikipedia
1. Medieval Climatic Optimum
Michael E Mann
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA
The Medieval Climatic Optimum (also known as the Little Climatic Optimum, Medieval Warm Period, or Medieval Warm Epoch) refers to a period of climatic history during which temperatures in Europe and neighboring regions of the North Atlantic are believed to have been comparable to, or to have even exceeded, those of the late 20th century.
This period is conventionally believed to have occurred from approximately 900–1300 AD, terminating with the more moderate conditions of the 15th century.
Grapes were grown in England several hundred kilometers north of their current limits of growth, and subtropical flora such as fig trees and olive trees grew in regions of Europe (northern Italy and parts of Germany) well north of their current range. Geological evidence indicates that mountain glaciers throughout Europe retreated substantially at this time, relative to the glacial advances of
later centuries (Grove and Switsur)

The late Ordovician suffered an ice age (with associated mass extinction) while atmospheric CO2 levels were more than 4,000ppm higher than those of today.
According to the AGW alarmists, at those levels of co2 every piece of of ice should have been melted from the planet.
But one problem with that – the huge amount of co2 levels possibly 4500ppm was smack dab in the middle of an ice age!
There is no correlation between atmospheric CO2 and planetary temperature over the last 600 million years, so why would such relatively tiny amounts suddenly become a critical factor now?

Phantom if you would take the time to actuallyr ead the CBO report, instead of the bullets you get on the democrat websites you might be surprised:
“If we assumed that workers at larger firms would be allowed to purchase coverage through the exchanges, our estimate of the number of enrollees involved would undoubtedly be greater than 6 million, but we have not estimated the magnitude. Analysts at the Lewin Group recently estimated that if all employers were given access to the insurance exchanges, more than 100 million people would end up enrolling in the public
plan.
Because all of these factors are uncertain, estimating enrollment in the public plan is
especially difficult—as we emphasized in our earlier letter.
All this global warming alarmism is getting to be a gigantic bore….and as we’ve known all along, the playground of fools.
Who is the Lewin Group?
““The report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the public option proposed by Democrats would not drive private insurers out of business ”
Here’s some more good news from the CBO report:
“As discussed in
CBO’s letter of July 17, we estimate that the proposal as a whole would increase federal
deficits by $239 billion over the 2010–2019 period. That estimate has three major
components: the net effect of the coverage specifications, which affect both spending and
revenues and which would add an estimated $1,042 billion to cumulative deficits over
that period;”
“Combining those
provisions, increases in health care spending in excess of the rate of growth in income would be borne entirely by the federal government in the form of higher subsidy payments—because those payments would have to cover the entire difference between the total premium for insurance coverage and the capped amount that enrollees would pay. Those factors help explain why the costs of the coverage provisions would continue to grow rapidly in the decade after 2019.”
“new federal spending on Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program would be outlays, as would the spending for subsidies to purchase insurance coverage through the new exchanges. Those two streams of outlays
would amount to an estimated $1,211 billion over 10 years.”

CaptAmerica: I am encouraed that the truth about healthcare is becoming more mainstream. A little while ago a Canadian woman by the name of Holmes(?) was featured by the anti-reform people showing her as being saved by America because Canada would not operate on her cancerous brain tumour in time to save her life. The amazed press up there followed up on the story and the Ottawa Citizen disovered she had a benign cyst (Rathke’s Cleft Cyst)on the pituitary gland and been scheduled for surgery to her to deal with the complaint. Unhappy at not being put at the “head of the line” she went to the Mayo Clinic for the procedure, costing her $94,000.00 which she wanted the Province of Ontario to pay. They refused so she went “public”. That same paper got a confirming diagnosis and the lack of imminent concern from the John Wayne Cancer Center people. Before that one, Fox & Co. championed a doctor from Vancouver. Well, the amazed (and amused)Canadian media found out he had been previoulsy stripped of his postion in the CMA, as an immigrant annoyed and humiliated at the delay to get accredited in Canada and been refused permission to bill patients directly which would bypass the single payer system. So he went “public” but later told the local media he had been misquoted, his words truncted and his real postion altered by Fox. He continues to practice under the system he agreed to when granted his license up there. I guess he decided it ain’t that bad after all, or surely he’d have move here. “Three things cannot be hidden for long, the sun, the moon and the truth”….. Bhuddha. Oh, I hope so.

Looking beyond the 10-year budget window, CBO expects that this proposal would generate larger but still modest savings on the same probabilistic basis,” CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf wrote in a letter to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Saturday.”

The dramatic drop in traffic has happened despite the Obama Administration’s complete redesign of the site.”

You must have missed where I have many times posted my great respect for my union steward father. He would have had NO use for a bootlick like yourself.
Just between us socialist:
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is taking over private companies in order to deal with the economic crisis that has affected both his country and the United States, and the Obama administration is trying to do roughly the same thing, Venezuelan political analyst Dr. Luis Vicente León told CNSNews.com Monday.
“I don’t like to make comparisons (between the U.S. and Venezuela) because you can only compare concepts,” León, a noted political analyst and pollster in Venezuela said in Spanish. “But conceptually, one can say that in order to solve the crisis, President Obama has had to overtake private companies.”
He added: “Chavez is using the thesis that he is going to solve the crisis (by taking over) private companies.”
Although both countries utilize different rhetoric, ultimately the “concept” behind the state meddling with the private sector in order to deal with the economy is the same in both countries, according to León.
My Dad shortened ( I should think) and made very unpleasant the lives of a lot of toadies like yourself bawks. I didn’t manage to stay at it as long as he. But you rest assured I did him proud.

Global Temperatures Drop Dramitically
All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
January 2008 capped a 12 month period of global temperature drops on all of the major well respected indicators. I have reported in the past two weeks that HadCRUT, RSS, UAH, and GISS global temperature sets all show sharp drops in the last year.
Source: Global ?T °C
HadCRUT – 0.595
GISS - 0.750
UAH - 0.588
RSS - 0.629
Average: - 0.6405°C

What I really like about your cut-and-post is how specifically wrong all the details of Jefferson’s presidency were in the cut-and-post you couldn’t have possibly read.
1777-to-1781? No one was President of the United States then. There was no Constitution in 1777-1781, ergo no President of the United States.
Further, Jefferson served two terms, not four years.
And further, presidential terms didn’t take effect on January 20th until midway through FDR’s presidency.
The elegant detail of ignorance… and your obliviousness of them… speaks volumes about your thought process.
And, yeah. I’m beginning to tire of ragging you about it. But I still have a ways to go before I can match your post count about how you allegedly “…took BJ to school!!!” in that parking lot a while back.
And, frankly, (admitting my inner troll) it’s fun to watch your hissy-fits when I remind the forum you posted Thomas Jefferson was President of the United States between January 20, 1777 to January 20, 1781.
You know you did it.
You blame whomever actually wrote what you cut-and-posted. You either did not read what you cut-and-posted or didn’t notice how obviously wrong that information was that you, y’know, cut-and-posted.

Got an email from a good neighbor who lives the next mile road over and across the creek from us.
Born on leap day and says he is only 22 years old. Good friend. I learn alot from my seniors. But he is an FDR democrat. He raised a nest of democrats. Wife, kids (two retired teachers), grandkids, etc..
Anyway, he sent me a chain email about “Obama is going to ration healthcare! UK rations healthcare for seniors – denies cardiac care.”
I made it onto one of his distribution lists so I get all kinds of FWD emails, 99% of which I delete without reading. Lots old timers on the Copy to line with me. Lots of seniors. Appeared angry and scared of Obamacare.
I didn’t have the heart to tell him (nor reply to all) the snopes had proven the chain letter false.

Monkey,
Dimwit, when are you going to recognize that Thomas Jefferson’s term wasn’t even apart of the discussion previous to you making it a central issue, and no it was not important to me at all.
You could not argue the political subject and picked dates to make an issue of because you have nothing else.

Well, I’m not surprised that BlueJay would hate country music. Too American. Since he quoted Toby Keith in his post, I’m posting a patriotic Toby Keith song, because, well, because I dam sure can.
American Soldier Lyrics
Artist(Band):Toby Keith
I’m just trying to be a father,
Raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother,
Everything to everyone.
Up and at ‘em bright and early,
I’m all business in my suit,
Yeah, I’m dressed up for success from my head down to my boots,
I don’t do it for the money, there’s bills that I can’t pay,
I don’t do it for the glory, I just do it anyway,
Providing for our future’s my responsibility,
Yeah I’m real good under pressure, being all that I can be,
And I can’t call in sick on Mondays when the weekend’s been too strong,
I just work straight through the holidays,
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I’m solid, hey I’m steady, hey I’m true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I’ve counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
Oh, and I don’t want to die for you,
But if dying’s asked of me,
I’ll bear that cross with honor,
‘Cause freedom don’t come free.
2x-I’m an American soldier, an American,
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty’s in jeopardy I will always do what’s right,
I’m out here on the front lines, sleep in peace tonight.
American soldier, I’m an American,
An American,
An American Soldier

“The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being,” John P. Not looking so good for all free healthcare:
“A bipartisan group of senators is closing in on a health care compromise that omits key Democratic priorities but seeks to hold down costs, as lawmakers on both sides of the Capitol labor to deliver sweeping health legislation to President Barack Obama.
After weeks of secretive talks, three Democrats and three Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee were edging closer to a compromise that excludes a requirement many congressional Democrats seek for large businesses to offer coverage to their workers. Nor would there be a provision for a government insurance option”

Did you know that you can be an American AND be registered as a Democrat Clark? It’s not impossible.
“The United States and China are striking a conciliatory tone in their public comments during economic talks, although that hasn’t stopped China from posing some pointed questions behind closed doors about such issues as America’s soaring budget deficit.”
[Good American conservatives have been trying to explain econmics to Obama - you think he will listen to China?]
“Officials from both nations played down the prospects for any breakthroughs this week on the major issues that separate the two nations, including America’s massive trade deficit with China. Critics have blamed the trade deficit over the years for the loss of millions of U.S. manufacturing jobs.”
Democrats used to blame Bush.
Now, Obama is kissing China’s but for more trade.

iPhone Apps for the Lawbreaker in You
You’re driving along the highway, maybe exceeding the speed limit, when your iPhone calls out to you: “Police often hide here.”
Glancing at the phone, you see a road map that pinpoints your exact location and, very close to it, an icon of a police car. It’s time to ease the pedal from the metal.
This is why you’ve downloaded “Trapster,” one of several “apps” — programs available for the Apple iPhone — that can help users get a leg up on the law.
If you’re a blackjack player, there’s an iPhone app you can use to count cards — a neat little trick that will help you beat the odds in a casino.
One added feature is that it can also can help you obtain a room in a Nevada prison and stay free for six years. (It isn’t illegal to count cards, but it’s illegal in Nevada to use a device to count cards.)
If you’re a marijuana smoker, yet another app will show you where you can find it and buy it — with a doctor’s prescription, of course.
The most popular of these apps is “Trapster,” with 1.5 million users. The free program uses the GPS receiver built into new iPhones to track a driver’s location and warn of nearby speed traps and red light cameras. It’s also available for phones running Google Android and some BlackBerries.
Drivers can add new locations to the app by hitting buttons to mark speed traps and red light cameras for other drivers. Users can also rate the accuracy of speed trap reports, which helps weed out fake inputs.
The app potentially can help users speed or run lights more often. Nonetheless, police are largely supportive of Trapster, because they hope it will get users to slow down.

LOL Regular!
Too bad the Stimulus doesn’t have money for Road Kill Crews until 2011.
Why our country is in trouble
A DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of ‘why’ our country is in trouble!
1.I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle
seat so that her hair wouldn’t get messed up by being near the window. (On
an airplane!)
2.I got a call from a Kansas Congressman’s (Moore) staffer (Howard
Bauleke), who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of
the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with,
”I’m not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in
Massachusetts .”
Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ”Cape Cod is
in Massachusetts , Capetown is in Africa ”
his response — click.
3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a
Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in
Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain
that’s not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state.
He replied, ‘don’t lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very
thin state!” (OMG)
4. I got a call from a lawmaker’s wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ”Is it
possible to see England from Canada ?”
I said, ”No.”
She said, ”But they look so close on the map.” (OMG, again!)
5.An aide for a cabinet member (Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if
he could rent a car in Dallas. I pulled up the reservation and noticed he
had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas . When I asked him why he wanted to
rent a car, he said, ”I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need
a car to drive between gates to save time.” (Aghhhh)
6.An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed
to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30
a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m.
I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois , but she couldn’t
understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went
fast, and she bought that.
7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ”Do airlines
put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage
belongs to whom?” I said, ‘No, why do you ask?’
he replied, ”Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on
my luggage that said (FAT), and I’m overweight. I think that’s very
rude!”
After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was
dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno , Ca.
is (FAT – Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a
destination tag on his luggage..
8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip
package to Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, ”Would
it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?”
9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright (D)
from Ala who asked, ”How do I know which plane to get on?”
I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ”I was told my
flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.”
10. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D)
called and said, ”I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola , Florida . Do I have to
get on one of those little computer planes?”
I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola , FL on a commuter plane.
She said, ”Yeah, whatever, smarty!”
11. Mary Landrieu (D) La. Senator called and had a question about the
documents she needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy discussion
about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. ‘Oh, no I don’t.
I’ve been to China many times and never had to have one of those.”
I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told
her this she said, ”Look, I’ve been to China four times and every time
they have accepted my American Express!”
12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ”I
want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .”
I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ”Are you sure that’s the name
of the town?”
‘Yes, what flights do you have?” replied the man.
After some searching, I came back with, ”I’m sorry, sir, I’ve looked up
every airport code in the country and can’t find a rhino anywhere.”
”The man retorted, ”Oh, don’t be silly! Everyone knows where it is.
Check your map!”
So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ”You
don’t mean Buffalo , do you?”
The reply? ”Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.”
Now you know why the Government is in the shape that it’s in!
Could anyone be this DUMB?
