Charity Wilson didn’t go looking for a fight when she went to the Cannon House Office Building yesterday, but she was ready in case one broke out.

Wilson, an American Federation of Government Employees lobbyist, was prepared to provide Homeland Security Committee members with rebuttal arguments against any attempt to weaken or kill legislation that would allow airport screeners the right to bargain collectively.

It is the use of the X-ray Machine which requires “skilled labor”; you have to have the babies in the correct position before scanning.

    Change you can believe in!!

    Or, not.

Remember signing statements? Those were the dastardly little postscripts George Bush attached to legislation that he didn’t completely approve of. Signing statements ignore the “fundamental principle’’ of the separation of powers, the American Bar Association huffed. On the campaign trail, candidate Obama was asked, “Do you promise not to use presidential [signing statements] to get your way?’’ “Yes,’’ he answered. “I taught the Constitution for 10 years, I believe in the Constitution, and I will obey the Constitution of the United States. We are not going to use signing statements as a way of doing an end run around Congress.’’

    That was easy!

Less easy is explaining away his six signing statements so far, an impressive one-a-month clip. “Signing statements serve a legitimate function in our system,’’ Obama now says, “at least when based on well-founded constitutional objections.’’ Mr. President, meet my friend George Orwell, inventor of Newspeak, who memorably wrote, “Political language has to consist largely of euphemism, question-begging and sheer cloudy vagueness.’’

    http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/articles/2009/07/10/recycling_rubbish_at_the_white_house/

Go read the rest. It turns out that “change” isn’t really very much change at all, at least on many of the issues candidate Obama showcased such ‘fierce moral urgency.’ for “change.”

Hmmmm. Think governing is a bit different than campaigning? Reality a bit different than posturing?

    Meet the new boss . . . .

I find it curious that airport screeners, quasi-government employees want a collective bargaining position. They have no competitors, but can be easily replaced.

Besides, shutting down an entire industry if they go on strike holds a little too much power imo. It’s little more than blackmail.

More spelling errors plague Obama releases
    @ 2:09 pm by Michael O’Brien
Misspellings continued to plague the Obama administration on Thursday, after two more releases containing errors were sent to reporters in the last 24 hours.

After misspelling the president’s name as “Barak Obama” yesterday on an official document sent to reporters, the General Services Administration messed up another message when announcing it had awarded an $18 million contract to redesign the website keeping track of spent stimulus dollars.

“Recvoery.gov Version 2.0 $18 Million Contract Awarded,” the release’s subject line read. (”Recovery” was spelled correctly in the body of the email.)

The White House also sent out a release containing a typo in its joint statement from White House and the spokesman for U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown about the leader between Obama and the British PM today.

“The Prime Minister wlecomed the President’s plans for a nuclear security conference in 2010,” the sentence read.

    —–

Please don’t insult my intelligence – and demonstrate your willful ignorance – and tell me that this would be ignored in Republican administration. Riiiight.

Where’s that Quayle-O-Meter when you need it?

Meanwhile, the WH press corps is partying with the president during a VIP 4th of July shindig. The press and Obama still in bed together, it seems.

Baloney Ballistics ~ Gun databases fail

    http://www.reason.com/news/show/130311.html

“Seven years ago, New York started a database of “ballistic fingerprints” for all new handguns sold in the state. The bill’s backers sold it as a crime-solving device, arguing that the state would now have a sample of a spent shell and bullet for every new gun sold. This, they said, would help police connect future evidence from crime scenes to specific guns.

Since then, the authorities have entered 200,000 newly purchased guns into the database and spent $1 million dollars a year on the system. Yet it hasn’t led to a single solved crime. The only other state with such a database, Maryland, can attribute at least one conviction to the system since it was created in 2000-more than zero, but few enough that the state’s own Police Forensics Division has suggested scrapping the program because of its demonstrated lack of benefits.”

So lets see, so far 1 crime has been solved with the help of these balasitc databases in nearly 10 years since Maryland and New York have started using them.

Just another liberal waste of money trying to make guns safer with their “reasonable” gun control… yeah right.

    Could it be:

    1. Since convicted criminals can’t buy guns legally, they don’t register their guns?

    2. Only law-abiding people are forced to register their guns?

But WHY would the Government only want to have a database of law-abiding gun owners?

“The Obama administration revealed last week that as much as $16.1 million from the stimulus program is going to save the San Francisco Bay Area habitat of, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.

That has revived Republican criticism that the pet project was an “invisible earmark” in the massive spending bill for Mrs. Pelosi, whose San Francisco district abuts the Bay, and epitomizes what Republicans say is the failure of stimulus spending so far to help an economy still shedding jobs.”

These funds will support new economic recovery projects in our community as our nation is facing many financial challenges.

“The Low Income Investment Fund and the Northern California Community Loan Fund are two organizations that do exceptional work in the Bay Area. The Low Income Investment Fund serves low-income communities in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. The Prez appears to have his work cut out for him. China is still after the dollar it seems.

“The discussion, which took place between the leaders of five emerging economies and the G8 industrialised nations, including Barack Obama, caused concern among western leaders.

“We should have a better system for reserve currency issuance and regulation, so that we can maintain relative stability of major reserve currencies exchange rates and promote a diversified and rational international reserve currency system,” said Mr Dai, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

While he did not single out the dollar, Mr Dai was clearly calling for the world to diversify its reserve currency system and stabilise exchange rates among leading currencies.

China has made a series of attacks on the dollar in recent months, and went as far as to question Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, about the trustworthiness of the currency on her visit to China earlier this year.”

“…the salt marshes are not in the speaker’s urban district and the harvest mouse never inhabited the city.

Two San Francisco Bay Area projects were among 50 marine and coastal habitat restoration projects undertaken by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with $167 million from the stimulus, dubbed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

About $7.6 million went to restore more than 1,990 acres comprising three former salt ponds in the southern end of San Francisco Bay and $8.5 million went to restore wetlands in American Canyon salt pond, also in the Bay Area.

The Commerce Department, which oversees NOAA, said the 50 projects were chosen from a pool of 814 proposals totaling more than $3 billion in requests. The agency said it worked through a rigorous selection process to identify and set priorities for projects meeting the stimulus law’s criteria.

However, even prior to the stimulus vote, Republican lawmakers said NOAA was indicating that saving the harvest mouse would be a top priority for any stimulus money it received.

Because unemployment in those areas has remained low (technology and tourism industry) they get away with putting funds into stupid things because the way I see it you represent millions of people that because of the local economy really don’t need Governments help. But because again it’s such a big population you manage to get money and get to put it towards crazy special interests. Part of the problem with Government in general.

Chas why do you get so explosive? Even removing the speakers house from the legislation you still have millions going to restore a swampland instead of creating jobs that are ’shovel ready’. Ask the farmers out there what this and the legislation to protect that little fish have cost the farmers in this fertile valley.

We are paying higher prices now because of this for all fresh food we eat. The stimulus money was supposed to create jobs not protect a swamp land. The dims have used it for just that.

I have no problem saying I misspoke if Mr Kia said I did. The speaker wasn’t alone in this request so I apologize for giving her all of the credit.

Okie, as both Monkey and I told you yesterday, the Stimulus funds have not all been allocated yet… Do you know what kind of “shovel ready” jobs it takes to rehabilitate those Bay Area situations that you are yappingn about??? I can tell you that it will take a LOT of jobs….

We also told you about the MANY road construction jobs that are CURRENTLY underway… many of them using stimulus funds that have now been accepted in States that initially said they would not accept stimulus… including, Alaska, Ohio, and South Carolina….

Also, just look around this City…. LOOK at all of the street construction going on… even if it does bog down traffic, there are HUNDREDS of people working….

Monkey mentioned the U.S. 69 project… I also mentioned the many miles of I-35 being worked on… also, MILES of I-40 west of OK City….

Look around you, and you can SEE all of those “shovel ready” jobs being put to good use…. Good grief, even BOEHNER had to acknowledge the number of people employed with stimulus funds in Ohio… after he griped about the funds earlier….

    Do keep up, ok???

I see “little fish” in this post… I dont see any mention of the mouse that you started with your griping…. You want to reconsider your previous statement??

ALSO, even though Pelosi isnt a part of this stimulus fund release, since it isnt in HER DISTRICT…. You still want to rag on her??? My, how nice of you….

Did you also forget, that the funds being used for the Wetlands come on request of NOAA, and not from any House members specifically??

Guess you missed that one too, eh??

Do you know that any of the current projects being worked on in this area are NOT being done because of stimulus funds, or the promise of such funds??? Well, DO YOU???

I grew up here…. And what you say about Kellogg Avenue, is quite true…. I still have fond memories of all the jokes about the “bridge to nowhere” across the river…. MANY years ago…. But, so what?? It still involves local, state, AND federal funds for the Kellogg projects… So, what is your point???

People are WORKING… instead of drinking tomato beer in a bar…. They are doing “shovel ready” jobs…. And ALL of us can see the work…. Feels good to see that heppening…. or at least it SHOULD feel good….

Now, why dont you go do some research… and get your facts straight, before you come here attacking either me or Monkey… And go check out what is happening with the Ohio Road Construction, that even BOEHNER says comes from stimulus funds…. Tennessee law a gauge for gun rights support

In conservative Murfreesboro, gun rights are sacred, but some say allowing permit holders to carry weapons into city parks is going too far. Tourism is a concern too.
    By Richard Fausset
    July 9, 2009

Reporting from Murfreesboro, Tenn. — Like many Tennesseans, Mary Beth Sauls supports the right to bear arms. But as she sat by a public pool full of splashing kids recently, the 54-year-old grandmother said she was worried about a new state law that may soon allow gun-permit holders to carry their weapons into city parks like this one.

“I don’t think this should really be a place for guns, with all these children around,” said Sauls, as she watched a grandson competing in a swim meet.

The Tennessee law, which takes effect Sept. 1, is the latest in a nationwide push by gun-rights advocates to tear down the legal walls that have prevented permit holders from packing their weapons into previously forbidden territory.

In May, Congress voted to allow guns in America’s national parks. A number of similar bills were introduced in state legislatures this year to allow guns in parks, bars, college campuses and churches.

Chicago gun violence: Where’s the outrage?
    By Gerald D. Skoning
    July 10, 2009

The long 4th of July weekend featured glorious fireworks along the lakefront and deadly gunfire in inner-city neighborhoods. Chicago tallied 63 shootings, one stabbing and 11 fatal shootings.

That’s just the latest carnage. The city logged 202 homicide victims in the first six months of 2009: 88 percent were male, 78 percent were black, 44 percent were between the ages of 20 and 30, and 84 percent were shot to death.During the same time, we lost 101 U.S. soldiers in Iraq and 99 in Afghanistan.

A stand for principle on gun rights
BY MIKE COX • MICHIGAN ATTORNEY GENERAL • July 9, 2009

The Free Press editorialized Wednesday — “Your taxes at work for the NRA (and Cox)” — against my filing of a legal brief with the U.S. Supreme Court that supports the National Rifle Association’s challenge of a Chicago ordinance banning the possession of most handguns.

My support for this challenge to the Chicago gun ban is rooted in Michigan’s own Constitution, which states: “Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state.”

My defense of this constitutional principle is longstanding. In 2007, I filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in opposition to the District of Columbia’s drastic ban on guns, arguing that the Second Amendment’s right “to keep and bear arms” is an individual right. The Supreme Court agreed with that position and overturned the D.C. ban in its Heller decision.

The Free Press failed to mention that 34 attorneys general signed on to the NRA’s challenge of Chicago’s strict gun ban, including both Democrats and Republicans. This isn’t about politics; it’s about standing up for principle.

In my own experience of more than 13 years as a homicide prosecutor and head of the homicide unit of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, I never saw anyone charged with murder who had a license to legally carry a concealed weapon. Most people who want to possess guns are law-abiding and present no threat to others. Rather than the availability of weapons, my experience is that gun violence is driven by culture, police presence, or the lack of same, and failures in the supervision of parolees and probationers.

Since becoming attorney general, I have worked to ensure that the rights of Michigan citizens to defend themselves are protected. For example, I have expanded the number of states that recognize Michigan CCW permits from eight states to 35 states. And I’ll continue to take action when constitutional priciples are threatened.

I make no apologies for my support of the Constitution and the Second Amendment.

Shhhhhhhhh. JimJohnson – don’t tell anyone, but that is current law in Kansas now. A city may ban in buildings; they may not ban in open areas, including parks (assuming one is a CCL holder).

And Phantom – “emerged from Bankruptcy” means, in this case, “nationalized.” I for one will not by anything from Gov’t Motors as long as it is in fact Gov’t Motors.

The Chicago case has direct bearing on the laws in all 50 States, regarding the incorporation of the 2nd Amendment.

Maybe that’s why a cadre of paramedics were called recently to a popular Wichita (Mexican) eatery. While attempting to dig into my Chile Con Queso and Quesadillas, I experienced a really icky tightness in my chest, mild nausea and sweating, and extreme fatigue. Moreover, I couldn’t relax and “make it all better.”

    This was serious, amigos.

When the nice parameds arrived, my big, bad blood pressure was sky high (180/120). They put the electrodes on me – the cute little circular things with little metal pins in the middle – sort of like Thelma and Louise used to look like in the AA days of the 1970s – and told me a few unceremonious things…..

Either I find a blood pressure med that works without inducing Thanatic suffering and death-dealing lethargy – or I’m a prime candidate for a heart attack or a stroke. Maybe sooner rather later. Or maybe not.

The paramedics urged me to go to the friggin’ hospital. I curtly explained that Big, B–chin’ Bertha has no health insurance. I wouldn’t let them call an ambulance, especially since I started to feel better within about 25 minutes.

But the warnings were unambiguous. Either my doc finds a suitable med or this chick’s vibrant days are numbered. Everthang will be fine until it strikes: I can work, sleep, eat and s–t – until The Big One makes its appearance.

Steve and XXX I have just asked some questions about what Obama said. Many people want to know where the jobs Obama promised were there just waiting for funding. If the economy were booming no one would be asking this question. If jobs were being created no one would be asking this question.
    _____________________

Okobserver, what, now it’s got to be instant gratification, or nothing?
I don’t know how many jobs have been created or saved by the stimulus package and neither do you. I do know that it took about 8 years for Republicans to really, really screw things up (that’s why the GOP was soundly defeated in the last election). I don’t expect things to get any better in the near future. It’s going to take time to un-fug the mess you Republicans made. What I do know is, at least we’re doing something different, as opposed to more tax breaks for the wealthy, the only idea Republicans seem to be able to muster.

You folks amaze me. You spend all day searching for the most shrill Con websites you can find to copy and paste lies and near lies on this blog like you think you’re accomplishing something. What a bunch of unimaginative crybabies!

Here’s something else to cry and gnash your teeth about. Obama is going to be president for about 3.5 more years; probably another 7.5 years. 2012 should be a walk through for Obama because the GOP can’t field a good candidate to run against him. And that noise you’re hearing? It’s the sound of your party falling down around your ears. Americans are soured on the Republican brand.

XXX here is an idea I have that won’t be a tax cut for the ‘wealthy’. Translation anyone that the left thinks has a dime the government didn’t give them even if they did work for it.

Have a tax holiday. For the next 3 months suspend all taxes withheld on all wage owners. This will put the money in the hands of consumers and out of the hands of politicians. It will go to liberals and conservatives alike and will do more for the economy than all of the stimulus has done to this point. Will also cost much less than another stimulus package.

I really get tired of the left being the party of ‘if it is a conservative idea’ shoot it down. We are in this battle together and I am sorry that your and my prez isn’t doing the job he should be doing.

However unlike the left I won’t go silently.

And XXX stop with the hipocricy. You and every other lib on here griped about Bush from day one.

P.S. I no longer get W2 wages so this won’t give me a dollar more than I have now but it will give jobs back to many who are without because demand for products will go up and people will go back to work.

Maybe some lifestyle changes are ahead for you. Exercise more. Fewer Mexican restaurants. Less saturated fats. Less stress. Hum that last one might be the best one for you.

Right now I got no energy, as well as no patience for “Tiny Tears” terrors like Mr. Terry…..). I gotta eat less fattening food. Gotta relax more, as you guys have noted.

Hell, maybe I should take up meditation. My late sister was into that s–t in a big way. She claimed she could “levitate” – meaning she could literally rise off her chair while meditating.

Forgive me, but gag me on that s–t.

But the Filmie’s gotta do somethin’. And if Randy-Pandy’s gonna befoul our city, I’ve got to learn how to deal with revulsion.

“White House refuses to release documents on Judge Sotomayor

WASHINGTON (AP) – A top Republican pressed for more information Thursday about Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor’s ties to a Puerto Rican civil rights group he said took extreme positions on race, as the White House argued that the material was irrelevant to the judge’s nomination.

White House Counsel Greg Craig told Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., in a letter that board meeting minutes and other papers detailing the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund’s activities while Sotomayor was an outside adviser shouldn’t impact her nomination because she had no role in writing or approving them. But Sessions, the top Republican on the Senate committee that will consider her nomination, said the papers could shed light on Sotomayor’s judicial approach, particularly her view of racial preferences in hiring.

Hundreds of Pages Withheld on Sotomayor

When the Clinton presidential library Web site posted more than 5,000 pages of material related to Judge Sonia Sotomayor on Thursday, it also withheld hundreds of pages of documents stemming from her appeals court nomination and confirmation battle in 1997 and 1998.

The undisclosed documents appear to include memorandums about Judge Sotomayor between White House officials, early drafts of answers to questions posed by the Senate Judiciary Committee at the time, and files related to her FBI background check, finances, and health.

National Archives officials determined that the hundreds of pages of other documents were exempt from release under the Freedom of Information Act because the material relates to appointments to federal office and internal decision-making processes.

Under the Presidential Records Act, such material is shielded from disclosure for the first 12 years after a president has left office. However, former President Bill Clinton could issue such a waiver himself, or his representative and former aide, Bruce Lindsey, could waive that privilege and allow the archives to release the material.

Just eight of 51 economists in The Wall Street Journal’s latest forecasting survey said more stimulus is necessary, suggesting an average of about $600 billion in additional spending. On average, the economists forecast an unemployment rate of at least 10% through next June, with a decline to 9.5% by December 2010.

“The mother of all jobless recoveries is coming down the pike,” said Allen Sinai of Decision Economics. But he doesn’t favor more stimulus now, saying “lags in monetary and fiscal policy actions” should be allowed to “work through the system.”

When you hand out FREE MONEY, without reading the legislation and no strings attached – you are asking for corruption:

“As the first stimulus money flowed into Colorado, it was doled out to shovel-ready transportation projects — and some of Gov. Bill Ritter’s (Democrat) former law partners.

Ritter hired the politically connected firm of Hogan & Hartson three months ago to work on issues surrounding the state’s disbursement of federal stimulus funds. The firm has been paid $40,000 through June and is expected to file monthly bills.

The state attorney general’s office deemed the no-bid contract acceptable, according to the governor’s office, which said the state needed to move quickly to get legal opinions on stimulus money.

Ritter has also used the federal funds to hire five employees for a total of $349,000 to help Don Elliman oversee stimulus money. Elliman, with the new title of chief operating officer, makes $146,034 a year.

State workers are facing furlough days and are amid freezes in hiring and pay, but Myung Oak Kim, spokeswoman for the governor’s economic recovery group, said the hires don’t violate the spirit or the letter of that policy. Federal taxpayers — not state taxpayers — are signing their checks.”

Look forward to more of these Haliburtons.

The revelation from seven Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee that they were misled about a critical CIA program has sparked a debate that touches on the most sensitive areas of national security policy. What program, exactly, was being kept secret?

No one is answering the question, citing the sensitivities that come when discussing classified intelligence matters.

    . . . .

The New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh, building off earlier reporting from the New York Times, dropped news of the possibility that such a ring existed in a March 2009 discussion sponsored by the University of Minnesota.

“It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently,” Hersh said. “They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. They did not report to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff or to Mr. [Robert] Gates, the secretary of defense. They reported directly to him. …

“Congress has no oversight of it,” he added. “It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named [William H.] McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths. Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us.”

Asked if this was the basis of her letter to Panetta, Eshoo said she could not discuss what was a “highly classified program.” She did, however, note that when Panetta told House Intelligence Committee members what it was that had been kept secret, “the whole committee was stunned, even Republicans.” A Republican committee member told Who Runs Gov’s Greg Sargent it was something they hadn’t heard before.

“L’AQUILA, Italy — President Barack Obama and his aides were on the defensive at the G-8 summit here Thursday after developing countries attending a 17-nation climate change forum refused to commit to specific goals to reduce their output of greenhouse gases.

Taken together with a G-8 statement Wednesday that sidestepped any serious pressure on Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions, Obama in Italy has faced the reality of global summitry – that it has been difficult for him to translate his personal popularity at home and abroad into concrete action on two of his top priorities.

The program the panel was NOT informed on was a program which was cancelled – before it got off the drawing board.

The Pelosio buddies are using this to spin a whole new inquiry into the CIA lying to Congress.

    It doesn’t amount to anything.

In fact, Panetta, Director of the CIA and a lifelong leading democrat – told the inquirying six senators, “NO” to their informal letter. He refused to restate (lie, change for political purposes) his original May statement which was delivered under oath – that the CIA WAS NOT HIDING INFO FROM CONGRESS.

You might be asking why the six democrats did not use official Congressional Senate letter head and instead decided to use “an informal letter”?

    The answer is probably: Politic’s.

In early June, a critical hearing was held in front of Judge Vaughn Walker in the al-Haramain warrantless wiretapping case. As a result of that hearing, Judge Walker entered an order commanding the attorney for plaintiffs al-Haramain et. al to file a motion for summary judgement. Hot off the press, the motion was filed minutes ago, and it is a stunning demonstration of just how disingenuous and two faced President Obama and his administration have been on the seminal issues of warrantless wiretapping, protection of Constitutional rights, transparency and accountability.

    “Nathaniel” admits –

“I must have missed that one.”

    Y’think?

Obviously you missed or have forgotten last year’s Democratic presidential primaries.

There was plenty of debate that Barack Obama wasn’t liberal enough for the mess Shrub left us in.

    Still is.

For you CONs to automatically assume a dip in President Obama’s approval ratings automatically translates into us rushing up for the right-wing-nut altar call is patently absurd.

A lot of “libruhls” are disappointed by Obama’s moderate approach to issues such as universal health coverage, LBGT rights, the Iraq withdrawal, the Afghan resurgence…

I’m not surprised in the least, “Nathaniel,” that you “…missed that one.”

You seem to embody typical WE Blog CON ignorance and arrogance; you know nothing except what you think you know and all you know is from fellow wing-nuts.

And you have rational people at a severe disadvantage since, when you plead ignorance, none of us can deny it.

If you ignore facts, you’re ignorant.

    Case closed.

    But here’s the silly thing:

CONs don’t have anything they’re for; only what they’re against.

And they’re recycling old 90s rhetoric originally aimed at Bill Clinton.

I mean, the man got his dick sucked by an intern and the Repubic Party laid it on thick and President Clinton was reelected in a landslide.

Keep trying that approach, CONs. It’s worked so well for you.

You’ve got the fringes of the fringe trying to portray this moderate “libruhl” president as the second-coming of Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, & Che and reality (remember that, “Nathaniel?” “reality” It’s a concept) keeps getting in the way.

Hell, if this administration were half the threat you right-wing-nuts claim he is, we’d be melting down all your guns, shipping your ass to Gitmo, and making gay marriage mandatory by now.

I mean… we’ve had six whole months already.

Hence, we wouldn’t have had eight disasterous years of Worst. President. Ever. In fact, we may not even have had 9-11 since Gore wasn’t best friends with the bin Laden family like Worst. President. Ever. and turning a blind eye to everything Saudi.

Kansas gets $2 million to cleanup petroleum leaks

    The Associated Press
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas will get more than $2 million from federal stimulus money to assess and clean up underground storage tank petroleum leaks.

The Environmental Protection Agency says leaking underground tanks can release petroleum or other hazards into the soil and can contaminate groundwater, the source of drinking water for nearly one-third of all Americans.

The grant for $2.1 million was announced Thursday and is part of $197 million in stimulus funds going to states to deal with leaking underground petroleum tanks

It is what most have been saying all along about the deeply seated agenda of the Leftist Liberal Secular bunch. That is, they are institutionally covert racist whose goals are almost identical to Hitler’s Final Solution.

Ever notice the fanatical following of abortion clinics and providers? It’s quite unnerving that people would attach themselves so much to death.

There are other similarities to O’BAMA’s reign and that of Hitler, but I won’t go into those now as the singularly minded Libs might get confused and hostile.

“As a nurse on New York’s crowded Lower East Side, Margaret Sanger saw firsthand how constant childbearing contributed to the cycle of poverty, and in 1912 she gave up nursing to devote herself to the promotion of birth control. Faced with laws forbidding dissemination of contraceptive information, Sanger’s crusade had much opposition. But by 1921, when Sanger founded the Birth Control League, her movement had begun to win adherents in respectable quarters. Many years of battling were left before birth control would become part of mainstream social thinking, but with Sanger leading the way, that outcome increasingly seemed to be all but inevitable.
This photograph was taken shortly after Sanger’s thirty-day imprisonment in 1917 for opening her first birth control clinic. Shortly before her release, the police ordered her to submit to fingerprinting. When she refused, a prolonged physical struggle ensued, from which she emerged the winner.”

Sorry Fleetwood – but any spying without cause and without judicial review is unAmerican.

And I agreed with CapnAmerica on this that Bush jeopardized basic principles when he pursued this.
That said, I didn’t hear democrats screaming bloody murder about it and they did hold the Congress for two years under Bush. They did nothing about it then and they will do nothing about it now. As would repubicans if they had control.

It is interesting that in pursuit of providing healthcare insurance to less than 15% of Americans, our governments plan is to tax and discourage those with health insurance from keeping it.

I suggest we all email, write, and call our congressional delegates: All Congress should fall under whatever plan they approve for the common folk.

“Now if only any of you would have the brass balls to post your personal thoughts on the weblog when they differ from the koolaid.” American_Way

    ———-

On this blog posting something honest that questions the party you’re affiliated with is like throwing red meat to sharks. It doesn’t seem possible on this forum to be what most humans are — unsure at times, desiring information and input, feeling angst at what is happening in our world (no matter who is in power), wondering how someone else who holds a differing political philosophy sees a topic, admitting you’d like more information before forming an opinion… We all must have those questions, but all of us are attacked for what we believe, for what we don’t believe and we don’t get answers when questions are posed, we get ridiculed. Maybe if answers were possible more would take the heat. It isn’t just what you think or who you support that is ridiculed — it’s you the person too. People who don’t know who you are, will tell you in very specific terms exactly what they think of your personal thoughts. Posters here are hated by people who don’t even know them.

We can’t even post to a subject that is apolitical without the association and political relevance of something we’ve posted in the past on a totally different subject being used in an attempt to discredit our thoughts and opinions.

Women (all women) are treated even more harshly than men. And new posters? They are either made to feel really unwelcome or accused of being someone else who has taken on a new nic (or is using multiple nics).

Think about it. How often does this forum allow rational, adult discussions? It’s very refreshing when it happens!

Personal thoughts on WEBlog? Is that even possible?

Then entered CapnAmerica and BlueJay, make personal references, attacking everything I wrote. They did it to other posters. Back then it was Gallahad, among his other nics (CapnAmerica.)

So, step down from your high horse. The ones who tore down this blog are the ones who cry the loudest.

FF, sometimes it takes up to 4 different types of blood pressure meds to get it all under control. The one thing you have to remember, insurance or not, having a stroke is going to make your existence miserable, especially if you lose the ability to talk.

FIND a way to get it. And they don’t have to be four different expensive meds. The old tried and trues are just fine in combination.

Many of your points are valid for all of us Linda.

I do realize and agree that those on both sides are equally responsible for the communications on this blog.

You went further with your post than I really intended in mine. I was looking for liberals or democrats who had the gonads to openly post here when they do disagree with their own team. That was sort of the running conversation I was having w/Capn.

I myself would appreciate that honesty and respect it. Particularly when the others on that same side would be so quick to eat their own. I can see how there is also fear that “cons” will exploit any concession. But without that attempted dialog, the libs appear as sheep and too afraid to speak their minds.

Someone might prove me wrong. Hoping they do.
