Is anybody sorry for Iraq war?

rumsfeldrice1Former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, who died July 6, expressed regrets late in life about the Vietnam War, observed Bradley Graham in a Washington Post commentary. “Will anyone apologize for Iraq?” he wondered. When Graham asked Donald Rumsfeld (in photo, with Condoleezza Rice) about Iraq-related regrets in an interview for a new biography of the former defense secretary, “he dismissed the question as a favorite press query unworthy of reply.”
Former Pentagon civilian policy chief Douglas Feith said: “It’s still highly political. And I just don’t think there’s any reason for the people who are on the receiving end of a political attack to play the game of the political attackers.”
Graham concluded: “Whether anyone ever apologizes, history at least is due an honest, detailed accounting of the actions and motivations of Rumsfeld and his colleagues.”

We love apologies, don’t we? Our current president is pretty good at it. In fact, I think that the US shold consider appointing another AG. (Apologizer General) Might be a nice gig. We have some candidates, experienced in apologizing, some even with AG experience, such as Elliot Spitzer. But we can do better. You need that knack though, of looking and sounding sincere, even if you’re not. Someone who can turn the tears off and on and like a faucet. Someone, who can parse words with the best. There is only one person who meets these lofty qualifications and you know who it is.

    Yup. Bill Clinton for AG.

Outlander – Biden would make for better TV though. Giving us weekly versions of his “stand-up” gaff to the guy in a wheelchair, followed by a comical attempt at an apology. He could drop some of his classic logic on them like “even though we do thing 100% right, there’s a 30% chance we’re wrong” or “you mean you’re telling me we gotta spend more money to keep from going bankrupt, and I’m saying, Yeah!”. They’ll be so confused at the end, they won’t know whether we apologized or not.

Obama is not apologizing for all of Americans, just those in power that pushed for the Iraq War due to their quest for control of the oil.

George W. Bush had most of the world with us after 9/11 when he vowed to capture Bin Laden (you know, the REAL terrorist behind 9/11?)

When Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld invaded Iraq, that is when America took a very big detour – both in fighting the real war on terror and in the minds of the world.

Maybe Republicans don’t care if Bush and Gang bankrupted our country for their personal war for profit, but the majority of Americans obviously did not want to continue down that path and that is how Obama got into the White House.

If you want someone that can turn on those tears – let’s get Glenn Beck to be the Apologizer General.

Glenn Beck cries like a baby – and the whining is an added bonus!

Of course, it’s no coincidence that the liberal ankle biter Bradley Graham is about to release a book on Rumsfield. Duh.

As one of the liberal propagandists that work for the extreme left WaPo, his editorials are very predictable. Little thought or insight, just regurgitate the party line.

I guess the WE editors are a bunch of puzzies. Who would want to be sorry for anything about the Iraq war?

    * An estimated 100,990 Iraqi civilian deaths.

    * 4645 U.S. military casualties

    * 1360 U.S. contract employee deaths

Why we should anyone apologize for these senseless deaths that were all based on lies and deception?

There is a spot reserved for Rumsfeld in He11.

Is O’BAMA going to apologize for the Democratic Party held most populated cities in the U.S.? After all, that’s where minorities are beaten down sociologically into slums and entrapped in a plantation style welfare state designed by the Democratic Party.

Exactly how are minorities trapped? This myth-making must consume a lot of mental energy. If only that energy could be put to some real use…

When you are so sure you are right that does not leave any room for an apology.

For chief Iraq War apologizer, I suggest: TED KOPPEL, former ABC newsman.

By the way, what ever happened to Ted? Was he taken prisoner in Iraq? Perhaps he was disguised as Sadam Hussein on that cold fateful early morning standing on that platform? I don’t remember hearing Koppel’s name mentioned in recent years.

    “JWink” –

    From Wikipedia:

“Edward James “Ted” Koppel (born February 8, 1940) is an American broadcast journalist, best known as the anchor for Nightline from the program’s inception in 1980 until Koppel left in late 2005. After leaving Nightline, Koppel worked as managing editor for the Discovery Channel before departing in 2008. Koppel is currently a senior news analyst for National Public Radio and the British Broadcasting Corporation.”

This is one of those things about CONs that no longer surprises me, but it did for too long of a time.

CONs seem to think pleading ignorance will get them by. (Perhaps because they tend to be ignorant on so many levels.)

But a guy who you haven’t kept track of somehow doesn’t exist in your world.

The man is 69 years old.

    Perhaps he’s semi-retired.

But with all-too-typical arrogance and ignorance you CONs snark about someone or some issues or some set of facts you’re “…not aware of…” as if they don’t exist. And dismiss them as if — solely out of your ignorance and/or arrogance — they don’t matter.

Again the obvious escapes left-wing journofascists.

Did anyone bother asking the Iraqi people, who no longer have to fear Saddams death squads if they feel that they are due an apology?

Did it occur to anyone that 5 years down the road the Iraqi people may overwhelmingly thank us for what we’ve done?

Of course not. That we be to admit that maybe we did a good thing and that is just not acceptable to the pantschitting left.

XXX is obviously a liberal independent. Normally being an independent would free you up from being loyal to one side or another and allow you to think independently.

In XXX’s case it obviously allows him to ‘not think’ and owe no one an apology.

    A statist in independent clothing.

Nah, voters lover war and violence.
The only thing “wrong” is that it
lasted so long. Had it been a
    six day cakewalk, as predicted,
the public would have ate it up,
    most never having experience anything
like it up close and personal. Overall,
there’s nothing voters love more than
a quick war and a colorful parade afterward.
    However, wars are never predictable.

Isn’t it telling that a majority of the Iraqis wanted the Americans to leave years ago?

Isn’t it telling that Bush chose to invade Iraq on the premise of liberating those oppressed but yet borrows from China to finance the Iraqi war for profit?

Doesn’t China also have a horrid human rights track record – or are they now our new best friends? After all, thanks to Bush and his war, China has all kinds of power over us. They only need to call in a few notes and we are screwed.

But you go ahead and pat yourself on the back (or your pointy head) and give yourself and your fellow Bushies all the credit for invading a country that never attacked us on 9/11.

Does the phrase ‘pompous ass’ ring a bell with you?

Only arrogant people see no reason to apologize for anything.

Just take those Bible-thumping Conservative Christians, for example. They cram their religion down everyone’s throat and yet it is always the other peoples’ fault for not swallowing.

Yeah, Republicans know only one thing – destroy and when they’re done destroying – they look for the cover of God, Democracy and Mom’s apple pie.

Now let’s all sing ‘I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy’, shall we?

During the three decades of Saddam Hussein’s totalitarian rule, between 3 and 4 million of Iraqs 24 million people fled the country, another estimated 1 million fell victim to state terror in the form of massacres, executions, torture, disappearances and imprisonment. 260 mass graves have been discovered (as of 2004) they contain an estimated 400,000 bodies. A few of Saddam’s victims are shown here.
